@PicoPicoHammah cat tails swish gently all the time. it shows they're enjoying the attention. however violent swishing might indicate irritation or anger. if you observe cats for awhile you'll definitely see what i mean

It seems Maru prefers to have his chin, chest and belly brushed rather than his back and sides! Very different from most kitties -- mine included! If I tried to brush the belly, I'd pull back bloody fingers...

It is true! Maru's very tolerant of his underside being brushed, but from what I've learned, the stomach is a cat's most vulnerable area on it's body. They'll only allow you to handle it if they are truly loyal to you.

Now I'm not saying you're a bad owner (because I am very sure you're not =) ) but it just may take some time for some cats to become more comfortable. Then again, it could be the cat itself; even if they are loyal, they still might be very protective lol

one of my cats is the same, however if you take her to the vet, or outside, or into just any random, but different area, she's totally docile.

I guess it's the whole deal of taking them out of their element that makes them confused and malleable.
