  • One of the best songs ever~

  • incredible how the lyrics, which tell a story that stops before it goes anywhere, are weighted down with significance by the music. very masterful.

  • I can't see any Charlie top comments here , but oh well Charlie brought me here <3 .

  • Slow immortel inspiré par l'Aria de la Suite n°3 BWV 1068. Procol Harum étaient des admirateurs passionnés de Bach.

  • It is the song of my first slow and I still love it!

  • I use to shoot alot of heroin and once while I was high and I got lost while driving thru the ghetto trying to cop and this song came on the radio. I immediately mellowed and said if I got to get shot or ripped off, here, while I am lost, I couldn't think of a better way to go(with of course this music as a back drop). Clean from heroin and all drugs and alcohol for 26years. Thanks Proco

  • @62946magic I'm happy for you =)

  • May I recommend the book 'A Pop Revolution, the transatlantic music scene 1965 to 1969' by the invisible man. The author is a big fan of this track.

  • Encontré esta canción mencionada en un libro, la busqué y en cuanto la pongo, llegó mi mamá a decirme que esa canción era hermosa y que le traía muchísimos bellos recuerdos.

Gracias por hacer feliz a mi mamá (:

  • 10/10 absolutely exceptional song...timeless classic ;)

  • Esta cancion tiene un sitio en la historia. Y no le pasa el tiempo, n i le pasará.

  • @txemata1 tan cierto.

  • I Still Love This Song!!!

  • one of the best

  • This wonderful song with wonderful years of my youth ..., carefree years, complete freedom, mountain trips - even when the grass was greener, the sky more blue and the sun brighter ...

I was also probably whiter whites - white and pure like your first love!

    How then wanted to LIVE!

  • One of the best songs - EVER

  • happy 420 all over the world. peace n joy.

  • I knew a dude that flipped out on acid and we played him this song and he Mellowed

    down into the groove

  • @mispistoleros.....love your description of this great song...Whiter shade of Pale has special meaning to me...an electric moment in time.....I will never forget...

  • Thanks NSHEP53! I appreciate it.

  • Can't see the info to click on!

  • @Samrx60 where is says "Show more"

  • one day, i stepped into an elevator and heard this song redone as muzak. i felt profoundly melancholic and old...

this is one of those few songs that immediately throws me into a timeless space..an overwhelming pathos for the human condition...

    thnx, nshep...

  • @mispistoleros your welcome!

  • @mispistoleros ah you mean you heard the annie lennox version, i see.

  • @ekato11, LOL...the muzak version is better...

  • make me happy

  • el naufragar m'è dolce in questo mare

  • GREAT MUSIC NWOULD BE NICE TO DANCE TO

  • gosh, the music is beautiful

  • @katiegreenaway interesting ;What song by Scarlatti ?

  • If you want a massive hit record just use the word "fandango". Queen did that as well with Bohemian Rhapsody. Of course you have also got to get 'magic mix' of singing, lyrics, backing music and ATMOSPHERE!

  • The last 2 seldom heard verses are:

She said, 'I'm home on shore leave,'

though in truth we were at sea

so I took her by the looking glass

    and forced her to agree

saying, 'You must be the mermaid

who took Neptune for a ride.'

But she smiled at me so sadly

    that my anger straightway died

  • @CrocNGator If music be the food of love [then laughter is its queen

and likewise if behind is in front

then dirt in truth is clean

My mouth by then like cardboard

seemed to slip straight through my head

    So we crash-dived straightway quickly

    and attacked the ocean bed

  • @CrocNGator Thanks for those last lyrics to the verses

. I only wishedthat they pl;yed those last paragraph with Neptune swiming to the ocen floor making love with the mermaid under the sea. It sounds so roamntic. I just with aftert use my brain as a synthiser that caN PLAY THIS SONG INTERNALY.Well I was once a sailor and almost drowned at sea so I wish to have this song played at my funeral.- Thanks Frank of Boston!

  • . I head John Lennon Said he never wrote music the same after he herd a whiter shade of pale. .It is , Chausers Candaberry Tails. The Story of a stage couch, traving cross England; as all the people , told a story to pass the time.. This is the Millers tale. It once was a question in Trival Prusuit game. It is my all time favorite song. I have a Cd of almost ever one that covered it. Truly a hunting soung to my soul. LOVE IT. Need spell check..lol

  • @ralphiam

Yeah, I read in a book about the Beatles that they (the Beatles) were driving along in their psychedelic Rolls Royce one day, high, and listening to this song over and over. They supposedly LOVED this song.

  • @ralphiam I know for fact that John was very obbseed with this song . He would ride around England with his white Rolce Royce and play it over and over. Dam give me any car with a good sound and I can do that now hear in Boston!

  • @ralphiam Thanks for that info, I've been hearing it in my head for the past week, and decided I must hear it, so Youtube it was, and this is the 1st time I ever saw the lyrics, and I was amazed at how many I had got wrong. I used to think that "As the miller told his tale" was "as the minotaur his tale" and of course after seeing "Miller" I thought of Chaucer, even though I have not read Canterbury Tales It was interesting to hear about John Lennon thought of the music. I love his stuff as well

  • @B0rnles13 Too funny......same here, I always heard it as "the minotaur". The song sounded even more mysterious and other-worldly back in the 60s when I had no idea what the lyrics were, and thought I was hearing mythic tales of Vestal virgins and minotaurs. LOL.

  • @B0rnles13 I saw the canterbury tales rated x version back in 1980.I wounder if John had seen it?

  • @quackdebbie A dude is drunk at a party and hooks up with a chick
