Lakers were not playing intense defense vs Orlando in the regular season. They did not take them seriously.

Orlando beating the lakers twice helped the lakers focus for the first two games because they knew what Orlando was capable of

There is no what if's in this argument. Injuries happen. Even to superstar players. It was just LA's time to shine when they needed to. LA won a fair series against a tough Magic team and dominated the finals. It's not that the Magic sucked or choked, it's that the Lakers played brilliantly and were playing dominating basketball.

Probably people getting too emotional about the implication that the Lakers could have had both games if they really wanted them. Given how close the games are, it's true they could have gone either way. The deciding factor in these games wasn't defensive focus (though it did play a large role in one game at least). The deciding factor was Jameer Nelson slashing, shooting, and assisting at an All-Star level.
