This sounds mannered, self-indulgent and self-conscious if you don't like it or if you're programmed to regard music in a 'platonic idea'kind of way
I already heard lots of exellent versions of this particular piece were 'the music speaks for itself' all great, but whats the use of everybody playing the same pieces over and over again in the same 'puristic' way..ughh sound like a nightmare to me
Thank god some performers take a chance once and a while..wonderful
This doesn't sound much like a Beethoven Minuetto played like this, namely without feeling. This movement is sublime simplicity but that doesn't mean Musicians shoud breeze through it as if it is another pay check or another day at the office. Give me Isaac Stern any day or Crackly Kreisler even.
Anne-Sophie Mutter ha sido a menina dos olhos do maesttro Herbert von Karajan. Me lembro a uns 20 anos atraz, ele tocando Cravo e ela; Violino. Ela eh sempre habil a me encantar.
Sorry, but I find this quite grotesque. I think this particular movement benefits from a little more classical restraint. Why not just play what's on the page, and let the music speak for itself?
This performance strikes me as mannered, self-indulgent and self-conscious. They play it more like late Brahms than middle-period Beethoven.
The first movement comes off better, but this and the third just don't do it for me.
Well said! "Grotesque" is the word. I would go even further by saying Ms Mutter's mannerisms are next to unbearable in Brahms too! They are next to unbearable ANYwhere. And still, technically she is still one of the very few best violinist active today.
If u care so much about the natural expressions of an artist performing with a pure concentration, means that your concentration in MUSIC is below zero!!!
Do u want her to look like a silly model selling face-cream???
her expression looks strange to you because she's concentrating. thats how real professionals play. watch pro pianists, they move their entire bodies around because they're feeling the music. try watching someone whos just sitting there or standing their rigidly with no emotion and see how that is.
But then... even when pro pianist move too much.. it looks more like.. they're dancing instead of playing... and looks just kinna silly...but that's just my opinion =/

Because we all know that Heifetz moved like crazy... and talk about expression.. that guy couldn't keep a straight face for his life..
everyone's expression is unique.. personally I like ASM's.. Hilary Hahn is the best though.. personality and beauty :)
