I think it is cool how you're learning and such cued speech, but from experience, the sounds don't really matter to the deaf people who i have met. they moved to Sign Language (ASL) because MANY more people use the signed language
Cued Speech has its own place in learning how to pronounce words. It is quite old, around 1910 in Danemark under the name of Forchhammer Mundhandsystem. It never became a communication vehicle among Danish Deaf people as the manual alphabet does. For Dutch, the manual alphabet is completely adequate, since the written letters, for which the manual alphabet represents, correspond almost 100% to the phonemes of spoken standard Dutch. For the late deafened, cueing certainly helps to lipread.
That's great for some however speaking doesn't equal success. Language equals success. The sign language of each country like ASL or is there a Dutch Sign language? That is separate from spoken language, you cannot use both at the same time. Do not try to replace signs with cues-it is not the same.
Cued Speech is not a language it is one of the many teaching tools used to help Deaf kids either talk or learn English structure ( signed english) neither are acceptable as a language...
If you watch the video you'll learn that the lady on the left is the deafened one 1:33

@ASL8306 both of the speakers are using their second language - how can that not be successful?

Cued Speech is not good - very difficult and confusing - more difficult to understand.
Sign Language is best method.

@deafeagle4 I don't think it is accurate to say that Cued Speech is difficult as many people learn it in 5 days whereas a language can take years.

Anieck, ik hoop van harte dat je eerst de gevolgen van cued speeching bij dove kinderen onderzoekt voordat je ze gaat gebruiken bij hun ;)
