Ravens and crows are both part of the genus Corvus. Technically you could say that a raven is a very large crow. C'mon guys you all have Google. Stop trying to figure this out on your own.
I would capture that thing, name it Keeley, and train it to attack the stupid little children who toss their toys into my backyard. While I think of it, this might solve the cat problem I have as well...
Ravens are crows and crows are ravens. To say a raven is not a crow, has the substance of a soup, made from the shadow of a crow who starved to death.
Ugh, these people do not know anything about taxonomy. That is a crow, you were not incorrect in using that term. "Crow" refers to a whole family of birds. A raven is just a species within the family "Corvidae".
It's just a Raven. Healthy adult size. They are one of the world's most intelligent birds. Way smarter that the average You Tuber :) I had one as a pet when I was a kid. It could talk. Not a You Tuber, a Raven.
lol...yes thats the difference between a raven ( corvus corax ) and a common crow (corvus corone) on the first sight :: the size )...but the raven is a crow too, they belong all to the familiy of crows called corvids. And they belong, i don't know if much of you know to the singing birds :) so the raven is the biggest singing bird ;) there is
We have many ravens around here in the high desert, and some of them are bigger than my cat. I love them, they are puckish and smart, and know how to open the trash cans and get in the trash on trash day. Most people think they are pests, but I think they are awesome. I love the krucking sound they make.
Do you even know the physical difference between a raven and a crow, and NO crows cannot get that big. And don't call someone who actually does research a dumbass just because "you saw a big bird"
This is a "Common Raven". I've been at this folks, for about 15yrs now. So trust me, i know what i'm talking about here. And to the poster; ace5787, your partially right. Raven's Crow's & Jay's are in the "corvid" family of birds. However....Raven's are NOT Crow's, by any stretch. They live very different lives, despite the "visual size differences", Raven's being anywhere from 21-27in with a 4ft wingspan, and Crows's 17-21in with a near 3ft wingspan. So this video is definitely of a Raven......

honestly, i've seen in the Ottawa region of Canada, ravens that were about twice the size of that one, no joke. For some reason the ones here are huge. like 3 month old Labrador puppies and bigger :|
@Blinkazoid yep! ... I saw one near Quebec city one morning with my mom who was raised in the country without ever seeing one that big .... it was also in a shopping center parking lot. I'd say it was nearly 4 feet from tail to head... I couldn't believe my eyes!
Just looking through your older vids and saw this one. Good thing he didn't hear you call him a crow, he might have flown back and shat on your head. Then you would make that mistake... Nevermore ;-) hehehe
LOL, well with a name like ravensky I know you certainly would never mistake a raven for a crow!!! I'm sure he would have been pretty insulted to be called a mere crow:)
I'm in N.C. I guess ravens just aren't all that common here. WOW! That was HUGE haha. I saw three huge black birds, didn't think they were crows because they were HUGE, resting ontop of my neighbor's house. Kind of was eerie haha.

We have lots of crows here too which is why that's the first bird I thought of when I saw this one. Actually I kinda like the ornithologist joke:)

Ya, I've been corrected a few times on that one, LOL. Thankfully I *did* put question marks in the title. I like the title so I'm leaving it alone. Actually though I should put raven in the tags.

Not so bad...since Ravens ARE the biggest in the Crow family...so all is fine :-)

WOW! That was HUGE haha. I saw three huge black birds, didn't think they were crows because they were HUGE, resting ontop of my neighbor's house. Kind of was eerie haha.
