To date, in my honest opinion, Los Endos the BEST Genesis piece in the world :) The "Invisible Touch Tour" performances of the Drum Duet and Los Endos have the best energy given by these drumming idols of mine; they sound the best as well. However, I will go on a limb here and say that, thanks to the ever-changing audio technology, the "Turn It On Again Tour" performances of these pieces sound much, much more in depth.
Please don't get me wrong, I enjoy all available live performances!
@steve02681 You know what would have made it better? If the drum duet were preceded by "Dance on a Volcano" like on the Wind & Wuthering and Duke tours :)
0:00 was one of the greatest moments in my life.... There I was in Wembley stadium, I had no idea the drum duet went straight into Los Endos. I can't describe the feelings I had at that moment, there are no words for it. It was beyond excitement, beyond everything. Fantastic.
Surprisingly the Synclavier II - essentially a grossly overpriced DX-7 on steroids -Tony uses for the lead lines cuts through just as well if not better than the old ARP Pro Soloist he originally used.
Of all the live shows that should have been released on CD, this is the one that got missed, but Im sure they would just butcher it in production like the others
@MrNotNiceGuy There's an audio recording on the Internet entitled "Live in the City of Light", taken from the master tape of this concert. It includes the full show (including the 'In The Cage' medley excised from the VHS/DVD releases). :)
@valdostaguru Genesis Movement Torrents - you need to sign up (it's free), and you'll need uTorrent to extract the files - oh, and you might want to get an app called FlicFlac to convert the FLAC files into MP3, as the torrent site is FLAC-only.
I believe Phil C. has very little concern for Daryl S. and Chester T. connecting with all those in the back of Wembley; that's right, all those way out there in flat-land! Way to look sharp and crash those cymbals Phil C... No need to inquire of me about your beat. DWH :)
Newtonian Dynamics do not necessarily exhibit the 'predictability' property - Royal Society of London. Predictable feedback to Collins' drums in 'Fading Lights' addresses this issue at stake: "Does Phil almost lose his rhythm on the drums a couple of times there?" and "Collins knows what he does, he is playing everything perfectly." No final conflict in theology or the science of music here. Are you still the polemicist in need of unity, a miracle and dominion for the smaller venue?
Before they started playing mega sized venues and were still playing average sized arenas and concert halls, this medley with the lights and all was the most powerful and seat buzzing moment I`ve ever seen in a live performance. Banks bass pedals literally made the seats vibrate and the light show was hard to describe. The last tour which was done predominantly outside just couldn`t match up to the atmosphere of the smaller venue. I wish they would play the small arenas again.
I'm forgiving the shoulder pads, the mullet and the general awfulness of Invisible Touch and remembering an incredible night at Wembley, a balmy summer night at that, and this amazing Los Endos. Hairs are up on my neck now. My ticket was £15 by the way. I think Bumper got the better deal.
Surely the best live version on record. Up tempo and POWER; a massive wall of sound where the drum fills never stop coming, each one right on the nail.
@jandow the Second's Out version (especially the new remixed one) is even better IMHO because it tyill has real organ and real Mellotron choir and the great Arp ProSoloist synth and Steve Hackett. Daryl is an awesome musician, but he can get a little too "busy" sometimes - sounding too much jass-fusion as oppoesd to prog rock. And yep: that gorgeous wall of sound, ace musicianship. stunning, heavenly musical beauty and killer drumming: That's Genesis. That's why they are my all time favorite.
The three greatest moments in my life: The birth of my daughter, The birth of my son, and Los Endos Wembley stadium 1987. It still gives me shivers now. Thanks Phil, Tony, Mike, Daryl and Chester. Forever in your debt.
Just a phenomenal band. Each member has such strength in their ability to perform and when put together, it's amazing beyond words. Phil is just a genius, there's no other performer in the world who can touch him (for me anyway) He's not flashy by any means, but he brings such an appeal to the show that once he gets going, you can't take your eyes off him. 25 years later, and I still can't stop watching them! There's no alternative. Thank you for posting these, it brings back my youth for me!
I remember the night they played in Boston MA on this tour. I was 16, lived three hours away and there was no way my parents were going to drive me there or pay, gasp, $18 for a concert ticket!! I watched the clock the entire evening of their concert, just imagining the show I was missing and how amazing it must be to be a part of it. Since then I've seen them twice, have all there cd's and dvd's and have watched them so many times that I have every note committed to memory.

Is Rutherford playing 12 string during the Squonk section like he used to? Hard to tell...doesn't sound like he's playing bass guitar anymore during that part though.
Yeah, I realized that after watching it again. You can see the Steinberger has a whammy bar, hence it must be a six string.
Ya know, watching this again, it's also weird to see Rutherford playing a Fender Jazz Bass, or in fact, a Fender bass at all. He's tastes in instruments have tended to be more esoteric over the years...Rickenbacker, Hagstrom, Shergold, Alembic, etc.
Mike plays a Steinberger L Series 6 string guitar during the last section. It is hard to hear in this stereo mix, but in the 'new' 5.1 mix, his part can be heard more clearly.
this is just a great live performance. not only 10000 times better then on CD but watch that lights on 4:12. they are trying to re create some nothern light ore something. GREAT!
I had captured it from a LaserDisc instead of a DVD. The LaserDisc version is indeed not wide screen but it was LetterBoxed so I captured it and edited it so it would make a wide screen appearence.
