Thank you very much...it is a great area with Bear, Deer, Elk and Moose to spot on your way hiking to the Mountain Goats high living slopes and peaks.

It is kule now that you mention that natural censor...great observation and kewl way of lookin at it...nice work.

I was using my Great Uncles 30-06...and I ended up getting closer than I expected because of the clouds comin in and out I closed the gap to 156 yards according to my Bushnell Rangefinder.

I packed it out of there by myself...ended up with around a 100 pounds of sweet tasting Mountain Grass Meat...and although a very tough hike, it was more than worth it and I would do it again...and I have and will continue.

It is a special feeling to be so high in the tops of the Rocky Mountains...awesome!

My choice for long range sniping would be a .338 Lapua with a Mk4 leupold scope. Pricey but you get what you pay for.

And congrats...you'll do good...the real challenge is your legs and lungs...the goats like to be where most men won't go.

But you can...I have several times now...its well worth it even if you let them all go like I usually do.

Thanks for your response...It is difficult not to see hunting of any kind through one's own values; however, I am not in any way shape or form against harvesting animals for food; on the other hand, to see an animals head hanging on someone's living room is just not my thing. Even though I may never get to see a polar bear or a mountain goat in the wild, I would rather know that they are in fact still present in the wild than to see their heads as a decorating accessories.

I know how you feel...and don't disagree with you. I understand that you would not want any harm to come to your pet goats...and that shows you care.

However...I truly know that its far better off in the wild and free on the off chance of natures cruelties or a harvesting, than that of an animal that is contained for peoples own pleasures.

Don't take that the wrong way...I'm sure or at least hope you do care well for your animals...but that is clearly not the intended use of the animals life.

You are correct in that it is beautiful, and it is sad...but it is also beautiful and great to harvest...and the meat on a Wild Mountain goat is not even comparable to that of a domesticated animal.

I think it is far more sad to contain an animal than to hunt a free and wild part of nature.

We call it Zipper Mouth, but I don't know what its real name is...there is no name of the mountains on our maps...but it is north of Cranbrook if you know the area.

Yes, they are very awesome and amazing animals. Its the Alpine Grass that makes them taste so sweet.

Beautiful and tasty...like many plants and fruits we harvest...they look almost to good to eat...but they're not...they taste great!

It was 156 yards...my Cousin spotted the Billy Mt. Goat Miles away, so we discussed it and I went for the hike...spotted it at 450 yards and started the sneak up...meant to get to 200 yards...but the clouds kept comin in...so 156 yards is what it ended up being.

I didn't take a goat this year, but saw 51 in 4 days of hunting...could have but held out for and never got the ones I kept seeing far off.

I have caught a 48 pound Spring (Chinook) Salmon, and a 24 1/2 inch Cutthroat Trout, and hunted for all kinds of things...but I would love to go fish for those mean toothed Muskie...they look awesome.

You are lucky for many reasons that you live in Ontario.

I love where I live too, B.C. is beautiful and full of fish and game.

Hey thanks man, and I would love to get to hunt and fish in Ontario. Many of your Deer and Fish are much bigger than ours. As well you have some fishing that we don't have, like Muskie and Walleye and Bass for the most part (we have a few small mouth).

I am going Moose hunting in a few weeks and the leaves all change colour...I know what you mean...awesome.

It was a young Billy so the horns hadn't grown much yet.

A pro said that the first growth was awesome and thats what determines the Record Billies.

He said to bad I didn't let it grow to six years old and it would have been a world contender LOL.

yeah you cant eat them, there just basicly farmers goats that have gone stray, your allowed to kill as many as you want to becasue the can cause bad erosion to crops.

I think I have seen some vids on that maybe...where they were using helicopters to get into remote mountains and hunt these goats...there were lots of them, and the guys could shoot all they wanted...I am not used to any thing like that...we don't do that here...but I guess maybee we do with Rats...ha ha lol. Lots of those lil buggers here...they can be a real problem someplaces. Not where I live luckily!

Gun laws in australia are very different from in the usa. Its very hard to get a handgun, legally, and if you have one you can only use it for target shooting, no hunting and not for self defence, in australia you dont have the right to defend your self. Im serious.

I got my bow worked on in Cranbrook and we dropped of my uncles whitetail at Rick's in your town. They did a great job, while I we were off hunting elk, goat, and mulies.
