@Niedenss2 If it's your first iPod touch, I would go with the newest one....But, if price is the issue then weigh how much you would really use the new features (like built-in mic, and camera, etc.) and get which one you think is better for what you will use it for. Either way, they are both great iPods.

@nowmi99 I would still say that the newest one is better, but not good enough to justify an upgrade from the 3rd gen. If you don't have an iPod and are looking into the purchase, definitely get the 4th, otherwise, 3rd gen is still a great iPod.

@89524 If you are looking for a new iPod, I would recommend the newest ones, not the 3rd gen. If you aren't going to get the 4th gen though, get at least 32 GB, because there is no 3rd gen 8GB, it's just the 2nd Gen. 32 GB is the smallest 3rd gen.

@thefirebug1 Don't get me started on that. There is no 8 GB 3rd Gen. What Apple did was released the 3rd gen (32GB & 64GB) and kept producing and selling the 8 GB 2ND GEN with it. Check Amazon, and Wikipedia and both will confirm that there is no 8 GB 3rd Gen.

@MSStarshineable Unfortunately the build in "Notes" application can not sync notes. There are some apps that will allow you to add files (word, pdf, etc...) to your iPod from your computer.

It says "iPod touch 3rd generation 32GB and 64GB (late 2009)". also search ipod on the amazon website, then click on ipod touch section under "check out all iPods". "Apple iPod touch 8 GB (2nd Generation--with iPhone OS 3.1 Software Installed) [NEWEST MODEL]"

@praetorian2150 I've managed to use up my 32 gb, but I have 34 videos, 1500 songs and loads of apps. I would get the 32 gb just because it is the lowest capacity that is 3rd generation. If you buy the 8 gb, it's not the 3rd generation and wont support multitasking with the 4.0 software update coming out this summer.

@iloveusarah8 Check how much time is left on the bid. Sometimes people start bidding at something like $0.99, but in the last dew days or hours, the bidding gets pretty high. So it is probably legit. Yes there is a 3rd generation, and for everyone who doesn't think so, Apple actually has "3rd generation" on their website now.
