My grip has always suffered in the past (mainly because of injury) but in my finisher today i managed 90Ib for 40 seconds. Still got to beat beast Joe here!!
you guys who are talkin crap this is for you ,I think Joe knows what hes doing I mean he does train countless nfl, professional, and college athletes. So for the people talkin crap Ive got some advice for you SHUT THE FUCK UP! anyways great video joe
grip training has a ton of benifits as wisdom and goofy have already stated, but if you have little hands grip trianing will help counteract the size of your hand compared to its strength and just about6 the same goes with people with big hands. I was lucky enough to have realyl big hands and i still do grip training to keep my grip up and allow longer heavy sets on back and heavy days. and its a finisher because after your done with that your grip isn't worth shit lol
As goofy775 says above, there are countless real-life applications for grip training. Law enforcement work their grip strength so they can take down criminals with ease. Rock climbers train it for their sport. The list goes on.
from the workout perspective a strong grip increases your lift capacities and numbers in the gym across the board because your grip isnt going to give out before the muscle you're training does. That means you can go deeper into heavier sets and get more out of them because you can hold onto the weight longer.
So when is he going to start to do something?

pinch grip is just one of many modalities that comprise hand strength. think before you post, as plate pinches are a superb way to train grip.
kane101nod 2 years ago
we usually take two 45 plates and grab them by the lip one in each hand

whats the point of grip training
trailerparkboys12 2 years ago
so you can hold onto things... fairly straight forward... in the lifting world things like deadlift... in sports.. well there are countless examples

stronger grip, stronger hands, being a badass.
what you've just witnessed is fuckin impressive.

Coach Joe,
Why is this a "finisher?"
Sincerely,
Brad
Brads1111 2 years ago
Probably because the forearms are a small muscle group as compared to the hips/quads/back etc.
I think the general trianing principle is:
Train the larger muscle groups first, then towards the end of the workout work on smaller muscle groups

if your grip is wasted you arent going to be able to properly do your other exercises, rows, deads, chinups, whatever, they all need grip.

can you read? it says"finisher"
chutebox 2 years ago 4
this is why you do this exercise at the VERY END. as in, when you do this exercise, it's time to go home.
