I sincerely hope that BA gives all cabin crew 90 days' notice to put everyone on new terms and conditions. BA cabin crew are over-paid waitresses and hope everyone at Sandown find themselves together again in a dole queue.
What cant, that onscreen message about how they only applauded the result of the ballot, not the ruinous effects it would have had on their paying customers' Christmases. They couldn't, if they screwed up every fibre of empathy in their beings, give a flying damn about the people who pay their salaries. Utterly shocking. Unite "the Union", and all who sail in her, make me want to vomit.
Polite message to the lovely British people :) Your country is meant to be the cradle of democracy, don't let the big industry bosses bully you into peanuts pay as they enjoy fat bonuses. Days ago the BBC declared that the country's peaked in its class divide. That's not a good sign for a mature, developed nation. Support the workers. If they do go on strike, it's for good reasons - not 'cause they fancy a day off down the pub :) Regards from France.
Boost profits? Are you serious? BA lost over £400Million last year. Cost-saving measures are to save the company! Profits come much much later. This vote was embarrassing. Talk about Turkeys voting for Christmas.
It's BA management that don't care about the customers; after all it's not the workers that are trying to reduce safety levels in order to boost profits.
Incredibly stupid. They don't care one bit about their customers - both cabin crew and management. We've lost £200 on alternative arrangements already. I'm not going to pay for a flight on BA again, that's for sure. There are plenty of other airlines that will happily take our money and then perform. Nobody needs BA. Think Pan Am, Ansett Australia, Swissair, Sabena, TWA. All of them flag carriers as well. All of them gone now.
Solidarity with the strikers. The BBC, the government and various other stooges of big business will try to put you down, mock you and discredit you. Stand firm and know that there are millions of us who back you.
The BBC is a stooge of big business is it? The LABOUR government is? Justified strike? If you were anymore stupid you'd have to be watered. I hope you aren't CC, I'd hate for you to be responsible for people's safety!
The BBC has been instrumental in breaking strikes since 1926. They're the state broadcaster and the voice of authority.
The Labour government has carried out more privatisation than even Thatcher dared to envisage. Blair and Brown are both practically protégés of the woman.
The strike was justified because the workers in question are trying to prevent BA from sneakily pushing pay cuts through and blame it on the economy. BA's executives are looking after themselves very well by the way.
The only power working people have is to withdraw their labour or accept attack after attack, degradation after degradation and for what? Unemployment? Homelessness?
BA has a £2bn warchest and recently coughed up for 55% shareholding in a major spanish airline.
The management are to blame but as usual its left to the workforce to carry the can for their failures, just as the workers in general are now to pay for the crisis of the system and the bankers as part of this new economic crisis.
@closertothelung Of course, the poor, suffering workforce that only enjoyed the very best pay and conditions in the entire damn business whilst their employer went down the tubes. The heart bleeds.
"Today a young man on acid realized that all matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration, that we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively, there is no such thing as death, life is only a dream and we are the imagination of ourselves." - Bill Hicks
If they go under and you end up out of a job then you know what, it'll serve you right, everyone has had to make sacrifices don't think that you're any different.
Looks like you lot have blown so much smoke up your own ass you believe it yourselves, sad.
I could lecture and pontificate about this until the cows come home, how this is silly, how's it counterproductive, how grievances with management should not be directed at the consumer (also working people who are probably suffering just as badly at the hand of vindictive employers). I could go on, but, at the end of the day, this whole sorry saga can be summed up quite neatly by one simple word:
Not everyone at BA earns that amount of money! I certainly don't..... I love the airline and my job so I would appreciate people not judging all crew the same way! I agree this should NOT happen over Christmas or for 12 days. However I didn't make that decision, and disagree with the decision. How can I afford to strike for 12 days with a morgage and a family to pay for? Answer I can't! So as crew for the airline my Xmas is ruined too.
errrmm, maybe you shouldn't have voted to strike then? Or better yet, turn up to work. It is a completely ridiculous strike too. Wanting to maintain crew levels of 16 out of heathrow when gatwick manages with 15 perfectly well. BA is not a public company anymore, if you want the same terms and conditions as civil servants, go get a job at a job centre....maybe then you could meet some of the people who's christmases you will have ruined. Your company is losing 1.6 million pounds a day...get real
Absolutely pathetic. Pissing off the British and worldwide public will not win you any empathy from anyone - in fact, a large swathe of the population now despises BA Cabin Crew for this action.
Didn't people learn from the Royal Mail strike? It makes no difference, loses the company more money resulting in more budget cuts. Short-minded fools. More people will be made redundant and be forced to work part-time as a result of this action and the affect it'll have to BA's bottom line.
Merry Christmas BA customers! Hope you'll remember next time to book with another airline. That what's I did when I heard rumours of strike action a month or so ago and I'm flying to Dubai with Emirates! No sympathy for BA cabin crew since I found out they already get paid DOUBLE Virgin cabin crew.
For God's sake stop making the excuse that you are doing this for the service and the passengers.
You are doing it because you get paid twice as much as any other airline crew and want to preserve your cushty job... even if it means driving BA out of business. Wake up... airlines are going out business.
The world's favourite cabin crew ? No.. Selfish, greedy people.

BA is a national flag carrier. Compare the crew's wages to that of other flag carriers. Iberia £44000 per year, American Airlines, £60000 per year. BA crew are not over paid when you think they have to deal with people like you!!!!!
BA is NOT a national flag carrier and hasn't been since it was floated. It's not hard to tell that as you've just signed up and are defending the indefensible that you are BA Cabin Crew...
It is laughable to hear BA cabin crew describing themselves as the best in the world. They tell themselves this from the moment they start and carry on believing it - no-one else does.
This action is a disgrace and will be remembered by everyone for a very long time. Remember - cabin crew can be replaced within four weeks, and hopefully will be.
Actually cabin crew can't be replaced in four weeks. Training is 6-8 weeks and all cabin crew require criminal record checks which take several months. Get your facts straight
Trust me, I know the facts. I have been in the business for 40 years.
Willie will take you out - it's what he was hired to do, and good luck to him. There are now a million people whose Xmas you have ruined. You are a disgrace.
My christmas ruined. You know what - I couldn't give a monkeys about your T&C's after this. I hope you are all sacked. BA will NEVER get my custom again. Commercial suicide - way to go!!!
You should be ashamed of yourselves. Even if you don't strike the damage is done.
The right to strike is important but you need to understand the responsibilty that goes with that right.

on reading the above comments I think you should get all the facts .I have worked for BA for 23 years in various depts and am now crew and I have never known things so bad yes we are willing to take cuts etc but not at the expense of our passengers who expect a premium airline not Ryanair as WW is trying to turn us into and for your information we have families and bills to pay to we are not the evil c.... s as described previously .Just look at the mess WW has left Aer Lingus in
Evil selfish vindicitive spiteful people spoiling Christmas for so many hardworking families. How dare you. This action will NEVER be forgotten and if BA are unable to stop it it will not only kill the national airline but also trade union membership in this country.
What UK worker would want to be associated with this sort of abuse of power.

United are liars and hypocrites.
The clip shows the militant, mob-mentality that exists in the union.
No explanation is given for cynically targeting private individual customers over the Christmas and New Year holidays.
The fact that they strike was deemed illegal shows how incompetent the union is.
To the union members: you should snap out of it and ask yourself whether United is giving you value for money.
