Do you need to rotate your engine? If so how ? I have a 1975 /2002 model but wasn't sure if I need to rotate my engine before I adjust my valve. Any tips?
Hey i have a 1990 525i and for some reason it sounds like one of my injectors is (miss firing? any idea?) and should i adjust the valves myself often? because it may cost me from what ive heard is a couple hundred to adjust them...
what if i dont have a feeler gauge? am i screwed? should i buy one? my valves really need to be adjusted, theres exhaust residue in that area with the valves, also how do u turn the crank to TDC?
You should DEFINITELY buy a feeler guage. Not sure but I have a feeling if you don't then you have a pretty damn good chance of having a piston slam into a valve meaning you'd have to replace both.
Good video, Thanks man, I have a 91 325ic and I always went by bently manuals recomendation as far as the clearance, which was .010 cold, intake and exhaust. I always got really bad gas milage sometimes 10 mpg , I tryed .013 on both valves cold engine , now i'm getting 18 19 in the city, it's an automatic trans. a BMW mechanic told me once you have to be able to hear the valves in M20 engine, if too quiet then its not good, tighten the nuts on the oil line accross the head too
thankx dude for the clip great clip information.the only question I have is whats the distance of the valve adjustment calibration in mm spacing for a bmw 325 es 1987? thanks....
hi..thanks for this nice video, but can you give me all the step to adjust the valve on a 87 e30 325 bmw .From A-Z .I really need help on doing a valve job.

ooops! i was putting the feeler gauge between valve and rocker and not camlobe and rocker.....Ill be back..

You should not squish a feeler gauge, that's too tight. A feeler gauge should just barely slide in and out with ease.

@JohnxWaynexGacy and you should feel it drag a little bit but not too much

Any chance you could kindly post a video on finding TDC with out removing the timing belt covers
nzjemountfort 1 year ago
@nzjemountfort there's a TDC mark on the front where the crank angle sensor is.
antil33t 1 year ago
@antil33t i suppose the tdc mark would be the 0 and the 15 degrees out is the Z|1 mark, some very interesting markings on my crank angle sensor lol

So why does that matter? It is always the same play....

very helpful. thank you.

you are meant to adjust the gap between the valve and the excentric at TDC not between the cam shaft and the rocker arm
Gruelius 1 year ago
Does this apply to the e34 535i too?

not all engines have rocker arms.

i am aware. this specific bmw m20b25 engine is a sohc 2vpc rocker arm type head though.

Also you are adjusting on the cam, you need to adjust on the stem. Either way, good video

You have the old style headbolts-They were recalled , you should replace them so they dont snap.
