  • how dare some of those ppl just stand there and watch it like it was a crown victoria that was rusted i would scream and chase the car

  • @robloxfan3211 Well, take some heart buddy in knowing that when the car first debuted in this corner of Oklahoma....that's exactly how it was. LoL People chasing the car, freaking out, even some running into other cars while trying to take a pic of it. :-) By now, it's like....."Oh...it's the Ghostbusters again." LoL

    Peace man.

    Mike

  • i always see your cars in claremore.....

  • @Jeremysangel1992 Thanks for chiming in. :-) Hopefully it was a good experience. I have a ton of fun in the cars.....the only problem I have is dealing with some of the drivers on the road out here. I'm amazed I can keep these things in one piece, considering the close calls I've had. :-) People on the roads out here just DONT pay attention to their driving. :-)

    Peace man.

    Mike

  • Damn that car is huge. Great job

  • @Miles3363 Thanks. :-)

  • looks like g0od ride to hunt zombies with :o LoL

  • Hey!! How did I miss this??!?!

  • @BASol We've done it two years in Chelsea. But that time my Kitt car didn't come. :-)

  • @KN1IGHT i'm jelous xD how much time and money have you spent to buy it and customize it, to look like ECTO-1?

  • FAKE ecto1

  • @staffstudios Guess some people don't know what "replica" means. And BTW, where's yours then?

  • HOW MUCH!

  • @MrJammer666 She's not for sale. :-)

  • i like how it takes up almost 4 parking spaces

  • @leeknivek No kidding. She's roughly 21 feet or so long, and 6400 lbs. Needless to say.....she's a beast of a car. :-)

  • Siren + Ghostbuster theme = Goosebump central.

  • Well, I have to say that my neckhair stood up when I saw this...greets from germany...really really nice work :)

  • @Evileye87 Thanks. It was really fun putting her together. Still have much work to do on her.....but she's still kickin. :-) Peace man.

    Mike

  • omg at this rate we're never catching those ghosts!

  • omg, this makes me emotional *cries* lol!!! completely awesome, i need one x

  • How are these people so calm?! I would have a complete geek-out meltdown if even a believable *replica* of the ECTO 1 went driving down the street. What a lucky guy- thanks for sharing!

  • @fortoria LoL. Thanks for the nice words.

    Mike

  • @KN1IGHT good to see that even kids know ecto-1

  • Any DeLorean Time Machines?

  • @IndianaJonesfans09 Yup. :-) Browse my vids and you'll see it. :-)

  • laughing at all the slack jawed idiots.. lol but it is oklahoma

  • @Aznar245 Not exactly sure how to take that comment........ but OK.

    :-)

  • something is strange in that neighborhood, but they know who to call

  • @kyawmawthu LoL

  • Woah so cool!!!!!!

  • at 2:40 is that white car at front a 1969 Pontiac GTO or a 1968 Plymouth road runner and if it isn't any of them can you tell me what it is :-)

  • at 2:40 is that white car at front a 1969 pontiac gto or a 1968 plymouth road runner or neither

  • at 2:40 is that white car at front a 1969 pontiac GTO or a 1968 plymouth road runner or neither

  • My envy-meter just went off the scale !

    Nice job.

  • @Xigano1 Thanks. :-)

  • I wanna see the Ecto-1 roll with the Bluesmobile - two iconic cars from two iconic Dan Aykroyd films

  • how much do you want for ecto 1? XD

  • @robinblitz Sorry bud, she's not for sale. The Ghostbusters need her. :-)

  • @KN1IGHT I just hope that they don't fuck around with the gear and car too much for GB3. I think that'd kill all our childhood memories of the Ghostbusters.

  • @SuperMike82 I agree with you there. :-)

  • @KN1IGHT can you tell me what you used cuz i have a white staion wagion and i cant fid any of the stuff

  • @arrowoflight360 With the exception of the police light bars (which are real) the rest of the roof, like the yellow tanks, the rack, the sniffer, the ghost bait, all of those are home made by me. It was several several trips to Lowe's and Ace Hardware. LoL.....if you browse around my site....you'll see a few vids of the early days of this car, and how much of that was made. :-)

    Peace man.

    Mike

  • only in america

  • my favorite car of all time

  • What car is that at 1:26?

  • the sad part is, half of those ingrate kids have no idea what that car originates from..

  • @Scipiz0a LOL!! To True. :-)

  • @Scipiz0a what about the "Who you gunna call?!" kid

  • i can barely hear it

  • @Aqwert76 Turn up your speakers. :-)

  • @KooturKoot A small oil leak will cause that. Usually only happens in extreme heat but she holds her oil pressure just fine.

  • "Do you have any closing thoughts?"

"Yeah, I got a closing thought... I gotta find a place to park this car before it over-heats and EXPLODES!" BOOM!

  • holy shit thats cool

  • GHOSTBUSTER ON JULY 16 2010 CHANNEL 54, COMEDY CENTRAL3:00 PM!

  • @naxxramas1onclubpeng Thank you :D

  • @XxStillTheDollxX did ya happen to catch the movie? i love the one room service lady when she said "What the hell are you doin?"

  • @naxxramas1onclubpeng I've seen it once or twice. :-)

  • Not bad but Ecto was a 59 M-M not a 60 Superior...........

  • @Dasvigo I know this. That fact was pointed out in many of the "making of" Ecto videos on my channel. But a decent 59 MM is hard to come by. Either to far gone, and covered in rust, or fully restored for several several thousand dollars. I'm happy with the 60.

    Mike

  • @KN1IGHT yea originally there was only 500 59 m&m made and that was then im sure there a max of like maybe 75 - 100 now. Another cool fact is the 59s had the biggest fin.

  • @KN1IGHT How can I find those making-of videos on your page? I didn't see them on the list

  • @SuperMike82 They are in there and some of the titles are "A Trip to the Shop" or "A return trip to the Shop" "Building another Knight Rider car" and many of the "function and tutorial" style vids that show an explanation and demonstration of some of Kitt's features. :-)

  • Really want to get the Ecto-1 and your other creations out to our event next year.

  • Is there any way you could tell me who had the ectomobile at that car show and how to get in touch with them? I'm putting together a ghostbusters event out here in west Texas and I'm on the hunt for an ectomobile....thanks...email.....cruiser1977@gmail.com

  • @exorcismblues That was me that brought the Ecto 1. I built her that year in my driveway. She's undergoing some work this year and getting prepped for a few upcoming shows here in Oklahoma. :-)

    Peace man.

    Mike

  • beyond epic.

  • so awesome

  • @noncon99 Thanks. :-)

  • ecto needs white walls...

  • wow u got the actual siren from the movie i would so love to drive that when i get back to states and sometime down the road i got some extra money and time on my hand im goin to get me one and build one

  • Love the siren

  • Thanks. :-)

  • Does anyone who watches this vid care anything about the Jurassic Park Jeep? :)

    I don't, it's Ecto-1 which caught my heart forever.

One day, when I have like 40,000 Bucks left to throw away, I'll build one too...

  • Without the Jeep you see in this video....there would have never been the Ecto 1. Not too mention the Jeep can run circles around Ecto. :-) Ecto is a crowd pleaser, and a favorite of mine....but vehicle wise..... the Jeep is better in so many ways.

  • @Allroundmoviemaker

I care about the Jurassic park jeep... but ecto 1 is better look at.

  • General lee then Ecto1, I want these cars, man youve done an awesome job!

  • General Lee then this, god I luv the Ghost Busters car and even if you do state it ain't the original car used damn that's an awesome match!

  • The siren on the original is acually a lower pitch but great work

  • The siren on mine is actually an MP3 loop taken from sound files from the original Ghostbusters movie. It's played through a P.A. speaker hidden in the forward light bar, and controlled by the CD player in the car.

  • I know you didn't have mpg in mind when you built her but....how hard is she on gas?And I would hope for your sake, that she's got p/s.A most awsome job.Not your average tv/movie car replica.

  • She's not horrible on gas...but not great either. And yes she has PS. Thanks for the nice words. I'm working on new videos of her that were suppose to be uploaded already.......

    stay tuned.

    Peace man.

    Mike

  • im going to build one day ecto-1 and kitt from knight rider are two of my favorit tv movie cars.

  • you better take back what was said at the end of this when someone said that they "better get this back, before it overheats and explodes" because I'm still not quite over the fact that Admiral Kirk blew up the Enterprise in Star Trek III

  • She had a bad heater hose that was slowly misting out antifreeze/coolant. A fact I found out after the parade. Ecto isn't going to blow up on my watch....not while I'm in command. :-)

    Peace man.

    Mike

  • oops sorry my bad

  • NICE! I had the chance to buy a 59 Metro a few years ago, but I couldn't get the finances worked out. I seen another Metro Meteor 2 years later in 2007 off the side of the highway at this auto glass replacement shop, but it wasn't for sale. It was only there to attract customers, but it looked nice. It was primered down, so it looked as if it wouldn't took much to get her runnin. I'm currently in the works of a cargo van being made into a Scooby Doo Mystery Machine. By the way, how'd ya get it?

  • Thanks for the nice words. Ecto has a long story behind her. Most of which is told in the videos on this site. :-)

Keep an eye out for another one on the way.

    Peace man.

    Mike

  • i swear half of the lights and gadgets are missing of the top :S

  • Read the comments...then research "this" particular Ecto 1 conversion....and you'll answer you own question. :-)

  • I didn't the ghostbusters had GPS back then.

  • Ghost

    Protection

    System? lol

The stuff on the top is susposed to be "ghost detecting" equipment.

  • haha the siren reminds me so much of venkman screaming just before he got slimed

  • does it have the nuclear plasma reactors, that they use in the back of the car

  • Uhh... sure it does. :-)

  • awesome replica cadillac used to make fine cars , well they still do but there not good looking as this

  • Actually scratch my earlier post, upon seeing ghostbusters 2 for the umpteenth time ecto seems to have had 3 siren sounds. At the start of ghostbusters 2 when its shooting along the siren sounds different again, more like a horn and not the electronic kind of sound from the original movie.

  • In reality, the horn has a Doppler effect when the car drives by. The pitch, tone, and sound varies because of this.

  • Possibly but everything ive read on the subject of ecto's siren suggests it was just an effect added in post production. Supposodly the only time it had an actual working siren was when ray bring it to the firehouse telling venkman all the work it needed done. Everything after that was meant to be a post production effect with several sirens mixed to make the one you hear in the movie.

  • Mike, what year is your MM? Its a little different than the 59 used in the movie

  • It's because it's not a 59. :-) It's a 1960 Cadillac Superior. It is an ambulance, but the model and year are off by a year.

    Peace man.

  • I thought so. Great job though, the difference are very subtle. Mostly at the rear of the car, you could remove the chrome near the rear wheels to match the 59 a little more. Noticed you also have part of the reargate painted red at the sides, you should paint them white and only have the wings be red. You need some white walls on that bad boy too. Haha im a little picky like you I guess, but great job overall Mike. I'm keeping my eyes open for a 59 myself actually.

  • Ecto seemed to have 2 siren effects in the first movie, this one then in the montage sequence the siren sounded really sped up. Only ever happened that one time though, wonder if it was a mistake by the editors or the siren reacted to the cars speed in some way.

  • what was the cost of the whole thing to put the ecto-1 together and get it driveable?

  • It's taken right off the movie and looped. But there is no doppler effect so it's hard to compare the two. Since Ecto isn't flying by at crazy speeds....it just sounds like a never ending loop.

    :-)

  • The siren seems kinda... fast.

I wish I could get my hands on one...

  • Bring Ecto to Scotland!

  • For the money it would cost to transport him there, I could probably build another one. :-)

  • Can you bring the ecto-1 to the woodward dream cruise in detroit?

  • As much as I'd love to, Ecto has previous commitments almost all throughout the summer. Best I can do for you is provide a showing if you're all ready in the Oklahoma area.

    Peace man.

    Mike

  • NICE

  • if i win the lottery

    1. ecto1

    2. delorean time machine

    3. Jurassic Jeep

    4. Kitt Knight Rider

  • Good selection. :-)

  • hell yeah man you pickthe same ones i did if i win i wonder how much he want to let it go for , i trade my 2001 galant for it

  • You're so lucky to be driving that thing... that car is part of my memories of childhood.

  • Mine too. :-)

  • its the wrong year ecto 1 and ecto 1a were both 1959's thats clearly a 1960's. but still very nice

  • Everybody still asks me if it's the one from the movie. You'd be surprised how many people don't know a 59 from a 60. But I knew that going in. Just read in the descriptions of my videos with Ecto.

It reads....1960, not 1959. Peace man.

    Mike

  • have you ever thought of changing the grill and bumper to back date it to a 59?

  • Thought about it. But after the comments, offers, and shows I've done with Ecto.....what's the point? I new going into it that it wasn't a 59.

I've gotten use to the look so much....not sure if I'll ever go '59 on it.

    Mike

  • Have you ever been offered an amount for the Ecto-1? Just curious, there's some hardcore fans out there.

  • Most people are too much in awe of seeing the car, they keep asking if it's the real one from the movie. :-)

But not yet.....no one has expressed an interest in buying it.

    Peace man.

    Mike

  • how mad would that be to drive around in that a night lol u could turn ur lights and siren on lol

  • 4:36 hey i think my mum a ghost lol

  • i remember about ten years ago i was taken to a some parade and ecto-1 was passing by. i don't know where i was but 2:42 looks almost exactly like i remembered it. same angle, environment, and everything. but i know i couldn't have been in oklahoma... it's implausible.

  • That video is from last year. And yours truly is the one driving the Ecto 1 in that shot. So if I brought up a good memory of a similar situation, that rocks man. :-)

Hopefully we'll do some more parades soon.

    Peace man.

    Mike

  • The only sad thing- the awesomeness of G-busters is lost on alot of those kids,, and what a loss, their generation doesnt have anything to compare to it. Thats why I make sure my kids get exposed to all the 60s, 70s, and 80s I grew up with.

  • The only thing better than owning an ECTO 1 is the look on ppls mugs as you drive by LMAO!

  • It does get pretty wild at times. One day while parked at a gas station....we had so many lookey loos that a fender bender happened right in front of us. One guy was taking a pic with his camera phone....and another was trying to do the same........they both hit each other in their cars. :-)

    Peace man.

    Mike

  • In the begging, that guy has a jurassic park jeep, that's cool.

  • Yup. That's my buddy Logan driving my 94 Jeep Wrangler that I Jurassic'd out.

    Mike

  • sooo awesome =)

  • just looked at your vids on the 3 motors nice work mate but wasted as you left one of my fav cars out the picture i think you need a delorean really well thats what i would add to the collection but fantasic collection even with out keep it up

  • Thanks man. The Delorean wasn't available yet. But if you keep looking through the vids.....you'll see one of us bringing a Delorean conversion back to Oklahoma. :-)

    Peace man.

    Mike

  • so you or one off your mates are making a bttf delorean then, also which vid are you refering to vid tittle please thanks for the response

  • We took a drive to Dayton Ohio, and picked up a partially completed BTTF Delorean. It has some conversion parts on it, inside and out. We've since gone through it, changed a few parts, did some re wiring, and are still working on it. If you want to see it as it was when we picked it up last summer, look through my videos for one referring to the Back to the Future Delorean. It's in there.

    Peace man.

    Talk to you soon.

    Mike

  • I bet driving a car that's 21ft long is interesting. Probably fun to park. Small price to pay for owning one of the best cars ever!

  • watch?v=AV45vMZKqFc

  • Say what??

  • Rules of the road.

  • Mike, speaking of overactive imagination. I am amazed by you. On your great mechanical & constructive skills, you have shown alot of people how you can use great amount of material to convert creativity into reality,.....with great amount of style. :)

  • Thanks man. I just have an overactive imagination, and a fetish for movie and TV cars. And when I can't afford to buy them, I try to find a way to build them. Peace man.

    Mike

  • Mike, can you still buy the pontiac trans am to this day? If so, where? By the way, do you live in the states?

  • You can definitely purchase Trans Ams still. The price varies based on model, year, and condition. But they are out there. And yes I live in the states. I'm from California, but currently live in Oklahoma.

    Peace man.

    Mike

  • I love it when the little kids go "Who you gonna call" lol

  • Again, this really is the most incredable car ever. Amazing, Amazing, AMAZING

  • You are a genius KN1IGHT!

  • Nahh, just a guy with an overactive imagination.

And too much time on his hands. :-)

    Peace man.

    Thanks

    Mike

  • Yes please do tell us how you reproduced the siren so well, I would Like to do that for a project In have in mind :)

  • The siren is actually from an MP3 file that I have. The siren gets looped on it's CD in Ecto's cd player, and sharing the front channel of the radio is a PA Speaker that's hidden in the front light bar. So.....pop in the siren CD, fade the speakers to the front, and crank up the volume.........and wala.....instant loud Ecto 1 siren. :-)

Sometimes it's the simple things in life. :-)

    Mike

  • That must have been such a cool thing to do with everyone staring and waving at your superb ECTO. I so want one!

    StarskyKnight.

  • The neat thing about that car is that it's almost impossible to miss. The reactions from people when Ecto is just out cruising around are priceless.. I've used Ecto before for running errands or just messin around. I get some pretty funky looks and people taking pics left and right. It's definitely not the vehicle to take out if you're trying to stay hidden. :-)

  • Yea, I can only imagine how much fun it must be just driving ECTO1 around.....

  • So how did you reproduce the siren

  • Yes. In a few other videos here with Ecto, I turn on the siren.

    Mike

  • wow man you are the coolest person i know I mean you own a ecto 1 and i thought was a big ghostbusters fan gettin the logo tattooed on me i really wanna do the same as what you have done but i think the laws are diffrent over hear in the UK but still cool vid mate

  • Thanks man for the words.

    Mike

  • Back then that car was made for hauling people and getting there. Also a work of art as well. Both Ecto-1 and the 59/60 Cadillac are beautiful.

  • Ecto-1 there, what kinda nuts does it have?

got some considerable of Torque i'd assume

  • Well, she aint gonna win any 1/4 mile races...I mean, the poor car is 6200 pounds. But she's got a Cadillac 390 engine, and runs very good for a car that old and that big. Damn near need pitch and roll gauges. :-)

    Mike

  • Lets run some red lights!

  • that looks like a 1960 cadillac, is it a 60 or a 59?

  • It is a 1960 Superior High Top. Doesn't quite fall into the "1959" Miller Meteor class that the real Ecto 1 was.....but....I'm not complaining. :)

    Mike

  • wow your guys ecto 1 was so much cooler then the other cars in the parade, you really overshadowed it..I mean who cares about that green truck in front of you? you guys got the fricken ecto 1!!! No way you can beat that! no way!

  • Thanks man. I have Ecto back at home for a while fixing his starter. Then it's probably off to storage for the Winter. :) Thanks for the nice words.

    Peace man.

    Mike

  • where did you get the siren? i want one to add to my tow truck but i want that sound

  • did u build the car?

  • Yes I did. The progress pics are on my Myspace page with my Knight Rider Kitt car and my Jurassic Park Jeep.

    Mike

  • You guys should get a medal for making an ECTO-1 and keeping a claasic Caddie alive.

  • Thanks man. :-)

  • ecto is short for ectoplasam. It's the slimy stuff ghosts in the movie are made of.

  • I would of had some mates dressed up as ghostbusters and let them follow behind the car

  • Already did that. :) And doing it again the week of Halloween.

    Peace man.

    Mike

  • So what is ECTO 1

  • WHAT IS ECTO 1??!!! And your name is oldschool??!!! Uhhh... the car that was used in the movie "GHOSTBUSTERS." Can't get more oldschool than that. :-)

    Mike

  • I now what ECTO 1 is im a huge fan of the GHOSTBUSTERS got all the film and ill will also be getting the GHOSTBUSTERS THE GAME

    what model is ECTO 1

  • I now what ECTO 1 is i meant what is the model of the car

  • Orginally a 1959 Cadilliac Ambulance

  • Close......the vehicle Columbia Pictures used was a 1959 Miller Meteor Cadilac Ambulance for both movies. :)

  • Dude, when you stopped at 2:10, you should've yelled "COME ON, LETS RUN SOME RED LIGHTS!" :P

  • I love your videos mike, the Ecto-1 horn sounds cool, the cops must love u in that town,ie with that and your kitt replica , one of my favorite ones by the way!!
