@Sh4d0wKat For the same reason that both The Thing (from the movie which this was based on and was an homage to) and Alex Mercer from the game Prototype can do the same-- probably shift its biomass into something that to the eye and to touch, looks AND feels like actual clothing (but really isn't). Of course, there is a far more simple explanation...the plot requires it, thusly they can do it.
