So the battle between Needles Kane and Marcus Kane on the Minion boss, technically reflects the battle in Sweet Tooths Mind for dominance over their physical body.

Back when Sweet Tooth was good, and your average Ice Cream Man, was back when Marcus held dominance, eventually Needles was able to beat Marcus and claim dominance, and held it since.

If you played this game though, if you decoded the messages minion has on the loading screen. You will see that all of this was not real and was all in Sweet Tooth's head.

Minion also reveals himself to be Marcus Kane, the other half of Sweet Tooth's split personality.

As also stated by Jaffe Twisted Metal 2012's story plot is not connected to Twisted Metal Black in any way.
