I can't even describe the feeling I have when I listen to this.....To see what mainstream R&B has become, it breaks my heart. What happened to music that truly hit the soul? Why am I hearing Pitbull on comtemporary R&B stations?
Whitney was to rock in this performance, this is when it was leaving... But she does have one of the best voices that has ever been recorded so I love her!
I luuuv when Brandy @ 1:05 puts her hand on her hip and rocks wit it...so stylish and grown up taking authority of the song and her position..Good job Brandy!!
OMG that was legend! I don't even remember that, all of them in fine form. I don't think anyone doing it now could get past their egos to make history like that. Of course we don't get soundtracks like Waiting to Exhale anymore either. This was a jaw-dropping performance! Thank you so much for posting this piece of history.
LOL! Whitney wanted to end it softly, because she was obviously sick. And Ellen just put her on blast at the end! lol. and told eveybody Whitney's plans. lol. very funny. Even sick, Whitney did an outstanding job, they all did. great post.
@WH012 was she sick or hiigh from drugs by now whitney was washed up vocally that is i hate to say it but she was really loosing her touch sad how celebs allow drugs to ruin thier lives and thier amazing talent
@ilikesexyness1000 Yeah Whitney was sick here, if she wasnt sick she would have done a so much better job. Being "high from drugs" isnt the case. Being high wouldnt effect her voice like that, she was sick.
@WH012 i'm sorry but i find that very hard to beleive. we all have our own opinion and since neither one of us was with her that night, i'm left to assume that since we know by this time she was heavy on drugs and most of her performances around this time and after just got worst and worst i'm left to assume she was high, i don't buy the sick thing sorry
@ilikesexyness1000 No i'm not trying to make excuses for Whitney, im just telling you that doing drugs wont effect your voice like that in one night. Drugs take on a long term effect. I know of a performance where Whitney was high in this same year and she did a GREAT job. It has nothing to do with being high, she was just sick. She is a normal person you know, she can get sick too.
@WH012 well i don't beleive it we don't know how long she had been on drugs and like i said i have seen performances around this same period of time where she sounded just and bad and it just got worst as time got on so i guess she has had a cold for 14 years she should go to the doctor lol
@ilikesexyness1000 No you're not a big Whitney fan, so you wouldnt know. Like I said, not every performance from this year and after was bad. Trust me there are plenty of peformances from after this perfoemance that are great. Yes drugs have effected her voice, but we are seeing the major effect now. Watch her on the Rosie show singing "There is Music in you" 1997, that's from this same year. and she looks very high in the interview on that day. So yes she has been High and singing very good.
Her voice was beautiful

Whitney Houston was the best singer of all time... Hands down... NOBODY can top her...

@SecondToNone88 I think Celine Dion can.
elrynx2 7 months ago
@elrynx2 Until Celine Dion gets a humungous dose of the musicianship she's so missing, she's not topping any of the greats, let alone Whitney.
Chimier 6 months ago
@Chimier Well, i would concede Whitney has more musicianship most of the time.

@elrynx2 She most more musicianship ALL the time.
