A few years ago this was part of the Animusic show they featured on PBS during one of their begging for money months.According to Internet Movie Database it came out in 2001. So Hamlee113 must have been born 1988 then. Since he or she said they were 13yrs old when the video came out.
Of course it isn't real, that's the beauty. What is amazing about this is that the software that generates these graphics is more than a movie rendering. The ' graphic instruments' you see are actually played by musicians and they correspond exactly to what they play on their real instrument via MIDI (musical instrument digital interface). So it will play differently according to what they play. The creators also wrote the music... truly genius achievement. Get the videos!

There is no "Robert M. Trammell Music Conservatory" or "Sharon Wick School of Engineering" at the University of Iowa. There is a Voxman Music Buidling and a Seamans Center for Engineering. The video is a great piece of computer animation, though; good for Animusic.

In the actual Music Machine program (which is called Pipedream) and it is intended as a screensaver which you can navigate through, change views, pause etc. etc. etc....
I'll bother to contradict, but only because you're a jackass. This is an animation from the first Animusic DVD. Later, ATI got together with Animusic to use this piece (Pipe Dream) as a tech demo for some cards. This is a rip from the original, which is why you don't see an ATI logo in the corner.
I'm surprised none of the other Animusic videos have been put forth as real creations. Here on YouTube it looks a lot like CGI, but on DVD video it's crystal clear and sharp, and the background detail is amazing. Look for dents in the walls and floor where balls have missed.

I go to the university, and I know we don't have anything like this. Has anyone ever heard of Animusic? Because this is from that series, search for it yourself.

Looking at the design it's easy to see it wouldn't work.
The blunderbuss shaped ejectors are a huge clue it's fake. Think of the choke on a shotgun versus and old blunderbuss.

Dont even bother contradicting me, i recently bought an ATI video card, and thats what came with it.
In the actual Music Machine program (which is called Pipedream) and it is intended as a screensaver which you can navigate through, change views, pause etc. etc. etc....

I'll bother to contradict, but only because you're a jackass. This is an animation from the first Animusic DVD. Later, ATI got together with Animusic to use this piece (Pipe Dream) as a tech demo for some cards. This is a rip from the original, which is why you don't see an ATI logo in the corner.

I'm surprised none of the other Animusic videos have been put forth as real creations. Here on YouTube it looks a lot like CGI, but on DVD video it's crystal clear and sharp, and the background detail is amazing. Look for dents in the walls and floor where balls have missed.

This is, although amazing, fake. It's a computer generated animation. It's a clip from a DVD by Animusic called Pipe Dream. Search YouTube for animusic. Search on Snopes(dot)com for 'farm machine music' for more on the story.

I first saw this at SIGGRAPH in 2001 at their computer graphics theater night. It was one of two video shorts that really got a reaction from the audience. This video was created by a company called Animusic. Their sample videos are better quality than YouTube and this one is only one of about a dozen animations.
