  • All the maps are available from London Metropolitan Archive, Clerkenwell

  • And it still has proper old-fashioned cider-drinking drunks!

Seriously, though, I live right by this park and would love to see the sources of those old maps that feature in this film. Anyone know where I can get them?

  • A great little film about this Park. I hope you'll get the barge!

  • I really enjoyed watching this Fantastic Video,Haggerston is my Favourite Park in East London.I am really looking forward to seeing the Barge in the near Future :-)

  • Excellent little film on an excellent little park. Keep up the good work.

  • this is a great little film - the only thing wrong with it is that it's too short!! I could watch much more - the history is fascinating!

I also like the ideas for marking the history of the site with the planting of the poplar trees to represent the gasometer and especially the raised bed shaped like a barge in the old barge lock.

This park is a great local resource and has amazing history - it should be celebrated!

  • Thanks to the park team for making this film I always thought Haggerston Park was a bit special. I never knew all that nautical stuff. : )

  • Also in the 1960s I remember they had an adventure playground and a play hut run by what we local children thought of as some nice hippies. I remember in the summer of 1969 when I was about 8 making paper flowers with them and being encouraged to paint flowers on that long wall. It was very flower power. ( we did it before Banksy lol ) Shame there's no photo's its seems to have been forgotten in time.

  • Really interesting film but they skipped over the 1960s when there were streets of prefab houses 'The Mobiles' as we used to call them, they were there after the slums and bombsittes and before the park was renovated. There were two streets of them Maidstone St and Boston St which I think don't exist anymore as they become part of the park and the farm. I think Donkeys live where my house used

    to stand lol.

  • Great film. I walk my dogs in Haggerston Park most days - never knew about it's rich history until the film. Thanks to the park rangers who worked so hard and imaginatively to put this film together

  • Hackney Council should be proud to have such a dedicated team that are interested and proud of Haggerston Park. As a regular user of the park I find they are helpful, welcoming and help make it one of the most enjoyable parks to visit.

The Park Rangers need to be congratulated.

  • Inspiring stuff. Wish you the best of luck with it.
