  • Hey peeps thanks for the mostly constructive comments, this is a fairly old vid now, looking forward to pitting more stuff ip soon

  • keep training :) tough guy btw is the iron rings heavy???? quite curios cuz i'm currently learning hung-gar from my old-man and he makes me do horse stance most o the time =.=

  • lol wtf

  • Wow! There's sure a lot of hater comments. They must be training Hate-Fu: the official combat system of the Chairborne Rangers.

  • nice vid man you spent a good amount of time in a horse stance for your first training session.

    Kudos, and keep training hard.

  • Look your a new student keep up the good work and stay with your sifu. Any adult can see your a new student and alot of these people are internet warriors dont worry about it.

  • @jetlee357 Amen

  • Don't pay attention to any of these pretentious pricks. From one martial artist to another, keep it up man you'll do fine as long as you practice.

  • @89sunwukong Good words from a real martial artist

  • you suck sry

  • @Kudiz I see nothing better on your channel. Post this same exercise then comeback and repost.

  • You dis-respect your Sifu asking for comments from others on your form / technique.

    Just keep training and enjoy.

IF it is your first lesson...looks good to me,,,though I am not a Hung Kuen/Gar stylist, but have done some training with a chinese Master.

Stance training is hard with rings, harder with an iron bar with weights and even harder with a Darn Dao /Sabre - your Sifu will show you what I mean LOL.

  • what a stupid gay! but its fun jaja

  • @thewitness1000 guy is spelled with a u. What a stupid gay makes no sense.

  • Hi, I do hung gar but I have no ide awhat the hell are those rings for?

  • @lonewolf871To build up your arm muscles, and they harden your forearms for some serious blocking

  • hmm i know all the comments here must sound pretty rude but ...seriously, why would you put a video of your first day training on youtube ??? ...of course there is only going to be shitcomments cause that video right provocates it <.<

  • This isnt real. no way.

  • your stance is good and low for the first day, buddy. keep up a good work :D

  • Wrong stance, u train lessons on the Iron Bracelet drills with that stance, u will be getting sickness. Sorry to tell that truth! :(

  • I love how fat white people think they are, "so fucking great," and, "know all there is to know," about anything even remotely related to any type of martial art. Oh, and don't bother typing a smart-ass reply... I don't care.

  • @han90177 When did he say he was great?

  • @warriorfire8103 Gee, it's almost as if I said not to fucking reply to me, you fucking hillbilly.

  • @han90177 LOL odd of you to say that considering your the only person who is angry and cursing. Yawn. Enjoy your life.

  • uhhh P.S I am 13 and live in washington ( not DC) does age matter in learning Hung Gar? if so sadface

  • I just started Hung Gar and I don't have a sifu yet.... I tried the horse stance and i could only keep it up for 2 minutes..any tips?..........besides finding a master. XD

  • feet point striaght ahead not outwards but pretty good for beginner wish all the best

  • I was wondering why ur stances were so low...Husband Sifu!!

    haha!! he's awsome!!

one of the best....I say shave the head ,go monk!!

best of luck in your training!!

  • u look like a fag.

  • Looks good! Are you doing tit sin keun/iron wire training? Dont let the negative comments get you down, people expect way too much from someone simply focusing on getting things right. So who cares if they can do it better, you're doing it...period! :D

  • dude take of the girly bracelets so u can do your training.......god do i have to teach people everything

  • @jomill78 dude, lighten up! No you don't have to teach people everything, and with that "girly bracelets" comment, I'd be suprized if you could teach anyone anything! Do you even know the purpose of those girly bracelets! Let my iron forearm teach you what they are for!

  • you must be hugely proud, let me bow down and worship you, to witness someone to stand in the presence of someone that was a hung gar master from the first day you ever started WOW... you silly fool, this is from my first ever session, uploaded for the benefit of myself and my friends

  • My sifu has SINCE pointed out such errors during the lesson and after, but before this video was uploaded

  • @jbulger30 no way really?! he sucks?! and i'm sure on your first day f training you were super awsome right? i'm sure your first day you did absolutley everything right with no mistakes and perfect technique...jackass

  • @jbulger30 u don't really understand the espirit de kungfu dude. Respect fellow kungfu guys.

  • @Sinderking I do understand kung fu. Respect my cock.

  • what the hell only 2 ringz i can do 5 lolz

  • good for you, did your sifu start you off on 5? if so he is obviously a bad teacher as such an activity will do more damage than good, of course I have now moved up and use more rings now that my form is stronger

  • ur hoarse should be tighter not so wide

  • Breathing is great, but in this video you're breathing too shallow - still holding the chi in your upper chest. That is part of what is disrupting your root, here. Something my teacher told me, however crude, always stuck with me: "Breathe right down into your balls". :)

  • FORCE

  • You're not distributing your weight well enough in your horse stance. Too much weight on your left leg.

Center yourself a little more and you'll be doing just fine ^_^

  • awesome your an inspiration i want to learn hung gar but i have no idea where its taught

  • i think it is great you doccumented your first day, gives you something to look back on. i wish i could have done the same. i didi however doccument my first i.p. break. it is on youtube, and full of trolling feedback,l.o.l. good job.

  • good for you bud! keep up the training! Nan Quan shi shijie shang zui bang de Gong fu yang zi!

  • I'm not having a go dude, I just wonder!

  • n/p

Do you never wonder what you were like the first day you trained to look back and see your progression? Just now I am at work and I can sit down and look at what I was doing wrong while training and make sure I correct that mistake.

  • why would you document your first day of training on youtube?

  • why not...

  • I asked because youtube's comment section always seems to be full of negative remarks and this guy putting his first day of training on there is really brave.

  • I concur. This is inspirational.

    Thank you for sharing.

  • 1.thats not your first day

2.you never use any iron rings that early for conditioning because you will damage yourself

    3. your horse stance is wrong

    4. whats that brething all about u never breath like that its all wrong

  • 1. I can assure you it is

    2. no-one has given sufficient reason to say this is true

    3. thats because its my first day

    4.....FIRST DAY!

honestly you guys saying this is not my first day care to say why or are you just trolling fools?

  • 1.this answer can only give u theposter of the clip, but im sure its true

2.this is an apologise for lazy guys or woman

    3.its not wrong,just needs somepolishing

4.u call urself hungkuen and seem to have no clue

  • Not your first day of training.

  • care to expand? why not? were you there? I can assure you this is the first day of training, granted it is 4-5 hours into training, but stance training is a foundation principle in Hung Gar as is breathing technique. The iron rings are being usedas I asked about them and Sifu was happy to explain there usage

  • horse stance is extremely difficult to maintain in hung gar,

    good job!

  • 好炼!Amen, my Hong Jia brother! Focus on keeping your elbows, feet, and back straight, and your shoulders relaxed! 加油

  • The rings are for more weight, to make the practice harder and it toughens your arms up.

And later one you can put more and more rings on your arms.

  • what are the rings for?

  • there like weights, makes it harder on your arms but you gain strength.

  • Not as easy as it looks tell me about man it kills the legs and the arms but its well worth the effort and afterwards you look at yourself and say yeah man i did that.

  • Your sifu is Wayne Husbands? I am familiar with him, he has good kung fu.

  • yeah when you meet him you know he has pretty amazing kung fu. He is wise too, he wouldn't give me the rings without reason our relationship as student and master is an unusual one due to the distance but it works, I wouldn't want another closer teacher, Too much respect for Wayne Sifu

  • yup my sifu is far as well

  • Students usually start with bare hands, then progress to 1 brass ring, then 2 brass rings. Starting out with 3? You should get your technique down before adding weight. Just my opinion.

  • yeah i understand that, as does sifu. Due to the nature of my training it was nessesary to introduce me to the rings early not to begin but to understand where i should be eventually. Obviously training at home was without rings for several months until our next session when he gave me some rings of my own

  • is this guy for real? hahah

  • Care to make a more detailed critique?

  • Check you email

  • Sure I have one for you brother. Work on getting your feet straight while in Ma Bu. Not everyone can do that right off the bat but its something to work on. And when moving forward like you did be sure one leg is empty of weight before shifting. Also control your arm movement because when you were going back down they moved out of place for a quick second. Other then that bro keep working hard your doing good. Keep up the good work.

  • thanks for the comments, yeah it's pretty hard keeping your feet straight to begin, it's getting better though, I was having trouble shifting weight in Ma Bu also as u can see, still struggle with it a little.

thanks for the great comments again, hopefully other people will read them and benefit!

  • Anytime bro, I love to share what I know with others who are actully trying to learn. Unlike a guy I know who is taking a art and doesnt even know the name of it (really how the hell u do that). I just call him stupid and move on

  • hah! yeah ppl can be funny, thanks, i plan on putting some new videos up soon to keep ppl updated on progress

  • yeh......

  • Ask your sifu if your tounge needs to be touching the upper gum. The secret behind the stance which strengthen the pc muscle thus seals in the qi leaking out.

  • how can you breath out with power if your tonque is touching your gum no need for that thats hung not 8 section brocade or something etc...

  • Do you know what a nose is use for? It's for breathing..duh!

  • yeah..in hung kuen we breath IN through the nose and OUT through the mouth..

  • The answer is Dantian breathing.

  • Tan T'ien (Dan Tian in English) is mostly taught in TaijiQuan and Taiji (yes its 2 dif things, Email me for explanation) but your tongue on the roof of your mouth behind the front teeth completes the circle of Chi/Qi/Ki. And breath from out of your stomach not chest. And unless your mentally challenged then you should be able to breath out of your mouth with your tongue on the roof of it but thats not about of what we talking about here, and dude don't worry about that troll up there.

  • thanks i'm actually doing more research into the subject your comments are helpful

  • ibuchanan82, I response to your msg 8 months later as indicated in the YouTube, and I think you still unable getting real skill in this Qigung from the internet,or even upset even approaching some masters for teaching!!!!

  • Hi there, sorry I think you misunderstand the concept of this, I am not attempting to teach anything, this was a recording of my fist ever day of training, so I could look back on it for reference, to chart my progress, I would never claim to teach Qigung or hung ga, I am a student.

I also dont learn from the internet, My sifu Is Wayne Husbands, check my channel for more videos including my sifu.

  • ibuchanan82,

nice to meet you, i recognised that was sifu Wayne Husbands leading you into this HungKuen art, and we're same group

like your siSoak FrankyLau and your siGung Mark Ho. I didn't mis-understood you while I worried that some infos from internet may mis-lead you and propose you follow from your sifu.

  • [ a recording of my fist ever day of training, so I could look back on it for reference, to chart my progress,] For me, I choose to select my clip for this purposes as PRIVATE, then I persoanlly view it not publiclised !!

  • in hindsight this may have been a good Idea, but at the time I was happy for other peoples opinion. I still am and dont feel I need to hide the video from public viewing

  • oh i wouldnt worry about that, my Sifu is my Sifu not "some guy I pay to teach me", I am his student and that is an honour to me. If its not of the Lau family tradition I remember it might not be correct within our line so i use caution or even disregard it completely. It is an honour for me to be learning Lau Ga Hung Ga Keun from such an amazing lineage, im not going to mess it up. thanks for your concern whats your connection are you a student of siGung Mark Ho?

  • tntjperic, YES you got it right !!!! c h e e r !!

  • ging18, May I have more details about your experience [hung not 8 section brocade or something etc... ].? How are these differ from each other??? Please teach me as I'm not doing any un-respect !!!

  • hey where can i get some of those rings? I'm doing self study and it's hard to get the conditioning right when I lack the equipment

  • and also do samsing with your sifu once in a while it will help :)

  • bring more air to your dantien hehehe

  • yea heh, my sifu said that, i need to work on that, its getting better though. Thanks for the comment

  • Nice, but you dont need the rings. And also try too keep your arms just above your waist.

  • thank you yes.

I dont use the rings usually there there coz i asked about them

  • Hi, my only criticism is using that many rings, especially if you are beginning your training regime, again. You can severly damage your rotary cuffs, as you(in my opinion) should build to that level again. I do not see "tideness" in your form. Foundation training is much more important than foundation training with weights attached. Best regards.

  • Thanks, yeah I don't use rings now, I was silly enough to ask my sifu about it, he was only to happy to show me ...

  • yeah it looks like your leaning too forward like your going to fall on your horses neck :S does that make sense? i think your back should be straight and your legs like parallel when your arms come out.. erm like i do this to help me train i sit like a chair on the wall and with my arms raised out. it works :D try it

  • yeah my horse stance is improving, i naturaly sit wide and low in horse stance, Sifu adviced me to pull it in a little to make the walking a little easier.

  • I was just about to say that you need to kick your heals out a bit more. Nice stuff though! Eat that bitterness to get to the sweet stuff mate!

  • is it the video or is it me.. your legs when you go down to ma bu (horse stance) you look like your going to fall flat on your stomach.. i think you should train your horse stance a little more..

  • thanks, yeah this is the video of me training in horse stance really for the first time, u'r likely goingto notice mistakes like that. Are you saying I'm leaning to far forward? I'm also pretty shattered by this time so tiredness may be a factor here.

  • heh, yeah i was so ready to spill my guts, we'd been at it for ages before this was shot.

Thanks for the comments, really its credit to my sifu for his exellent instruction and even his sifu, my sigung, legendery teacher i'm told.

  • That is some very good basic training, you're building a good foundation for what's to come. Not as easy as you think hahaha I know exactly what you mean
