@rydhwan Salam Bro/Sis, first of all I would just like to point out I am no shiekh or even knowledgeable person for that matter so what i say is just from my own experience and my own opinion. In your life you may be doing something that has led to this problem, a root cause, i suggest you identify and tackle that problem first.
@rydhwan Most importantly i would suggest making dua in the most sincere words possible, do good deeds, educate yourself about islam, taking part in charity and practice islam. hopefully after that belief should be a gift from allah.. trust it doesnt come easy therefore never give up or see it as a burden rather a gift because you have no way out but by becoming closer to Allah.. Anyway i hope I have been helpfull and you escape the mental difficulties you are experiencing.

@rydhwan don't just listen to Quran. Understand it and memorize it. Also you must make sure that you practise prayer regularly and give to charity. If you ever have ANY dilemna in your life then pray and give to charity right away and I gurantee Allah will help you if you don't understand how.For Allah helps in ways in ways you can't think of.

It certainly can be read in its original language. I know a guy who know greek and Hebrew. All the things in the old testament are done with and don't apply. Praise be to God, prayer and peace upon the Messenger of Allah, and after:
God Almighty has allowed fighting in Islam to lift injustice, and oppression of people, and defeat those who stand in order to stop the guidance and the religion of truth.
Jihad in Islam is not intended for itself; the intention was not to harm people, nor shed their blood, but it is a means to disseminate guidance and stop injustice; whether injustice and reality on humans, or unfairly represented in standing in the way of delivering the call of Islam to the people.
Therefore, Muslims do not start fighting until they(disbelievers) starts the fight or if they(disbelievers) were standing in front of the call of Islam.
As this ayah in the question, the Almighty God command to fight those who fight the Muslims, and this is the appropriate justice, and self defense; therefore god said in the verse which preceded:
"Fight in the cause of God those who fight you, but commit no aggress for Allah loveth not aggressors and kill them where you find them ......." [Al-Baqarah :189 -190].
It is not intended to kill the infidel in any place, this is not the act of Muslims. It was the prophet - peace be upon him -forbids his armies of killing women, children, monks, and elderly adults who are not involved in the fighting. Saheeh Muslim (1731), and Sunan Abu Dawood (2614).

In your life you may be doing something that has led to this problem, a root cause, i suggest you identify and tackle that problem first.

@rydhwan Most importantly i would suggest making dua in the most sincere words possible, do good deeds, educate yourself about islam, taking part in charity and practice islam. hopefully after that belief should be a gift from allah.. trust it doesnt come easy therefore never give up or see it as a burden rather a gift because you have no way out but by becoming closer to Allah.. Anyway i hope I have been helpfull and you escape the mental difficulties you are experiencing.

@slykid121 salamalykum, this is where my problem comes from: why believe in religion when it requires belief to make oneself better? is this not exactly the same as the placebo effect used in medicine?? but scientists will tell you that other medicines have a good chance of working from statistics...and thats another thing that bothers me...theres no figures in religion...so I gave up Islam because I began to think it I dont need it becaus it relies on belief which u cant proven...

@rydhwan don't just listen to Quran. Understand it and memorize it. Also you must make sure that you practise prayer regularly and give to charity. If you ever have ANY dilemna in your life then pray and give to charity right away and I gurantee Allah will help you if you don't understand how.For Allah helps in ways in ways you can't think of.

@destinysword99 First off you aren't alone ther are many that think this. But that was back in the old law. Were aren't under the law so that doesn't even apply. It certainly can be read in its original language. I know a guy who know greek and Hebrew. All the things in the old testament are done with and don't apply. Its says in romans 7:6 we have been released from the law. If you want I'll compare chrsitianity verses other religion. It is supreme.
