What I would like to see is, to have the refs/linesmen be held accountable for bad calls or for not doing their jobs properly and consistently. They should be fined or even "suspended" for their actions.
The wings are the only team I can't bring myself to like and May is definitely on my s#@$ list, but this was one of the worst calls I've ever seen. The zebra basically says "it's not a goal because I say so."
I've seen once, the Toledo Walleye (ECHL) clean checked (NOT INTERFERENCE) a guy near the net, and the guy like literally hook tripped our guy right in front of a ref, no call.
People who were only told to award a goal if the puck completely crosses the thin red line inside the net and blow the whistle when you can't see the puck would have ruled correctly. I normally don't get on the case of officials (I've been there, done that), but that was as bad as the missed interference call in the 1996 ALCS (MLB).

The referee said "The whistle HAD GONE to kill the play" which is a lie. Not the referee's fault, but Toronto's. The ref honestly did not see the puck till after the the whistle. Toronto got this one WRONG. It was in directly off the shot, even a quick whistle would not explain this.
I've seen bad calls by officials in a lot of sports, but they didnt have replay or time to analyze like Toronto, by far, the worst call in sports

Very, very bad refereeing here. TWO refs somehow managed to be out of position to see the puck enter the net. If just ONE had been up behind the net where he's supposed to be, this would have been a goal. This is the very reason we now have two refs and two linesmen...and they still can't get it right.

I hate that rule. Intent to blow the whistle. The only way to prove that the ref intended to blow a whistle before a goal is to hear a whistle. Intent? They need to change that rule. There is no intent to blow a whistle, if you intend to blow the whistle you better damn well blow it. Because there is no way for the video review guys to see intent on the replay. The whistle couldn't have beat the goal the goalie never even had the puck. The other rule change should be kicking pucks in aloud.

what happened was toronto basically said 'give them the goal', but the linesman from center was pretty much OFP and said no goal... becuase he intended to blow the whistle. Toronto really can't say anything, the referees on the ice have final call.

These refs are worse than some of the NFL refs! If I were an NHL official and I saw the replay, I would have to give the Red Wings this goal. Having indisputable visual evidence and yet not overturning the call when it must be overturned is a huge crime in any sport.

This was an unbelievable call by the referees. The logic that was used to justify this call just boggles the mind. The reason was whistle was blown was because the referee couldn't see the puck, because the puck was in the net. So he can't say that they didn't score before he blew the whistle, because he blew the whistle as a result of the (uncalled) goal. Is it only a goal if its called so by the referees? This is just ridiculous...
Those refs are retardted they blew the whistle intending to kill the play but It was in the net they can't do that they wouldn't kill a breakaway goal cause it's in the net and so was this puck, pathetic call

@IrishHeroMan i watched that game were they called holmstrom in the crease but he was on the line and the rule states that if a person doesn't give goalie an area to move in the crease, it may be a disallowed goal, and holmstroms was on the line and the goalie was back against the goal crease such bullshit

Very, very bad refereeing here. TWO refs somehow managed to be out of position to see the puck enter the net. If just ONE had been up behind the net where he's supposed to be, this would have been a goal. This is the very reason we now have two refs and two linesmen...and they still can't get it right.

i dont understand how hockey unlike some other sports has the benefit of using instant replays and STILL manages to get the calls wrong. stoping the momentum of the game for 3 mintues and still getting it wrong.. its unacceptable.

I hate that rule. Intent to blow the whistle. The only way to prove that the ref intended to blow a whistle before a goal is to hear a whistle. Intent? They need to change that rule. There is no intent to blow a whistle, if you intend to blow the whistle you better damn well blow it. Because there is no way for the video review guys to see intent on the replay. The whistle couldn't have beat the goal the goalie never even had the puck. The other rule change should be kicking pucks in aloud.

what happened was toronto basically said 'give them the goal', but the linesman from center was pretty much OFP and said no goal... becuase he intended to blow the whistle. Toronto really can't say anything, the referees on the ice have final call.
What we have here is a stupid referee... and a selfish referee at that. I can't believe he made this call, I remember almost breaking my fist on my TV screen over his virtual face. WOW yeah...

These refs are worse than some of the NFL refs! If I were an NHL official and I saw the replay, I would have to give the Red Wings this goal. Yes, it's true that the Red Wings are my least favorite NHL team, but they didn't deserve to be screwed like this. Having indisputable visual evidence and yet not overturning the call when it must be overturned is a huge crime in any sport.

This was an unbelievable call by the referees. The logic that was used to justify this call just boggles the mind. The reason was whistle was blown was because the referee couldn't see the puck, because the puck was in the net. So he can't say that they didn't score before he blew the whistle, because he blew the whistle as a result of the (uncalled) goal. Is it only a goal if its called so by the referees? This is just ridiculous...
