Hank Snow sang a song called " The Blind Boys Dog" which relates to the war dogs...
Australia sent thousands of horses to war during WW1 - the Lighthorse.....when the battles were over....the orders were given..."No horses to return" - the soldiers were then ordered to shoot the horses...only one horse was returned to Australia....
Well done! My father served in the Army -Air Force with "Jack" in WWII in Germany, in the medic unit. Well done to you gentlemen and our furry protectors.
(K-9 Divison/Lackland AFB) rip. Today we remember our Father, Tsgt Marcinko and honor him for serving in the military. Because of this Soldier our Father, we received one of the most important gifts a parent can pass on to their children. Engraved in our hearts is a sense of American pride! We grew up with the
K-9's and enjoyed watching them at Lackland AFB. We love our faithful K-9's!
Thanks Dad, loving you more today than yesterday. Your Family
my first dog was an old pit bull, retired from guarding a missle base. He was an incredible dog, who walked the perimeter of our yard several times every day and night for the rest of his life, no rattlesnake ever got by him and he never got bit.
War dogs, police dogs, service dogs, are all heros!
Although my dog became a loyal and loving pet, he was still on duty till the day he died. I know he, and all those poor dogs left in VietNam, is waiting at the Rainbow Bridge.
There was a Discovery Channel documentary called, "War Dogs" and the show was released about three years ago. Not only were the dogs so proficient in saving lives, their tattoos in their ears were trophies to the VC.
It is the hardest show I've ever seen.
Thanks to the dogs and their handlers for your service to our country. May you always be remembered.
more than 4,000 dogs recruited to serve and protect U.S. troops in Vietnam, preventing 10,000-plus American casualties in the process. Yet, only a few of these dogs returned to America at the close of the war. Since these canine heroes were classified by the military as equipment, they were declared "surplus armaments" and either unceremoniously euthanised or left to unknown fates in Vietnam.
EXCELLENT. Thank you and all the dog teams who served so bravely in WWII, Korea, Vietnam, Irag and Afganistan. This memorial goes along with other that have finally been dedicated to them.
Heroes for sure...sadly all but fogotten.....
