  • I'm pretty sure when Freddie knocked at heaven's door God welcomed him with open arms.

  • This is the best rendition of this song I have ever heard! I am blown the FUCK away! R.I.P. freddy you were with the best!! i love you , my dad loved you, you are a huge piece of my history, thank you for being you!

  • @dezingendebroeder

I don't know, Freddy probably would have bitchslapped a Dutch street singer.......But he sure didn't look like one.

  • my mama was a big fan of freddie. she was a country girl from georgia. his fan base doesn't get more diverse than that! i remember how happy she was when my daddy bought her one of his records. i love him as well. i love to watch his eyebrows when he sings, they are so animated, so it is so hard to watch him getting older like in this awsome video. thank you for posting. miss freddie and his happy eyebrows!

  • I feel so fortunate. When I was 21 i worked at a hotel in Denver as a van driver. If you don't know about Denver, Freddy was and is huge here! The Texas tornados were here playing at La Fantasia's. They were staying at our hotel and I was supposed to drive them to their sound check but i was late back from another run. I was pissed. So I was supposed o pick them up after he show but I was late because of oter guests. I got to drive the band back and share some great stories with them.

  • @revalfresh But Freddy got a ride back to the hotel with fans!! I was pissed but good for them! So I told my boss that I would work for free if I could take freddy to the airport in the morning. He agreed and I got to spend an hour with Freddy and his manager Jay Bell shooting the breeze. I heard stories that I've never heard any where else and I feel so privileged!!!!

  • @revalfresh

Hey, that's a real cool story! Thanks for sharing it.

  • Freddy was my uncle. Thanks for the vid! RIP Freddy. \m/

  • REST IN PEACE COUSIN OF MINE THROUGH MARRIGE. IF THERE ARE ANY LUNA'S OR RUELAS OUT THERE PLEASE CONTACT ME. I WOULD LOVE TO SHARE A SPECIAL STORY ABOUT THE TIME I MET MY BIG COUSIN AT THE HIDALGO COUNTY FAIR!!!!

  • @ROBOREVENGER He was my great uncle. He was the brother of my late grandfather Ovideo Delgado. We might know each other.

  • @MADBALL9991 COOL DUDE AND GOD BLESS!!! HE SIGNED A LITTLE TEDDY BEAR THAT MY BIG BROTHER WON FOR ME CUS I WAS ONLY 3 YEARS OLD!!!!

  • @ROBOREVENGER that's awesome! Reminds me of my 6th birthday when we spent it at his mansion in Corpus Christi. His gift to me was one of those monkeys that when you press it's head, it played the cymbals and opened it's mouth. That thing terrified the **** out of me lol!!!

  • dylan blows, freddy forever!!!!!

  • Never heard of this man before I clicked the video. Makes me wonder how many musicians that can bring a tear to my eye I'll never hear before I'm knockin' on heaven's door myself.

  • Freddy need need not knock.. heaven's doors were open for him. RIP Freddy!

  • I got a chuckle at the guy who posted a while back thinks it's odd to see an "old" man singing this song, seeing as how it was first released in 1973 (Bob Dylan) when Freddie Fender was in his mid 30s.....

The song itself is 37 years old :) This is an excellent cover. Everyone tries to do this song justice, not many can. Freddie did. RIP Freddie!

  • I am sure Freddy made it through Heaven's door. He was a great guy, and a great singer. I remember growing up listening to Freddy's Music playing away on my Dad's 8 track in his truck. Boy do I feel old right about now.

  • I actually feel young when I hear Freddie. Im 36 but I can remember making my mom buy me his album. I remeber cherishing it until it dissappeared. I found out years later that my big brother was tired of haring it so he got rid of it. Can you imgine the kind of jerk it takes to throw out a boys favorite album. I was probably 10 or so...... Love You Miss You FREDDIE!!! Bless you Big Poppa. He always felt like an uncle or a family member.

    Bear Warrior

  • He's wiping tears from his eyes in this video...and I am also when I watch it. No one could do justice to Freddy as far as portraying him in a movie. He's like Patsy Cline, there will never be another.

Love you Freddy ... always and forever.

    A real legend.

  • freddy was great all the way to the end...

  • Freddy could sing and play other peoples music better than a lot of singers. He sang it with heart and style with respect and soul. Seeing this for the first time since he died ,brought tears to my eyes...r.i.p. freddy.

  • freddy fender plays a fender cool

  • Thanks for posting this.

    RIP Freddy

  • :*(

  • If someone could play Freddy Fender in a movie. Who would you like to see do it?

  • Wow, there was only one Freddy ... voice though could be covered by ... maybe ... Mark Anthony?

He sure would have to gain some weight, but who else.

    Freddy was so unique.

  • mark anthony? lol hell no that fool is way to skinny, mark needs to gain weight! Freddy is the best country singer.

  • Unfortunately Freddy has passed ... a movie of his life would certainly help keep the dream alive ...

Freddy is a true American Legend, and should be treated as such ... he earned every speck, of respect due.

Who could play his character best? ... and has the chop action? or the mojo to sinc?

  • Will alway be one of the great

  • Nice - would have liked Freddie to have given the Telecaster a bit more of a work out.

  • Thanks for posting this wonderful clip. Real good.

You might also like - Glen Campbell's recent live performance of Wichita Lineman which he nails! Also, Neil finn and johnny marr doing "there is a light" ... live.--different genre but similarly from the inside out. Before the next teardrop falls.
