  • i saw gretzky today at the manhattan beach marriot :]

  • The flex on that aluminium stick must be 500

  • wayne gretzky wasn't even a very good player

  • @alec4342 -- AHHH, I do hope that was suppose to be ironic. Among the best of all time, find a pro player who will say otherwise.

  • @sonicthought duh

  • @sonicthought Go look up "sarcasm" and "irony", then come back. And also, cheers for stating the obvious. Sigh...

  • @ahilmeros without the benefit of hearing inflection or knowing your age, how would anyone know your intent ? I read derogatory comments by what I assume are kids re: videos displaying super skill all-the- time, and further a lack of insight re: the greats of yesteryear. However, passive aggression is obviously not age specific. Very nice retort. I especially like the "sigh".

  • @sonicthought I read sloppy comments by what I assume are not linguistically incapacitated kids all-the-time. It's especially annoying when no differentiation of the two words of topic are made. However, you might not make that mistake in the future, so hey, we learned something today! I might add that this is the first time I made the time to comment on this far too common mistake. You can only pen up your aggression for so long. :-)

  • @ahilmeros "....two words of topic"-- Like "the topic" and "that topic", referring to two different "topics"? That would be subject agreement.

  • @sonicthought You're embarrassing yourself.

  • @ahilmeros --thanks for the cogent explanation tough guy.

  • @alec4342 you're right, he wasn't the very good one.... he was the great one

  • like at that fucking tongues out at 0:52!!!!!

  • Is that Tobey Maguire at the beginning??

  • blink gretz, blink

  • i had that shaft :( i hated cold arenas

  • @skaterboyliam they break easy too

  • @cravingrants well, I knew that. Wooden sticks were still out there in 1995...

  • PUCK handling not stick handling

  • @beachchilly same thing dumb ass

  • @beachchilly whats the difference?

  • "If you wanted someone in the NHL to demonstrate to you the art of puck handling, who would it be?" Alex Kovalev lol

  • gretzky didn't have great hands so much as he had "smart" hands...did very small, somewhat simple moves, but his skating and positioning was so perfect that's all he needed to do.

  • @autopilotoff3323 which is more consistently effective than the dekes you see today

  • i had an aluminum shaft haha.. I think my mom sold it lol

  • What remains a mystery for me is how easton managed to have him stickhandle with those shitty aluminium shafts...

  • gotta love the 160 flex sticks

  • he went to my highscool

  • I got Wayne Gretzky's NHLPA All Star Hockey Tips on VHS for my 7th birthday :)

  • it is Wayne Gretzky... just dont question anything somebody that good at hockey says hahaha

  • yeah yeah i KNOW that..but maybe the way others do it..is wrong and that could be a reason ( one of them) that he is so much better than anybody else. ill try this out next practice..and see if it makes me better..

  • It is true that you want your top wrist rolling/cupping the puck, but when dribbling the puck the bottom hand is actually helping to move the stick side to side. He's doing it the correct, but rarely taught way: loose bottom hand moves the stick (guiding the stick) while the top wrist rolls. Its important for that bottom hand to remain loose, otherwise you end up chopping at the puck. This only applies to dribbling the puck in close, not taking the puck out wide where your shoulders guide.

  • @sjshooster so if you are going down the ice fast its okay to use your bottom hand to move the puck from side to side ?? but in the video it looks like wayne is turning the stick with the bottomhand and is holding the top hand loose..is this just me??

  • Its more that you want to use the bottom hand for SLIGHT, QUICK adjustments and movements. This is particularly appropriate and important in tight spaces. And FYI, unless you're approaching a defenseman and starting a deke, on a breakaway, or skating in tight spaces, you want to push the puck rather than dribble it, which will allow you to skate faster. Hope that helps, and keep it mind that you should still be rolling your top wrist

  • yes, i used to have that stick too.

  • oh I remember that damned aluminum shaft!

  • they saked
