Holy cow, I am freaking out. Haven't heard this since it came out! I am the person who remembers every song ever...this is one of the very few that slipped through the cracks. Wow.
1. Sweet Merilee 2. Promise, The 3. Pretender 4. Love Is Like a Rock 5. That's the Way Love Ought to Be 6. My Girl 7. Broken Promises 8. King Cool 9. Color Me Blue 10. Last to Know, The
Man, I had forgotten about this song! This was right after high school when I got my first job and had just bought a car...cruising with the radio blaring!
I used to hear this song all the time growing up in Pittsburgh. I never hear it since I moved out of town, but the last time I drove into the Burgh I no sooner turned on WDVE and this came on. It was awesome.
You cant depend on your teacher; You cant depend on your preacher; You cant depend on politicians; And you cant depend on superstitions. Hey! Love can rock you! Never stop you! Aah, aah, aah, ah... Love is like a rock! You cant rely on Mother Nature; You cant rely on you paycheck; You cant depend on you doctor; You cant rely on your lawyer. No! Hey! Love can rock you! Never stop you!
Love that old turntable and the crackle. Ahhhhh....the good ole days of sitting in front of the turntable and just playing music all night while eating way too much junk food. :P Thanks for posting this! :)
That turntable sure brings back memories. I remember stacking records until they would slip and mess up the tempo of the music. How did we even survive before cd's?
oh man i had this album: KING COOL! this is so cool. 1982 was a great year for me and music. Donnie Iris and the Cruisers such a great band totally committed to rock and roll. and wow that turntable and the 45's so fucking cool. the drums are so cool in this song. Rock On ppl!!!!!!!!!
I wonder if any 13 year olds have come here and are trying to place the technology somewhere the Model-T the moon landing."Gee, must have been way back when when everybody was black and white and walked around really fast...."
You're welcome Mike ! This was not as big as Ah! Leah! was but I liked this song ! I see that Donnie is still kicking around at 65 , and still rockin' the house everywhere he plays . He's more famous for his songwriting and I think he co-wrote "Play That Funky Music " by Wild Cherry , but I am not that sure , I have to look it up .
Thanks for posting this - a great song and I'm surprised that no one has posted the original video which was him performing this in concert. But he's still the best thing to come out of Pittsburgh!
This great tune reached # 37 in February of 1982. (U.S., Billboard)

Fox News Radio's new intro bumper sounds just like this riff, played by a marching band. I wonder if the producers know.
