You can buy the yeast at any food chain. It's just active dry yeast. You can buy them in a packet of 3 or a jar. Yes, you can use cake pan, that's what I used for mine. Just keep in mind that when filling your cake pan don't put too much in or your rice cake will not cook throughly in the 15mins.

er, while your cake never "smile"? btw is it similar to Huat Kuih?

@eagleyige I have never tried to make Huat Kuih, but they look similar. I believe in Huat Kuih it requires cooked rice and fermented sweet rice wine where as in what I made doesn't call for it. I guess that's why it doesn't "smile" :) I'll have to try to make Huat Kuih if I can find some fermented sweet rice wine in my area.
