The STATE are nations - the FED is a UNION - like "United Nations"
THERE IS NO “FAIR” WAGE FOR TEACHERS. The closest we can come is that wage structure produced from negotiations between a strong teachers union and a powerful government body. Pitting a SINGLE employee against a powerful state government or a multi-national corporation is laughingly unfair. Only through COLLECTIVE bargaining between these entities can something approaching a “fair” wage be reached.
The Internet is being used to revolutionize societies. Tell your Congressman to rewrite the “Employee Freedom of Choice Act” so it uses the Internet to allow workers to request and conduct union votes DIRECTLY with the NLRB. Truly secret votes where employers can’t identify and fire organizers. Force employers to bargain with unions 30 days after a successful vote. Bring in an arbitrator 30 days later if no contract is in place. In 2012 VOTE for Obama, House & Senate majorities and pass it!

Why are teachers and public employees being scapegoated for problems they did not cause? Perhaps schools and government can be run more efficiently but cutting salaries, benefits, and removing collective bargaining rights won't fix that problem.
For a couple hundred years, public services in states were funded by taxes. How come nowadays big bankers get tax relief while middle-class public employees are forced to give up their right to unionize and have to fund deficits out of their pockets.
Could it be that the elective process has become corrupted through rich corporations donating money to representatives who favor their interests?
Will conservative legislators be willing take pay cuts too? Nope, the GOP's now unionized.
These fucking union workers and others who wish to get money at the taxpayers' expense should be smacked with a wet noodle. These lazy union workers are pitiful. All you need to know about war is that we shouldn't wage it. Buddy, the world is going through a revolution. We're all going to be part of it!
@TAMARLANE I am hesitant to take this conversation to that area, but I will address one thing. The way that we went about ending slavery was completely unconstitutional. The South had the constitutional right to secede from the Union, as does any state in the Union today. The reason that the civil war was the bloodiest war in our history, was not because it's aim was to free the slaves, that was done as a punishment to the South. It's aim was to quell any future dissent. Which they did. Well.
Also, Communism still exists... in fact the new super-power happens to be a communist country! Our current political system is becoming more fascist and extremely more socialist by the day, and THAT has been happening for the better part of 100 years. The short response to your reply is that war has never solved anything. Period.
@LIBERTYINSURGENCY Why would you ignore fascism in your assessment about the value of war?
Would you stipulate that the cold war ended the communist empire called Soviet RUSSIA?
????
Nothing is forever. Happiness and success are no goals to be achieved. They are but temporary victories in life> The more you stack closely together the happier and more successful you will be.
Freedom is not engraved in stone either. It must be won over and over again. A war is being waged as I type this.
@TAMARLANE Well it seems like we have an agreement. Freedom must be fought for. Wars are being waged around the globe. The most destructive wars are being waged by our own troops. The cold war didn't end Soviet Russia. The people of Soviet Russia did. Believe it or not they became more democratic due to the cold war. (which was more a war of information than anything) The reason I "ignored fascism" (which I addressed in the second post) was due to the restraints of the posts, and the fact
@TAMARLANE that it didn't help support the point that I wanted to make. The fact is that the US has been at war for the nearly the entirety of it's existence! We ALWAYS have an enemy with which to wage a war and in recent history we have not "won" any of them. (if they can be considered war because the act of declaring war seems to be a little bit of a gray area as of late) And if you think that any of the wars that we have waged in the last hundred years were to defend the freedom of the US
@LIBERTYINSURGENCY You need to learn who we have fought and why. You also need to know what would have happened if we had not intervened so many times in so many places
No. In my opinion I'm right. And what would have happened is that the people in those areas would have had to take care of their own problems. We don't need to police the world. The world went on just fine before we started to build our empire. And if you don't believe that we have an American EMPIRE, then you're out of touch with the reality of the situation. I'm not going to accuse you of being wrong. I'm going to say that you need to re-evaluate your position.
2:10 "The bill is not negotiable" How is ANYTHING in a democracy "not negotiable?" Sounds like this guy doesn't care what the people have to say. Remove him from office.
If they defect than the people of Wisconsin should hold elections for new officials. This is a failure in the democratic process. You saw the same thing happen in Tunisia. When the people spoke out, their leader high-tailed it out of the country. That is the SAME thing that these Democrats did. Once the people wanted their voice to be heard, they left so as not to hear the argument. It is a disgrace and goes against everything that America was founded on. We have the right to protest

Gov. Walker is proving to be the same as Gadhafi, threatening military force against protesters. This is the true TeaParty government. Weaken the power of the citizen and call in the Guard. I have news for you Emperor Walker, the military is the people and will NEVER act against our own families. We swore an oath to protect the people and their rights, not your lavish lifestyle. @monkybit Khadafy is shooting people down in the streets as we speak using missiles and machine guns. Walker is merely threatening to use the national guard to protect state assets. You don't see a difference?
The threat to use a military force of any type is one and the same. The military should NEVER be deployed on US soil. Any such act would be an act of martial law. And would mean the end of freedom as we know it. THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE!!!!! DO NOT SUPPORT THE DEPLOYMENT OF US TROOPS ON AMERICAN SOIL!!!! (unless Canada invades us)
Thank you for serving and thank you for supporting the people. But the TeaParty isn't the enemy. The TeaParty movement has been hijacked and is being used in "false flag" political attacks. The spirit of the TeaParty movement has remained the same since that night in Boston. And it is that power of the people that the entrenched politicians are trying to harness. They are using our movements against us in an attempt to confuse the issues and turn brother against brother.
Its about time all unions are defending all unions. Teachers should buy union made auto's. Just like union auto workers should shop at union ran stores.
Thats the only way unions will survive. Stop looking for the cheapest way!!
Because it will come back to bite you in the ass like it is now!!
@bestwayusa1 Private sector unions are dead. Unionized workers are a very small percentage of the workforce. Consumers prefer lower priced goods made by slave laborers in India and China over goods produced by American workers who are paid a living wage. Likewise, American taxpayers are not going to pay increased taxes to fund public sector unionized workers' pensions or health care benefits. They can't afford it and politicians who support increased taxes will be voted out of office.
It isn't about the cuts. Teachers have agreed to them. It is about collective bargaining, period.
I wouldn't be with the unions if they were refusing cuts. They aren't though. This is a concerted attack on a mainstay of Democratic ideals and political power.
@Seldona Don't you see though. The connection between the Democratic Party and teachers unions is unholy. It is why we never see change in education and why we can't fire bad tenured teachers. Why the best teachers don't make more. Teachers should be focusing on teaching, not politics. If they don't get rid of collective bargaining, 5,500 state workers will lose their jobs.
NO! Teachers SHOULD be focusing on TEACHING the founding principals that this nation was built on. I don't even remember learning about the constitution, AND I have had to completely educate myself on the political process. (aside from a two week stint in Freshman history) Teachers should not teach to satisfy a government mandated aptitude test. Teachers should be helping to shape minds and prepare our next generations for the challenges that they will face.
The reason that you don't see change in the educational system is because the central government controls what you teach. It's not the fault of the unions that schools have to teach state-mandated curriculum to meet the grade for standardized tests.(or risk funding cuts) It's not the fault of the Unions that inner-city schools are under-funded and poorly staffed, it's not the fault of the Unions that the public school system in the US is a failure when compared on a global level. Is it?
But, teachers are WAY overpaid. They only work 36 weeks per year. I sure wish I could have a job with 16 weeks of vacation, PER YEAR. END THE UNIONS NOW.
Why? So I can be a leach on the system? US currently ranks 37th in education because years ago people went into it because they love to teach, now the WRONG kind of people go into it for the money and benefits, education suffers from these leaches.
@Seldona Most of America has been able to see the vicious circle that is:public emp unions “bargain” with municipalities, schls, etc. if they get a gd deal, the adm with whom they have bargained get re-elected' with the use of $ extracted dues from mmbrs' Sol? Don't give bk the pensions to Delphi emp eliminate all the union emp in GM Save money,& achieve the unions’ dream of “lvling the playing field. This walk out is nothing more than a bunch a bullies trying to get their way. FIRE THEM!!

Why? So I can be a leach on the system? US currently ranks 37th in education because years ago people went into it because they love to teach, now the WRONG kind of people go into it for the money and benefits, education suffers from these leaches.

@Seldona
I'm sorry, but you seem to misunderstand. Perhaps a union teacher taught you incorrectly. Do some personal study.
Please let me enlighten you. "I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands.."
You see - the US is a REPUBLIC - not a democracy. Always was, and always will be.
As long as GOVT employees are unionized - I as a voter have no say in whether they get a pay raise or not. Unions take away my voice.

FIRE THEM!!
