  • I have a 1969 RS/SS 396/375 Camaro and I wish it sounded exactly like this. My car sounds

"bad ass", but yours is awesome. What kind of numbers are on that "bump stick" in the engine?? (cam-shaft) Also, is this Camaro running with "chambered exhaust"??? Thanks for the awesome video of a "Super Camaro".........

  • @Mr1nvent If you haven't restored a car before, I would recommend dropping by a book store and reading some literature on restorations. Camaros are excellent platforms to learn the techniques because there are plenty of replacement parts if needed.

  • I have a 69 SS/RS , that my father gave my as a gift, but is very rusty , can you guys gave my a tip , were I should I start the restoration?

  • I would f_ck a hot chick in this car

  • That's the coolest sounding COPO I've ever heard. Thank you for sharing!!

  • The baddest Camaro ever (with the exception of Yenko).

  • @zrated186 nope. Still more badass than a Yenko. Haha. If they put side pipes on the Copo it'd be better than any car.

  • Very sexy car!!!!

  • on this camaro restoration, did yall use the gmmg chambered muffler recreations, or did yall luck up and find originals?

  • Does this car have the "crimped" exhaust system - the ones without proper mufflers - just resonators on the end of crimped pipes?

  • Chevy made some incredible muscle cars back in the day. This is a beautiful restoration! I'd love to see this out on the track.

I've got one of these COPOs for sale, too, with a video in my channel.

  • Damn that thing is fast!

  • incredible if i had money this is what i'd buy

  • Elite. Love the NO badges look! Such a sleeper...or at least until the key turns.

Then bet at your own risk.

Betting against this Camaro may result in the loss of significant funds if you bet against this BEAST. Well done!!

    Cheers.

  • a real car

  • Well yes they see a lot of the bad side of humans but they should hold themselves at a higher standard than to think I can bust you but dont rap on my door if I do the same thing. I have a lot of freinds that are police officers and for the most all of them a straight up good people but there are those who hide behind the badge and that is sad they have to be that way! makes the others look bad.

  • The 69 Copo Camaro, Only chevy I would ever buy if I was rich. This is the absolute best production Chevrolet. Still the Mustang boss 429, 67 Shelby gt500, or A.C Cobra 427 side oiler is WAYYYYYY better. But this Copo camaro is better than my 67 mustang 347 stroker with 582whp, I will admit!

  • Car sure looks nice & correct (especially for a clone), but I'd bet that's quite a bit louder than the stock exhaust should be.

  • what mufflers you running sounds old school

  • as far as it being a orginal copo i doubt but it very well could be id have to see it in person a 69 copo was a very bare car in most cases a copo didnt even have carpet in it it just had like a rubber matting. the copo was a born race car thats what they were ment to do is race. they had a 4.10 rearend with a close positraction. and came with a 427 L-72 and a M21 or automatic trans there was only about 210 made and the last known one to be sold was in 2009 on barret jackson for 270,000 USD

  • @ksr5610 - The 199 Yenko Camaro's sold in 1969 were all COPO cars and they are bought and sold with regularity today. Then there were hundreds of other 1969 COPO cars that were sold by Chevrolet dealerships such as Dana, Motion, Nickey, etc. All these cars had carpet.

  • @Echeque5 they had carpet because don yenko put it in them a 69 copo had a rubber matting not a 69 yenko which were copos to start with but don yenko changed alot of things on them, just a base 69 copo had rubber matting

  • @ksr5610 - There wouldn't be any logical reason for a Chevy dealership to have to go to the time, trouble and expense to install carpet when it could just be done at the factory. I have owned and researched 1969 Yenko Camaro's for over 25 years and there would be no logical reason for that to be done, as it would only increase the cost of the car.

  • @Echeque5 im not talking about a yenko i dont really like em i like the copo its very bare they didnt even have radios a copo is a born race car that COPO camaro's soul purpose was to be a race car in the Trans am american race.

  • @ksr5610 - 1969 Yenko Camaro's were all COPO cars. The aluminum engined ZL-1 427 COPO cars didn't race in the Trans Am series, as they were intended for drag racing, not road racing. The Z-28 Camaro with its 302 engine was used in Trans Am road racing.

  • @Echeque5 yea thats right i got those mixed up..anyways i do love copos they are my favorite car of all time, but sadly nowa days all you see in camaros and chevelles are those 502 and 572 big block chevys and they have futuristic interior and its just dumb

  • the 69 in plain form was just a sexy bitch. you just dont see these cars. really sad. dam clones.he he

  • This car is good and very good CAM

  • What a sick, sick car.

  • this video never i repeat never gets old

  • Are those gardners I'm hearing ?

  • COPO Camaro's are the coolest machines on earth in my opinion. Damn I need a 427 before I'm dirt!

    Greetings from Sweden!

  • Damn that is badass.

Um... could I come test drive it, LOL

  • i saw one of these at a car show in Ottawa Canada at the time i had know idea there was only 50 of them made and now i wish i could see it again!!!!!!

  • 69 were made in 1969

  • REALY.....

  • @greatwhitenorth112 no 69 copos were made in 1969

  • @ktmboy105 69 of them were so stop thinkin u know it all cuz u dont obviously

  • @ktmboy105 That isnt true. People always seem to forget the ones that where made to ship to canada. the 69 you are counting where for the US

  • @shadowhunter45s is it a true copo? meaning it came from the factory as a 69 copo 427 big block copo camaro?

  • @mountainmaxbrapper yes it was a true COPO there where some sent to dubia the number 69 does not count the exported ones only the ones in the us

  • @mountainmaxbrapper - No it's not. The description of the video states this car is a 1969 Camaro SS, not a COPO car.

  • @ktmboy105 - Approximately 500 1969 COPO Camaro's were manufactured in 1969, including 199 Yenko Camaro's, 69 ZL1 Camaro's and other's that went to dealerships such as Nickey, Dana, Baldwin, etc.

  • @Echeque5 - There were 1015 coded engine blocks were built and an estimated 900 - 1000 Camaros built with cast iron 427 engines, about 325 Chevelles including a few in the early 1970 Model year. Yenko purchased 201 COPOs and sold 198 of them during the 1969 -1970 selling year, and eventually sold the other three. There were actually 71 ZL1s, two were detuned (11-1, hydraulic cams) and had special graphics, aimed @ the general public, but @ $7200 per car, the program was cancelled.

  • @jrufolo - Engine blocks, yes, but not installed in cars. Many racers bought the engines for their race cars. The original Yenko Chevrolet registration books show 199 Yenko Camaro's sold in 1969.

  • @Echeque5 There were an additional approx. 500 427 blocks cast @ Flint in addition to what was accounted for for vehicle and warranty use, for counter sales. The 900 - 1000 is the number CRG gives and they do their homework. Again, CRG as well as many others give the figure of 201cars delivered and CRG gives 198 sold in 1969, the other 3 were eventually sold but not in 1969 Model Year.

  • @jrufolo - Again, the original Don Yenko Chevrolet registration books show only 199 1969 Yenko Camaro's sold, at any time.

  • Chevy records show 201 delivered to Yenko. There is also a well published picture of Don Yenko @ his dealership with a huge banner announcing "350th" SYC Camaro sold, even if you add up ALL of the 427 Camaros from 1967 & 1968 that Yenko sold (and the 1968 Camaros were also COPO cars, Yenko was a year ahead of everyone) there were only about 323 427 Camaros sold by Yenko. The missing three cars could have been invoiced to other dealership(s) not in his network, and wouldn't count for his sales.

  • @jrufolo - Chevrolet records appear to be incorrect, as the official Don Yenko registration books show 199 sold. That's it. The picture is clearly wrong, or taken out of context.Maybe it was the 350th Camaro sold? Who knows, but 350 is clearly not correct.

  • @Echeque5 Chevy delivered 201 COPO 427 Camaros to Yenko in 1969 Model Year. What Don Yenko did with the missing two or three I have no idea, but Chevrolet delivered them.

  • @greatwhitenorth112 - This is a 1969 Camaro SS, not a COPO.

  • i had a 77 malibu classic,i put dual exaust on it,drop it down on low1 n tromp on it,sounded like your car,but it just stock 305 i did put a 4 brrl carb on it.

  • still think your crazy rippin down the road, lol

  • "show of power"

  • if the owner wants 18,000 its not a real copo i bet also if it doesn't have the original motor don't buy it get a cheaper camaro and make a copo clone it would be cheaper and just as nice

  • My friend is looking into purchasing a 1969 COPO 'maro, but it doesn't have the original 427 in it. He's buying it to restore, anyways, though. It's all to hell and the seller wants $18,000 for it. Is it worth that?

  • @ iceguy, a COPO car w/o the original motor is just another camaro. The motor is what made them rare.

  • @iceguy2003 like said before a COPO without the original 427 is a regular camaro the copo's were only made without any other packages rummor has it that a couple sneaked out with RS packages

  • Thanks for the info. I know nothing about COPO Camaros. That's why I came looking for vids of them when he said he found one.

So the only thing that makes a COPO a COPO is the engine? Thanks for the tidbit.

  • @iceguy2003 - There are web sites about the 1969 COPO Camaro's that have members who are experts on the subject. Please beware of fraud. Many people think if they just slap on, "Z-28", badges, or, "Yenko", badges they now have a Z-28 or Yenko. Wrong. That's fraud and violates federal law. Huge trouble.

  • @iceguy2003 - If it's a real COPO Camaro, why no original engine? COPO Camaro's go for huge money and fraud is common. Be very, very, very careful or your friend will get taken and whomever sold him a fraudulent car will go to prison.

  • @iceguy2003 if the owner of the car has original paperwork indicating that it was a COPO car, like the Window Sticker, Protect o Plate, etc, then the car does have more value, and is restorable back to original state with date correct parts, if there is no paperwork showing the car was an original COPO, and the original drivetrain is missing, then there is no collector value.

  • That thing sounds unbelievable! Thank you for having good audio.

  • love my car

    the best car

  • one day ill own one of those

  • sick

  • awesome car ..... I'm looking for one in early 2010 to buy.

  • Don't wait to buy, alot of the nice car's are being gobbeled up.........good luck finding a "orginal".

  • @XboobtubeX - Make sure you do your homework and don't get taken by someone selling you a fraudulent car. This is widespread these days.

  • sickest muscle car of all time mabey thats why there worth $500,000 dont mess with the COPO

  • Hi

Great car!! is that a Zl-1 or it is an iron engine?

  • COPO's had iron blocks, ZL-1 were all aluminum blocks,heads.......one bad ass car!!!!

  • @MrCamaroman1969 - The 1969 COPO Camaro could be had with either the L-72 427 iron block engine or the ZL-1 aluminum engine. They were both COPO cars. "COPO", merely stood for, "Central Office Production Order", which denoted a special order car.

  • A. No.

    B. There is no bondo on that car to fall off. We don't do restos that way.

    C. Google the term "video artifacts".

  • omg that's a powerfull machine...what could be the price for such a beast? i mean i found out that there were only 201 original copo 69 camaro's and about 60 yenko camaros...

  • Yes, this is one bad-ass Camaro.......

  • @ChevyLover1990 - In 1969 Chevrolet built approximately 500 L-72 427 COPO Camaro's. Out of those, 199 went to Don Yenko Chevrolet in Canonsburg, P.A., where the, "Yenko", stripe kit and badges were installed on most of them and sold.

  • you are seeing things. what u see is the shadow from the sun. nothing falls off the car

  • no.

  • nice car...bad driver

  • Was this car featured in Muscle Machines??? or maybe Hotrod??? hahah idk, awesome car

  • It was featured in Muscle Car Milestones. You can see the magazine reproduced on our website.

  • @800hotrod5 i like that bright orange paint. nice copo.

  • @jim1brink - It's not a COPO.

  • @Echeque5 ok excuse me

  • Sounds real good man.

  • I was checking out pictures on the website, and the car was absolutely perfect, stunning restoration! Except for 1 minor detail, that people tend to forget about....The paint underneath the chrome on the side of the car is supposed to be black, and not the same colour as the car. Just my 2 cents.

  • love yenkos and copos

but i think i would rather have a yenko.

either would do but just the name yenko strikes fear into ford and dodge lovers lol

  • You're probably right. But now that Obama runs GM and Chrysler, it will be Fords that strike fear into them as the only car company left that can build muscle cars.

  • Hey, you can "build" your own by picking up an older one for cheap. Probably not first gen, but second gen's aren't too far outta reach.

  • what about new camaro? it's selling fine, isn't it?

  • yenko i a dealer that said wait what chevy didnt make one for the rest of us and there you go ...... not from factory

  • @punk531 - All 199 1969 Yenko Camaro's came from the Chevrolet factory production lines with the L-72 427/450 horse engines. Don Yenko merely installed his stripe kit and badges. A mere handful got anything more than that.

  • @Phoenixfire360 - All 199 1969 Yenko Camaro's are COPO cars.

  • After all these years , there is some hope for the ford crew!

  • I is a ford freak yet nobody in a right mind would refuse this machine!

The 69 is the best looking camaro in my opinion.

  • You got that right, Robwiley!

  • amen

  • Will this beat a yenko?

  • A COPO essentially is a Yenko. Guys like Yenko would do the COPO upgrades themselves because the factory would not ship them that way. Eventually the Factory let dealers order the cars from the factory with the Vette motors and other upgrades. Go to the website to get the whole story on this car and some of the history.

  • @911SHIZBO - The 1969 COPO Camaro and the 1969 Yenko Camaro are essentially the same cars, with the same engine. Only difference was the Yenko Camaro was a little flashier looking with the stripes and badges installed. The ZL-1 COPO Camaro is another story and had an all aluminum race engine that was capable of 600 horsepower.

  • how much more powerful is this engine then the 426 hemi?

  • I don't know. Specs for the car and motor are on the website.

  • The orignal 1969 ZL-1 came with 430HP, while a lot of the 426 Hemis came with 425HP.

  • But, LJ, both the Hemi and the ZL-1 ratings were a total joke - waaaay under rated. Especially the ZL-1 which would, in fact, toast a Hemi. Just like my Volo would.

  • I was just giving out the derogatory facts. Dunno about the ZL-1 "toasting" it. But I get it.

And your bloody Volo can toast anything. It's not fair to compare it to these engines.

  • Many people reading this will not understand just how hilarious your reply is!

For those who don't know, a Volo is a Bugatti and will toast any thing Chrysler ever made. Google it.

  • So I said something actually funny for a change? Shit.

  • Ok, if you have a Volo.. I want visual proof.. Honestly it annoys me to see people lie about what they actually have and what they don't have.

  • Sarc, I have a Bugatti Volo and it will toast just about anything. I do not have a video, but if you watch any Volo video you will understand.

  • Well can't you make a video?? I mean, you've already made a couple about corvettes and other chevys so why not make a video of it??? Or are you going to come up with some excuse that you can't find your camera or it isn't working right?? LOL

  • Are you talking about a toaster? I looked up your Bugatti volo on Googole, and found a toaster.

  • same here i think he is full of shit.

  • Is there some other kind of Volo? Like I said, it will toast almost anything.

  • @slugplok3 - The 1969 L-72 427 engine was factory rated at 425 horses. Don Yenko dyno tested them and found they actually generated 450 horsepower. With a set of headers, that would increase to over 500 horses. The ZL-1 Camaro with it's all aluminum race engine was capable of 600 horses.

  • Thanx for the uploading that vid really nice car

  • Thanks. Glad you enjoyed the video.

  • hey man, your crazy rippin through town like that, lol, anyone call the cops on ya?

  • Not yet. Besides, some of our best customers are cops...

  • omg...what do cops prefer? chevy, dodge or ford? or smt else?

  • @800hotrod5 - You bet some of your best customers are cops, because they don't get speeding tickets. We have two tiers of, "freedom", in America; a regular citizens freedom and then those of a cop, who are basically above the law.

  • @Echeque5 well maybe they deserve to be. its not easy enforcing the law, they have to deal with a lot of F*** ups

  • @iplayveryloud so should people who work at federal mint's get half the money they create....duh NO!!!! they dont deserve any bit more freedom, being a cop is JUST A JOB, they CHOSE to become a cop, if they were forced to be an officer of the law than maybe some judicial leaniency would be in order, but as far as im concerned they can quit just a fast as they joined.

  • @OldsPowered69 your obviously a little bitch

  • @iplayveryloud is that all you have to say, cry much??? still doesnt negate the fact that you have nothing educated to say on the subject...you resort to name calling because you know im right.

  • z28

  • ill trade you a all orginal 78 camaro for that plus ten grand boot

  • I bet you would.

  • Comment removed

  • lol thats like tradin a turd with toilet paper for a rolex.

  • I like orange on first gens.

  • how much does it cost to buy a car like this

  • To buy a restored or original condition COPO will probably cost you close to six figures. There were very few of these cars made, and only a handful have survived.

The car in the video was a standard SS Camaro restored to COPO specifications.

  • The Camaro in the video sounds outstanding...Do you have all the ingredients that went into the engine build????

  • Holy Crap!!

Just to be able to drive that Camaro ZL1 up and down Woodward Avenue, Detroit to Pontiac and back during just one Dream Cruise weekend in August, and I could die a happy man..LOL!!

  • I love Hugger orenge. I have a 69 DZ 302. may paint mine that color someday.

  • i'am frustrated atm, i've only seen the repro ZL1 block being manufactured, and i've searched for weeks on the internet for companies that makes aftermarket parts for use to make clones/replicas Zl1 cars, i haven't found anything related to it, other than the block at GM, i can't find parts and i don't know what to do now :(

If i would invest in a new ZL1 block and can't find parts needed to build the engine up like they were back then, it would be as throwing the money away...

    I'am tired now.

  • sweet

  • Could you tell me what is needed to have an exhaust and engine note like this?

    Any specific cams/headers/intake/converters/mufflers?

I would love to know. Thanks in advance.

  • That distinct note comes from the stock "chambered exhaust" system. Google that term and you will find manufacturers for them.

  • Thank you very much. I know my fair share of things about cars, but it seems that was one thing I didn't know. Really appreciate it.

    Makes it sound very tough.

  • My 69 Big Block 396/375hp Camaro is being fitted with Hooker headers tied into stainless "chambered " exhaust system. Think this will sound the same as the Orange Copo in the video??? Don

  • There are lots of variables that effect exhaust noise, including, displacement, timing, cam type, headers, intake manifold, carb, exhaust tube diameter, etc.

The chambered exhaust adds its own distinct notes. Yours may sound similar, but don't expect it to sound exactly the same unless all the other factors i listed are the same as well.

Exhaust noise is caused by the movement of air and exhaust through the system. Anything that alters that will alter the sound to one degree or another.

  • Thank You for the info. It will aid me in fine tuning my "69 Camaro"!

  • Even now with restorations and brand-spankin'-new muscle car engines, you don't get many cars that sounds as devilish as this one.

And I don't like orange cars, but it seems Camaros look good in any color.

  • Wow, that car actually gave me a boner.

  • sounds like you need to get out more.

  • agreed with him needing to get out more

  • The way it growls and snarls is righteous.

  • youre a lucky man to have one of those. i have a 69 z28 but it needs full resto. cant wait to get that sweetie on the road and torch those rice rockets and mustangs.

  • simply a work of art that car.

anyone who is insulting this car/owner for keeping it stock. Has no appreciation for true classics. Nor true cars.

  • agreed

  • @DaRkSaTaN666 - It's not stock.

  • I would thank a copo would break them small bias plys loose.

  • Easily. But since we don't actually own the car, and are driving it on a public street by the shop where we built it, we did not want to get too crazy. We just wnated to get a bit of video of the car so peopole could see and hear it.

  • Ignore my bad spelling...

  • Hat's off to You and your crew on a Job well DONE!!!! One haul'in ass Camaro!

  • The guy driving that "muscle machine" knows how to drive that bad boy Camaro!!!

  • @bigdaddy0228 - It's not a COPO car.

  • Comment removed

  • wow, i'm a big Mustang fan, but now I have a whole new respect for Camaro's... both after watching this and the Barret-Jackson in Scottsdale!

  • is that really the original exhaust cause it sounds fuckin badass?

  • then fit the original rims when selling it, instead of driving on barrel wheels

  • get some rims on the car and stop dishonoring it by driving on those ballugly bicycle wheels

  • What part of "original" or "stock" don't you understand?

  • Ignore all the jerkoffs. I have the same car restored @ 95% . The car sits @ $70000 all day long. Yours probably more. He drives his Moms civic!

  • I know, they're just so annoying...

  • lol the wheels may be ugly but the fact that they are the original style wheels make the car worth so much more money.

hot rod culture in a nutshell...

"if i had to explain it, you wouldnt understand."

  • lol.. nice quote.

  • These rims make the car look like a "sleeper". It also make the car look sleek, clean and MEAN!!!!

  • Yeah, just looking at it, you would not think it is anything special. He had a hell of a time finding 4 decent caps for the wheels. Had to buy 2-3 sets over the internet to get 4 undamaged ones. Very hard to find.

  • where your shop??

  • We are located in Escondido, Ca. In north San Diego County where Interstate 15 and Hwy. 78 meet.

    2324 Auto Park Way

    Escondido, CA 92029

There is a map on our website.

  • thanx cuase I love your guys work you do great at what you do best Ill be getting a 67 camaro that if i dont have the time to rebuild would be honored that you guys take on the task instead

  • We'd be honored to do the work. Additional contact info is on our website when you are ready.

  • shut up i dont mind the rims on it they look alot better then some black boy rims
