911 There is new petition out by bold progressives that needs signatures. It has 120,000 and they want 150,000. I have the link to it in the comment section of my profile. Sign it and then pass it on!
Good News! AARP & the American Medical Assn have just announced that they're supporting the House health reform bill.
I'm in shock. They have always opposed any kind of reform. I guess that shows how bad the current system has gotten that even the AMA now admits we have to fix it.

Grayson...moron...no matter what expectations the people who voted for you have...WE THE PEOPLE still have a Constitution and this Country was founded against a overpowering government, read the Declaration of Independence...
We are not a Democracy...We have Rights that supercede your vote in Congress...YOU derive your PRIVELEDGE to vote from WE THE PEOPLE...
Please, protect our Rights...nothing more...
no more of this Socialist/Progressive agenda bullshit...
nice...quoting someone who shredded the Constitution more than Bush and Obama combined...
The electoral process is democratic...the Representative voting process is democratic, to an extent...this is the ONLY way to keep the government to "The People"...but, luckily for us, the founders realized the threat of a democracy and limited these "democratic ways" to an area "...not to exceed 10 square miles..."
Point to me where the word "Democracy" is used in the founding documents...good luck.
The Preamble begins, 'We, the People of the United States . . . '
not, 'We the House of Representatives and the Senate . . . '.
The Founders couldn't quite imagine illiterate farmers voting, so they created a democracy of landowners. That was a huge leap forward. They called it 'a republic' which meant it was 'not ruled by a king'.
Today we recognize that every single adult has the right to vote. A democracy of the whole People.
What's exciting about what the Founders did was not that we had representatives. Parliaments have been around forever.
What was different was that they started a process that culminated in 1920 and 1964 that fulfilled the promise in the line from the Declaration, 'deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed'.
When our representatives go awry, as Republican Senators and Conservative Democrats have in the health care debate, it is up to 'the governed' to govern government.
The People are a lazy sovereign, easily mislead and easily frightened, but in any other form of government, the benevolent dictator becomes more and more corrupt until he becomes a tyrant because he reacts to any attempt to correct him with violence.
"Democracy is the worst form of government . . . but it's better than all the others!" --Churchill
People who are against government of The People, by The People, and for The People have to explain which elite group should rule the country instead and how we should -select- who the true members of that elite group are!
The truth is, anyone who has any kind of healthy self-esteem believes that -they- are the people who should really be the ruling elite.
And in my experience, a lot of very humble, self-effacing Americans are actually wiser when they vote than the rest of us.
We can debate health care, but one thing me you and everyone will agree on. When we get sick, we want to be able to get treated immediately and without any worries.
I would like a health care system similar to that of the UK, which I believe is a single-payer system. That makes sense for the most part, but then again it doesn't make sense. I almost never get sick and it would drive me over the edge to lose 60% of my income to taxes.
I think we can provide health insurance for 300 million Americans for -less- than we currently pay to cover 250 million Americans because costs are rising so rapidly.
If we slow the rate of growth, we'll end up -saving- billions very soon.
As a liberal, I believe we should do the kind of thing that Clinton and Obama did. I think we should CUT taxes on people earning less than $400,000 and shift the tax burden to people earning more than $400,000 a year.
Me too. He obviously wants to spend the rest of his life in Wash. Hopefully those who elected him will lose next time. We don't need these kinds of sh!tbag professional politicians in Wash anymore.
She's great when she yells at people, but that's about it.
Free markets are always a good thing, there's no growth without it, but not when there are no penalties against individual people/entities who can turn the entire economy on its head due to their economic persuasion and personal greed.
Government needs to be there as a referee to ensure that, while people continue to making money, they aren't placing the rest of us in unnecessary risk. Radical deregulation is not the answer.
This is an opinion show. Journalism is facts only. God... why don't Americans know this anymore? Journalism only answers: Who, what, when, where.. and occasionally "why". These two people are expressing opinions on today's events. Grayson is tough on both parties and wants to see progressive change. I watch because I do to... others watch because they don't. That's what the FIRST AMENDMENT is alllll about.
"The republican answer is... less government intrusion."
Unless, of course, that intrusion is into the most personal and private aspects of someone's life, such as their sexuality, a woman's control over reproduction, and religion (which they would love to force into the school system).
Seems like MSNBC and CNN have been trying very hard to do their liberal impression of fox news. Although, I think they have more facts on their side, it's still mildly annoying.
Does this lady know anything about politics? She's too loud for me.
To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven
Ecclesiastes 3:1
I tend to agree that government should be small, and a large government can pose a threat to freedom if left unchecked, but there are some things more dangerous to freedom then government.
I hope Obama will follow the example of Teddy Roosevelt and pick up his muck-rake, although that looks less and less likely as of late.
Left and Right are real... it's mental laziness to ascribe to this notion that it's all some NWO conspiracy. MENTAL SLOTH. Now, you could also point out that money corrupts it all and that;s why we need to throw them all out... but you probably watch Alex Jones... so .. you're no help.

We're a democracy. We elect representatives, but we don't have rule by representatives.
We have government of, by, and for The People.

So, unfortunately, there IS no superior elite we can just hand 100% of the power to so we can all go off and take a nap.
Better that we -all- read the papers and -all- vote. Especially in Primary elections, since that's where our government is actually chosen.
ReliableInsider 2 years ago
Of course . . . if we all voted in Primary elections . . . that would take all the power away from our political parties* . . .
heh heh!
Let's -do- it!
*Because then the voters would be choosing the candidates rather than the party bosses.

President Obama is still campaigning. Now that he's in office he's confused.
