  • @1alejo2 really, your brother friend also in the military. My big bro is in the USMC recon serving in Iraq too

  • I can just imagine the shit they went through all day everyday!

  • cant compare this shit to irac.Irac is like Disney Land compared to this hell

  • I thought this mini series was powerful and showed how war is scary and what it does to people. This was the 1st movie that actually made me not want to touch a gun for weeks!

  • japanese 5:10 awipjapa wopi

  • Im not saying its justified but the Japanese at this time where sadistic people who killed/raped hundreds of Filipinos/Chinese

  • @blackcowable

thank you. AND there was Pearl Harbor to avenge

  • Hard

  • @jewjits. i'm dissapointed in you for not being an extra in the series!

  • worst thing about war is killing a man you do not even know. War is politics, its about the ambition and ideology of a country's leader.

If you were a Nazi you wouldve died for Hitler's ideology etc...

War is not something to be toyed around with.

  • @j12torts war is economy, it has almost nothing to do with politics.

  • @greenflag88 that is actually true. Politics just disguise that.

  • @greenflag88 It all dependes on the conflict example the conflict in Iraq toady yes that is economy but Barrbarosa the Axis 1941 invasion of the USSR was about race and politics ( yes there was the oil Baku and vast amount of factories but in the Nazis eyes these where a bouns) as the Facist nations saw the slavs as sub-human and communism as a plague that would spread if they did not counter it at least that was hitlers reason.

  • haha it's funny how people get fired up when they see movies like these

  • I've spotted an enemy machine gunner over.

  • Fuck Japanese I'm glad we bombed them fucking bitches

  • @HONKEYDOG7887 they fought the same way we did, to protect land with a purpose. They were the same as us. Just fighting under a different name.

  • i added my video of my trip tp Peleliu which includes pictures of this bunker. Check out my channel and you'll see it..

  • My brother's friend was telling me about his time in Iraq. I had asked him if he killed anyone and he said yes. Several. And then I asked what it was like. He told me it was terrible. Then he said these exact words.

"Killing a man. That's enough of a terrible feeling as it is. You want to know what's worse than that feeling? Killing a man up close, and getting to look him in the eyes just as he's dieing. There's no worse feeling than that."

What he said gave me some serious chills. So did this..

  • @1alejo2

well unfortionatly, it had to be done in WW2

The american people wanted revenge for all those young boys attacked and killed in Pearl Harbor. After seeing the movie "pearl Harbor" i know *I* did

  • @5:15 mercy kill

  • jewjits... It was filmed in Australia.. But I found the actual real bunker on Ngesebus Island... Next to Peleliu. I had a native guide take me there

  • @Grandizer8989 oh thats sik bro aye yea ur comment made me trip out cose they filmed near where i live

  • snafu reminds me of nick diaz

  • @jewjits Except Snafu is French Cajun

  • @HaggenPagan26 french cajun?

  • I just returned from 3 days on Peleliu and actually found this exact bunker which is really on a neighboring island. Its still in good shape but filled with water. Found several MGs and a flame thrower canister nearby too. Look for my pix on here soon.

  • @Grandizer8989 wasnt this all filmed in australia?

  • @jewjits Yeah, Snafu is French American. Born on the Bayous of Louisiana.

  • @HaggenPagan26 yea but was prtrayed as a dick same as diaz so happy he lst to condit

  • im japanese, we do not have the custom to say like "holy jesus" when its in the danger lol

    but good movie for sure.

  • lol he want to shot the grenade

  • They shouldn't have shot the japs why they were burning .

  • @TheMick18 I think the resin why is because it better to take a bullet then burn alive.

  • The men they were shooting had lifes to. Thats why he was sad.

  • what's he so sad about?

  • @YoungKoolness17 Isn't it quite obvious? After seeing all that, you're not gonna forget it and he was looking right the Jap right in the face too.

  • @berserker276 the enemy cut the penis off his dead comrades probably while still alive, if i were him i would be claiming my prize as slaying a jap would do (trophy collecting)

  • @StonewallJackson26 you mean like Germany?

  • True though. The most brutal fighting of WW2, took place in the Pacific and the Eastern Front.

  • Comment removed

  • @88Scatter Most Chinese soldiers who were taken prisoner by the Japanese would not live long enough to even experience captivity. The Japs have such high contempt as well as low opinion for the Chinese that most captured Chinese soldiers are simply shot on the spot.

  • @ivan78174 Most Chinese prisoners were not shot but bayoneted by the Japanese because they didn't want to waste bullets on them.

  • The banzai part was a picture finish geez

  • FUCK THE JAPS. Kill em all. They deserve it

  • Hell, after a battle like that, I'd take the sword of the dead Jap that tried to kill him. Help boost the squads morale.

  • A fucked up scene..

  • All this arguing about which theatre was worse is ignorant and idiotic. They both were terrible. The japanese were cruel and barbaric, but the germans were tenacious, organized, and far more deadly man for man. Terrible suffering happened in both theaters. Look at the landings on June 6th 1944. That was true hell.

  • It's OK. The Japanese soldiers had to go to war. They didn't mean to kill so much.

  • @vietanhdao1 THEY DID..MEAN TO KILL ALOT!! but u know....they were innocent...some of them were dragged to war..and if they didnt kill..theyd kill that soldiers family...

  • Does anyone else now experience the brutally of war..yeah they make these violent video games because they thought war was fun...now look at the real version of war..does this even begin to look fun?.. For Eugene sledge it was cruel and harsh war is not fun it's just..sad and brutal T-T

  • From this movie i say that the US had right to burn em japanese

  • @MrDoubleKiller They shouldn't have shot them afterwards. The sick fucking yellow pricks came up with atrocities that the most hardened Nazi or Soviet couldn't dream off.

  • Wait. Did that guy at the beginning get shot in the dick???

  • @davidknights333 It doesent really matter where he was shot, he's probably dead. His dick is useless to him now.

  • @TheEclipze55 good point

  • War is hell. Video games glorify it which is why we have so much shit talking on each other when in reality a soldier is the same in any side because they both do the same thing, follow orders. Some follow orders that are more cruel, but they have to because they are soldiers. Every soldier goes through the same exact emotions during war i mean after all we are humans and not robots.

  • 3 people are japanese

  • Almost EVERYONE who committed atrocities and war crimes in WWII is dead now, so stop bickering back and forth like schoolyard children, especially since most of you aren't old enough to personally witness it or have any idea of the feelings and positions of people during that time. Just be glad each country turned out the way they did, as opposed to what they could have been.

  • Hello everyone, I am Japanese. I am not asking for any forgiveness, but I just ask that you all accept my apology for what my people did in World War 2. I know it was wrong, and I don't deny that. I am not asking for any forgiveness, but I would like to say that I am sorry.

  • @pumaturtle From a retired US Marine, served in the 1990s, who is half German and had relatives in the WW2 Wehrmacht, I both understand and accept what you say. Be glad we live in 2011.

  • @pumaturtle Don't be, it was a whole different generation of Japanese. YOU have nothing to be sorry for.

  • @pumaturtle You dont have to apologize, after all it was the japanese soldiers not the entire people that did the atrocities

  • @pumaturtle i accept your apology

  • 4:10 japanese captain? reason for asking is because hes carrying a sword

  • @Cicadapaladin027 He's an Officer, most Officers or any higher ranking soldiers carried a sword.

  • In a Japanese soldiers point of view, dying by the hands of the enemy in anyway, cruel or not,is the most honorable thing

  • What were they talking about at the beginning about the fox hole and japs

  • @Americanpride01343 2 GIs were shot by their own men during the night and one was bitching about it. The Japanese soldiers had sneaky ways of killing Marines, they'd pretend to be dead, pretend to surrender, slip between the lines in the middle of the night and kill Marines any way they could. Find "Gunny Haney" speech here on YouTube for more about it.

  • The Japanese actually believed it to be a damning action to be captured. By doing so, they would disgrace themselves, and the rest of their families forever in the afterlife. In the eyes of the Japanese, what you call cruelty was actually the Americans giving them an honorable death, worthy of recognition in the afterlife. That isn't why they did it, but you can't consider it cruelty.

  • Fry 'em, Womack!

  • the immense brutality of the pacific war was unimaginable the sacrafice and bravery showed by these marines was unforgettable and it also makes me think the amount of casualties we took in WWII about 250,000 the carnage in the civil war was 3x worse about 600,000 people would be killed in the same amount time we were in WWII show all your respect to all veterans. R.I.P all who have fallen in the line of duty for our country.

  • why did that guy just stand there when he saw the grenade? he had time to throw himself to the side.

  • @topperheartramada

Because Bill Leyden was actually wounded by a grenade blast in real life during this event which also happened in real life.

    Holy shit man...

  • @WunderDoob yeah, but that doesn't answer my question. unless he actually stood there and stared at the grenade instead of jumping to the side.

  • @topperheartramada

I'm sure that's exactly how it went down. Did you know that in real life you don't have time to scream, "R-P-G!" ? You usually don't have time to scream, "Grenade!" either, it just detonates.

  • @WunderDoob well i've never been in a war so maybe if someone threw a grenade at me i'd freeze from the shock. it's just that these guys look like they've been in similar situations and should know how to handle themselves. if you look closely they just shout 'grenade' and then they stand there for a few seconds during which they could have made a few paces an thrown themselves on the ground.

  • @topperheartramada because it would be too typical since most movie heroes do that, besides i think their reaction is realistic. I mean imagine yourself in a heat of battle and a grenade was thrown on you, i don't think youd take the chance of picking up a live grenade, i mean you don't know how long is that grenade been cocked or how it actually works since its an enemy weapon. Most of the time our instincts would tell us to get the fck out as fast as possible.

  • seriously, at 0:00, start playing the song "the minstrel boy" from black hawk down.

  • @canaanclb oh, and don't forget to mute the video.

  • Eeeeeerrrrrmmmm guys saying the American civil war battles were the bloodiest ever heard of D-DAY ?????????????

  • @assassin57000 look it up one civil war battle (antietam) had twice more blood and deaths then d-day.

  • @assassin57000 On d-day the allies took arround 12,000 total, thats killed, wounded, missing. On Omaha they took 3,000 and arround almost 1,000 killed. Have you heard of Chickamauga, over 34,000 casualties total, arround 1,650 killed and 9,750 wounded on Union and over 2,000 killed and over 14,000 wounded Confederate. Many Civil War battle casualties were this high and fighting was just as bloody as d-day.

  • @AUG351 Look up the Battle of Cannae the Romans took casualties of at least 50,000 in one battle in one day and that was all done with swords, spears and arrows. You want brutality go read up on the punic wars between Rome and Carthage.

  • @ImaginedWriter Yeah, wasn't Cannae the bloodiest one day battle in history because the next bloodiest one day battle would be the battle of Borodino in the Napoleonic wars with about 35,000 casualties on Napoleons side and about 45,000 on the Russian side with over 6,500 killed on both sides and thousands died of wounds later. Historian Gwynne Dyer compared the carnage at Borodino to a fully-loaded 747 crashing, with no survivors, every 5 minutes for eight hours.

  • @AUG351 cannae was worse single day battle in western history, ancient china and india have had worse though

  • @TOMARIN1667

You are saying that Jap POWs were ill treated? Do you know of this incident called the Bataan Death March?? Where thousands of American and Filipino POWs died as a result of abuse, starvation and murder?? Also, at the end of the march, do you know what kind of crammed and unsanitary rat-holes these POWs were housed in?? Do you know what kind of beatings and torture these POWs were subjected to for the slightest offence?

  • @ivan78174 It's not just the Bataan Death March. American and British POWs under Japanese captivity in general faced a death rate of 33% and 24%, with the average Western POW death rate at a whopping 27%. That goes, the Chinese suffered even worse - only a few dozen POWs survived to see the end of the war.

  • @ivan78174 Yeah, they had some of the worst torture of ww2, some accounts say they would sometimes run a water hose down their throat and fill your stomach full of water then jump on it pushing all your guts out their mouth. Also they would peel off finger nails and stab prisoners with bayonets just for not greeting a Japanese soldiers. It was living hell for those men.

  • @AUG351 Jesus Christ..

  • @ivan78174 That's right, those fucking Nips deserved no respect as fellow human beings. I enjoy seeing them get killed and insulted very much.

  • por la culpa de la seria me di sen el japonesio

  • WAIT WAIT WAIT!!!! SOMEONE TELL ME PLEASE!!!!!!!!!! what did tomarin1667 say?

  • @iamgamer741 I can't find his original comment, but basically it seems like he's a Japanese nationalist, claiming fake reports of Japanese soldiers massacaring civillians and trying to use Japanes POW deaths at a prison camp riot, and also calling anyone that presents evidence agains his claims "brainwashed" and "lacking in study". TBH, I really hope that people with his ideas are a VERY small minority in Japan

  • @MauledByADuck They are a small minority. The extreme right wing groups in Japan number only roughly 100 thousand, very tiny when compared with the entire population in Japan. By the way, many these groups are also closely connected with Yakuza gangs, some even operated by the Yakuza themselves. They also have a notorious reputation of using violence, attempted assassinations and harassment.

  • 4:23 thats the face that made me remember The Pacific.

  • How could anyone say that the Japanese didn't do this?

  • Every war is civil....if it is Human vs. Human

  • If only it was Korea then i could say smells like Korean BBQ

  • war is war. god is not there to help. shit happens

  • If you think this is bad and awful, the Russians did MUCH worse to the krauts in the eastern front.

  • Does anyone know what song from the pacific soundtrack this is playing? at like 5:15?

  • I wouldn't want a carbine. Don't get me wrong it is a great rifle! And i know these guys have 'em cuz they're mortar men, but shit I'd want a Garand. I learned how to shoot with a carbine when I was like 10, 12 ish, it's just...not that powerful

  • I think the only American war as bloody as the Pacific theater of ww2 would be the Civil War, both had the most chaotic bloody battles of any American war. Thousands were killed in the battles and are both probably the bloodiest fighting America has ever seen.

  • @AUG351 It's a FACT that the Civil War is LITERALLY the bloodiest war the US had seen in its entire history - over 600 thousand soldiers alone died. Damned to know how many civilians were killed in a war that large.

  • @SuperBomber01 Yes and out of those over 400,000 of those were from disease and over 600,000 were wounded, and out of 1,000 soldiers in battle 150 would be wounded. Also some regiments were almost completely wiped out in minutes in some cases like the 26th North Carolina, which lost 700, of its 800 men, also the 1st Maine Artillery lost 635 of its 9oo men in 7 min at Petersburg.

  • @AUG351 Indeed. If one sees through it, the combat and conditions troops had to endure in the American Civil War and the Crimean War, not to mention the tactics and technology introduced foreshadowed the horrors of the First World War.

  • @AUG351 Bloody? Ever heard of Battle of Hürtgen Forest and Bulge?

  • @TigerClaws12894 Have you ever heard of Battle of Spotsylvania, Cold Harbor, or Franklin. Remeber those battles like Hürtgen Forest were over several months and the Battle of the Bulge almost a month but Civil War battles were only a few days with tons of casualties. Yeah there was some intence fighting in those battles but nothing like the chaos of the Civil War where hundreds of men were killed in minutes.

  • @TigerClaws12894 Civil War battles were the most chaotic of any American battles. Imagine thousands of men attacking fortified postions back and forth and the battlefields covered with smoke from thousands of muskets and were incredibly loud. Soldiers said there were at times so many bullets flying they could see them flying arround like tons of bees cutting everything down arround them.

  • Thats one kick ass old guy!!

  • @BlackHawkDown875 Who are you talking about?

  • Why didn't he kick the grenade down?

  • My favourite scene ever. right, people who are gonna watch this, just ignore the comments below me. just check the history books rather than these guys arguing :)

  • @dorobot05 Or check Sledge's own book to see if this scene has been exaggerated a bit. 'With the Old Breed' if you're interested. Which reminds me, I still need to read it lol.

  • @berserker276 Actually, this has been modified fairly extensively. The bunker attack was not on Peleliu, but on Ngesebus Island, and there are other minor details modified for cinematic effect and story line continuity. Can't get the whole thing in such a short mini-series. Try reading "Brotherhood of Heros", a great book on the battle of Peleliu.

  • @Toddinfantry Is that book the one written by Bill Leyden? And I already have 'With the Old Breed' so I can read that, after I read Leckie's one that is. By the way, I swear I am seeing your name everywhere lol, on almost every war video I go to.

  • @berserker276 No, written by a historian named Sloan. I show up all the time trying to keep the truth about history from being killed by the ignorant or misinformed. Nobody will teach this subject correctly anymore, so I am a self-appointed "defender of the facts". My mission is to educate and keep our proud history, both good and bad, from being revised into utter BS. Just look at what you get on most of these vids.

    Semper Fi !

  • @Toddinfantry Oh right, I swear Leyden wrote a book though. And yea it's funny how people still argue about WWII which occured around 70 years ago, trying to make other countries look bad.

  • @berserker276 I have never heard of any books written by him, but he did become a big game show host. I just love the ppl that post about the Japanese like they were there to develop such hatred for things that they weren't even born yet to see. F..in Japs this and f...n Nips that....while they probably have never met an actual Japanese.

  • @Toddinfantry Lol look what he's said to you now.

  • There were war crimes for all the countries in WW2. The Axis motives were Wrong. But The allies were cruel sometimes as well. Than again, i understand why. Most of the time however, the axis POW's were treated with some respect, mercy, and care. the Japanese on the other hand, were probably the most cruel soldiers of their time. there was no respect or mercy whatsoever for allied POW's. Every country does F*cked up things in war. Germany and the U.S. have admitted to this. Japan however...-_-

  • Fucking awesome scene

  • Yanks cruelness. kill all yanks.

  • @TOMARIN1667 -If your country had the moral courage to admit their WWII war crimes to their own people you'd realise how incredibly hypocritical that statement is. The butchery and barbarism of Japanese troops towards their enemies during that conflict has left a stain on Japan that your country is too dishonest even to educate you about. At least the Germans admit that what their troops did was wrong. Your cowardly country is still living a lie. Blind fool.

  • @Biggus63 Your country(USA?) should accept WWⅡwar crimes. Your country cut down on an atomic bomb to Hirosima and Nagasaki. You murdered a lot of women and children without the crime mercilessly.

  • @TOMARIN1667 - I am an Australian you fool.

  • @Biggus63 Oh,I am sorry. You are Australian. Do you know Cowra Japanese soldier captive slaughter case? Your country killed a lot of Japanese soldier at Cowra Prisoners' camp in 1944. Captive slaughter is war crimes.

  • @TOMARIN1667 - They were attempting a prison breakout mate, and they managed to kill four of the guards as well. That hardly fits the description of 'captive slaughter'.

  • @Biggus63 It is a duty that the captive escapes. Japanese soldier captive surely murdered four Australian guard out of necessity. But Australian soldier killed 231 Japanese soldier. Why was it necessary to killl such most? It is certainly captive slaughter.

  • @TOMARIN1667 OR FACE UTTER DESTRUCTION. guess what, no response. there is alot i would like to explain why what you said is bullshit, but im over this now. peace

  • @TOMARIN1667 japs killed 2000 u.s prisinors in the philipines

  • @booger965 Do you say for "Bataan death march"? US prisnor died of a disease. They marched with japanese soldier. But US prisnor were physically weak.

  • @TOMARIN1667 no i mean the death march when japanese soldiers killed u.s soldiers and countless other times when u.s soldiers were toutured by the japs and then be-headed after

  • @TOMARIN1667 ..war crimes? man people are fuckin stupid..the bomb was fucked up, i agree in some cases, but so was this war. what if we didnt drop it and we invaded? how about those millions shot down because we invaded, and then, another couple years of war added with ANOTHER millions of deaths b/c we invaded, knowin we discussed before we invaded? we warned japan many times. we air dropped messages to their people only to have them scraped away by the jap army..we put it blatently, SURRENDER..

  • @TakeyoLifebitch You are wrong! Did you kill a lot of civilian because Japan was not surrender? I can understand that soldiers were killed on the battlefield. But, WWⅡUS air bomb killed a lot of women and children without the crime mercilessly. You didn`t directly warn them. Civilian murder is war crime.

  • @TOMARIN1667 right and the way the germans, russians, or japanese approached civilian death was that of a pure saint..i know of civilian deaths, so if you wanna talk of civilian death that is actually a "war crime", you really gotta read more into this..god the stories i heard from those people...a german woman was raped by 15 russian men..germans tortured and raped their victims..the japs took pictures of their deeds with smiles..the civilians get the worse of it all, but the u.s. didnt go on

  • @TOMARIN1667 genocidal campaigns for the stupidest fucking reasons known to man.. the enemy is obvious, and your really picking on the wrong one..The u.s. is not proud of the people they kiled, in fact, my forefathers cried for those people and vowed never to go and fight for the sake of civilan right DUE to the fact of what they saw the JAPANESE and such doing to their OWN people and what we had done too..ill let you decide, though i know what your answer will be, i respect it otherwise,..

  • @TOMARIN1667 Lol "crime" haha u make me laugh just as japan did in Manchuria and in the philipines and if we didnt drop those "atomic bombs" japan would have been colonized by americans plus majority of the population of japan was arming themselves(including civilains)(was dectected by recon plane :P) after the victory of Okinawa and a few other islands and i think was it the midway and some other sea or some shizz like that....so it was either hundreds of lives OR ALMOST a whole nations lives

  • @Biggus63 world war II was so fucked up, even their grand children felt it, BAM! no but seriously WWII fucked up Japans culture...it was kind of their fault but still, you are totally right

  • @AlexSaysHi2013 -I have nothing against the Japanese people per se-actually I find them extremely polite and I just love the food, it just pisses me off that they venerate some of these butchers as heroes, that's all mate.

  • @Biggus63 they weren't ALL butchers, like Kurabaichi, the defender of Iwo Jima, he wasn't a butchers, granted there were a lot of war crimes with the Japanese, but still

  • @Biggus63

Yes the Americans cowards threaten my kind say I do not deserve to live but I am a proud communist and the americans can soak in there own vomit

  • @Marshall2431 - Well I'm not American, I'm actually Australian and since your profile says you're 15 I'm going to do you a big favour and ignore your comments. You can hardly be a 'proud communist' when you're 15 and living off your parents now can you?

  • And the Japs did say what they did was wrong but you cannot blame an entire country for a few mens fault

  • Comment removed

  • @TOMARIN1667 You stupid fucking cunt. Maybe people like myself wouldn't hate Jap sympathizers like you if your country just admitted to these warcrime atrocities. The Rape of Nanking, sound familiar? You're talking about Americans killing Japanese civilians where Japanese soldiers would bayonet and bury Chinese civilians alive. You ought to be slaughtered.

  • @someguy816 Are you Chinese Canadian? You are lacking in study. You shoud study true history. Nanjing slaughter is a forgery of the Chinese Communist Party. "The Rape of Nanking"book is fake at all. Iris Chang of writter were purchased by Chinese anti-japanese group. She repented having written a lie and committed suicide.

  • @TOMARIN1667 No asshole, I'm not Chinese. Nor am I lacking in study. It really is sad that your country won't man up and admit to your atrocities. The more you deny them, the less respect other countries will have for you. You don't have to read a book admit the Nanking Massacre to know it's real........

  • @someguy816 We cannot admit fake of Nanking massacre. The books that you read about Nanking massacre is not truth. Japanese military surely battled against Chinese military in Nanking. But,Chinese military was dressed like the Chinese citizen. Therefore,Japanese military cannot distincted enemy and citizen. Japanese military was wrong unavoidable and might murder a citizen. But,They didnot kill so a lot of citizen. The Chinese Communist Party glossed over the number that it spoiled.

  • @TOMARIN1667 Too bad there are thousands of documented cases of your war crimes. You killed thousands of POWs by death marches and beheadings, you specifically targeted medics, you bayonetted Chinese women and children.

  • @Meirstein You shoud study more truth history in university. Especially,You should know which is true. You must not be deceived in a false history book by Chinese and US.

  • @TOMARIN1667

you are brainwashed, like many of the japanese, and are convinced that the japs did nothing. explain the use of australian prisoners as bayonet practise, and when they were dead, food. explain the hundreds of thousands of witnesses who swear to seeing japanese cruelty. explain nanking. explain the beheading of civilians. the japanese government are cowards who cannot say sorry for or admit their war crimes. do what the germans did and say sorry and admit your crimes

  • @MyLegend360 It is you to be brainwashed. All the contents which you demand explanation from are lies. You must not watch only a book and the picture that oneself is convenient. Your country Australia is saying the false history. You shold more study about truth. You Australian killed many Japanese soldier in Cowla prisonar. Do you know the truth?
