  • ..and i thought sidechaining is only available on the compressor. lol this is very nice!

  • Excellent technique -- I love it !!!

Thank you for presenting this ... I can make use of it right away I'm sure !!!

    :-)

  • Wow now I have to test side chaining on everything possible.. Waiting to get my hands on Abbleton...

  • Great tutorial man, its really easy to understand.

  • gate is such an obnoxious device to use correctly. Thanks for this quick tutorial explaining the main effect of each parameter and how Hold correlates with sidechain.

  • Can you sidechain kicks/drums what have you with vocals in Ableton. If i put an acapella in one channel can i sidechain my kick so it perfectly aligns thru the song?

  • cool dude....actually something you could use and you didn't ramble on forever about it.....to the point, i like that.

  • where do i get the gate vst???

  • @DJFAMOUS88 it comes with it lol

  • @KATOMATE01 i laughed too lol

  • thank youuuuuuu

  • thanks heaps dude :)

  • worrrd. hope this works! i was goin for that frnech house punp sound with the bass and kick. but when i tried using side chainging , i couldn't choose a specific drum hit with the sidechain.

  • where is the gate devise is it already in there

  • he sounds like jack from jack in thebox

  • @burlface I never thought of that lol.... Now Im hungry hahahaha

  • This is nice.. was wandering what program you use to capture screen recording?

The sound and looks is so clear.

  • i use FL Studio, should i change to Ableton, is it better?

  • can this be done in logic 9

  • @fadermaster yes you can do this in logic except its harder in logic to get a longer release if needed

  • thanks mate! really useful, would have spent hrs trying to figure. Peace

  • niiiicee

  • can u rythmically modulate to any clip not just drums?

  • awesome! Thanks.

  • Thank you so much man :D

  • sounds like kermit the frog lol :}

  • @dtoned1234 haha u joka

  • Thank You :)

  • thanks man very useful cause i just started to learn ableton after creating in FL : )

  • @k4mi1o0tr11 which is better ? fl or ableton?

  • @deejaymolnarmate ...for me ableton kicks FL Studio's ass... but It's just me ;D (joke) but for real now ... I like ableton more cause it's easier to work with audio, I feel more comfortable with ableton effects, Sidechain in ableton is easy and quick... and it works (in my opinion) better than in FL. And also ReWire'ing in ableton works better than in FL. But still I'm REASON lover ;D and I use it most

  • stellar in simplicity

  • nice man, thanks a lot

  • omg amazing. :) thank you

  • Man thank you!! I been trying to programme those effects manually

  • loving itt..starting to prefer ableton over logic now

  • cheers ive been using ableton for a year an have been manually adjusting to get that sound uve just reminded me there was a sidechain feature thanx doooouuu

  • how can i make a sample :( ?

  • this is such an awesome effect.

    thank you so much

  • awesome

  • freaking awesome...

Can't thank you enough for posting these tutorials

  • It's not working for me. It actually just drops the volume really low but doesn't fluctuate any ideas on what I am doing wrong.

I thought it was because I was using midi clips but im using samples now and i still get the same result, low volume.

    HELP PLEASE

  • you might have the flip option on

  • Thats very likely ;)

  • does ableton suite 8 have all the same things as ableton live 8 does? whats the big difference as well?

  • Ableton 8 Suite actually has all the same and more than Live 8 alone, it includes instruments, drums, etc, over the Live 8 upgrade. It is also more expensive as a standalone, but for those upgrading from Live 7 you get everything for relatively cheap. That is what I did.

  • it has more than what live 8 has I upgraded from live 8 to suite 8 box version so I could get session drums and more latin percussion drums also. But its worth getting suite 8 I could tell you this that I have started with live 6 through a friend who introduce me to the program and I am very very please with the results, coming from logic 7 and Logic pro 8

  • :)) suite :) ableton 8 doesn't feature the whole library :)

  • Interesting. I've heard a similar effect done by doing compressor sidechaining - never done it with a gate. Sounds like a "harder" version of the former. Good stuff.

  • Hi there - yes we have a couple of tutorials on this too! Enjoy!
