  • arudou debito, shmardou shmebito. This guy is quickly becoming the sharpton of Japan--he views himself in the same light as MLK or Mandela--please, i'm not a hater, i hate haters, but this guy has his self-righteous ego so far up his ass that you can see it bulging in his gut.

  • Debito-haters are losers. You don't have to agree with him or like his personality, but if you call him bad names you're just being an idiot. Everything he does is well within his rights and honestly a lot of his haters really exaggerate what Debito does and says. He doesn't say that all Japanese are racist, for instance, as a lot of people claim. Don't over-dramatize this guy.

  • And about 2ch, Hiroyuki and 2ch is not illegal. Debito just doesn't understand the difference between Civil Laws and Criminal Laws. Yes there are idiots in 2ch, but it is you and what you've done that made those idiots go mad on you!! Serves you right.

  • As a Japanese, I hate Debito from my heart. Yes there is racism in Japan, but it's far far far less than in the U.S, his original country. DEBITO is just an anti-Japan activist. This is clear when you see his website. All he did was to make people hate Japan, and to make Japanese people hate foreigners. If you don't like Japan, gtf out and go back to the U.S!! We don't need you!! We hate you!!!!

  • @NickJGR29 You don't speak for the Japanese people. Only the Japanese government does that, so stop proving Debito right about racist Japanese.

  • Debito AKA DAVID is a known troublemaker and whines for publicity, nothing more. i've lived in japan and know many others who still live there, and no one takes that fat weaboo seriously.

  • I used to support Debito on his endeavors but, the more I know about Japan the less inclined I feel to continue to do so.

Sadly, he seems to just be reinforcing the bad image Japanese have about gaijins. He was in his whole right to demand service at Yunohana onsen as a Japanese citizen, and I'm glad he won the case, but outside of that...

  • ...Debito seems to be pushing things a little too far, even complaining about the term "gaijin", and this only portrays him in a bad light in Japanese eyes by not abiding to the accepted standards of social behavior and conformism of his nation.

I am particularly interested in knowing jeshii's opinion on the matter, have your feelings changed about it? Do you feel, like I do, that Debito could have given a better image of foreigners by stopping after the onsen case and just be glad he won?

  • I have pretty mixed feelings about this whole thing, but I've got two main things that I'm fairly certain about:

    1. Debito is just trying to do good in his own way. I respect him for that fact.

    2. The other side of the 2chan thing is all the people who enjoy it. It's like any other popular internet site, there will be slander and scandal. But I think he made a lot of enemies out of some good people unnecessarily on that front. It's not how I would do it.. But, that's not his style. So be it.

  • @jeshii

Thanks for your videos and comments. Why would you want to complain "Japanese only" signs posted in Kabukicho, hostess bars, so called "clubs"(aka sex clubs, massage), etc. etc. yeah it's unthinkable back in the States but there are thousands of thousands of places in Japan where people are welcome regardless of race, color, etc. etc.

If I go to a biker bar back in the States and talk about how Hondas are better than Harleys I wonder how they would react???

  • so japan is racist.. ? or the debate is that some are and some arent.. i really want to go to japan but the kind of discussion are telling me not to risk and go

  • beeing rasict is natural.

  • Japan isn't racist, there is a few who spoil it for the others.

    go to japan

  • Many white people that come to Japan are treated very well compared to those of other colours and nationalities. Deep down they know that Japan is a country with pockets of deep racism but refuse to acknowledge it, or make any effort to change it. The reason for this is that to do so would mean being possibly shunned by their Japanese hosts and being lumped with all other "gaikokujin", thereby losing their special status. I'm white by the way and lived in Japan for over 10 years.

  • I'm black, I guest I'd better find a small part of japan where black people are favored and wanted.

  • There is no such place man!

  • Your right I'll just fight the good old fight when I get there. I believe it has alot to do with how the western media potrays black and hispanics. But I've heard many of the young kids are slowly becoming interested in black culture. I heard japanese people in country saying "how they hate niggers to white people" but also heard of many japanese women following black guys in the major cities. I guest I'll form an opinion once I get there.

  • Plus alot of foriegners including blacks from what I've heard are a bunch of pussie hounds. They bang alot of the native women and guest that distracts them from the truth.

  • I talk to a few blacks on youtube who are in japan and they told me that they have gotten better treatment in japan then the states, THATS JUST WHAT IVE HEARD. there is racism but I don't think saying thats "THERE NO SUCH PLACE MAN!" or discouraging people of color to coming to japan is going to make anything better. If anything more ignorance and hate between the cultures.

  • can somebody explain to my why this guy is hated so much

and why people here in the comments section are insulting non-japanese people in english

  • I'm not going to try to explain why people hate him so much, but sorry about those comments. Anyone know how to ban people from the comments section? It would be nice if

Ainokami1986 and nattokirai2009 could take them discussion elsewhere.

  • you can go to their channel and click block user, that should block them from being able to watch your vids

  • The Japanese resent him because he uses litigation to change social policy and then accuses the Japanese collectively of racism. Many Japanese feel persecuted in their own country by foreigners who don't know the etiquette and won't bother to learn. Instead of banning all foreigners from certain places though, I would suggest that the Japanese use dress codes to keep out the riff raff.

  • Yeah, I really don't understand it either. I understand if a Japanese person has an issue with an activist like this but the fact that he is hated by (western) foreigners is bizarre. I think it's because he's forcing them to open their eyes and acknowledge that Japan is not the paradise they would like to think it is, and that one can do something about it.

  • Honestly, I don't like the man himself. He is, in my opinion, an IRL troll. And he likes to make a big deal about some things that are just plain ridiculous. Take that thing with the seal. I think he's pissed he just missed the 60's. Read his blog about why he got rid of his American citizenship. And just try to debate him there. He'll block you from it if you don't take his side. He only allows a few token amounts of dissent and banhammers the rest.

  • Well whatever he says, some white in Japan can get more benefits than others somehow. Arudou wants too much. He should keep back, if he's still a christian or human, not just a spoilt pig.

  • I just don't understand people like you! He is a Japanese citizen and has a right to try and change his society! If he manages to change things then other people will benefit! Yes, whities in Japan get treated well compared to others but there are still institutional reasons that legitimise discrimination in Japan.

  • whining bitch

  • @MelissasFather

Let's face the truth. I hate hypocrisy.

100% of people are potentially racist.

    Racism won't die out forever.

People should settle down down in their home.

    Multiculturalism is bad.

  • no, multucultarism isnt that bad.

um... its just this debito guy made such a big deal out of this hot spring thing

  • See my comment above. You fit into the pattern described.

  • It isn't bad, it's just that people are demanded to absorb too many different cultures at once, hence the potencial racism that's inside all of us. Things are going too fast these days, all thanks to the internet.

But hey, between staying ignorant and knowing more about the world, I'd take the second one any day of the week.

  • "Go home foreigners."

Gladly. Hope you like Korean food!

  • NANA NANANANANA NANA

    YAMATO DAMACY

  • Arudou is not a civil rights activist, he's a cult leader.

Try criticizing him on his blog.

    You'll be banned.

Arudou hates everybody who don't worship him.

  • He's not so nice in person.

Remember me Mr. Aldwinckle? Remember what you said?

I wish I had enough money to sue you.

  • racism is every where no matter what !!!! thats just the way it is sad in it gomenasai daijobu daijobu for those that feel bad about it

  • He's Wapanese!!!!

  • "It's revenge of the nerds!" Heh..

  • デビッド、風呂に入れたかい?

  • はじめまして。I do think it is unfortunate when Western people just go to Japan to take advantage of the peaceful society. But, I think that the foreigners who are hard working far outnumber the others. They are just trying to make a living. Young people of any modern society will go out and have fun loudly. The same things these people do in Japan, they would do in their home countries as well.

Thank is my opinion. Thank you for yours. よろしくお願いいたします。

  • TAKE ADVANTAGE of the peaceful society? What do you mean by that?

See, I come from NOW a peaceful country in Europe, where various ethnicities live and do not get much discriminated (some discrim. exist anywhere). I met and married my Japanese spouse abroad and came to Japan 10 yrs ago. Now I don't have much peace as people stare at us, bully my child at school and call us gaijin. I work hard, at home and out, but...

  • This is the real Japan. Totally racist and defiant against foreign races. As globalization takes place more and more, the real truth about Japan is rising to the surface and looks like a black-eye on the face of the world. Arudou is a westerner who is trying to assimilate into Japanese society. But they really wont have him. So he has been forced into activism. His lawsuit described is a perfect example, they will never pay him. Is this really a peaceful civilized society in Japan ?

  • Xenophobe describes better Japanese attitude towards foreigners than plain racism. Japan has been a Xenophobic society for most of its history. And when a society like Japan starts having issues with economical recession and social problems [hikikomori people] because of it, the easiest way out is "Blame the foreigners". And many other countries do the same [though allegedly, to a lesser degree], Americans blame Latinamericans, Germans blame Turkish, Spaniards blame Africans, etc.

  • haha a salad of names lol

  • As for Tottori issue, in short, this law enables you to black out someone you don't like by accusing him/her of falsely. Conversely, once you get sued, you won't get a chance to prove your incorruption and you'll be forced to admit your fault. What is more, this law doesn't have any subscriptions about nationality requirement of the power wielders.

  • why?

  • why do the cops stop him????

thats kinda wered...he doesnt do something with drugs and he doesnt look suspicious and still he gets stopped....by the cops?

    crazy

  • He looks foreign. Maybe he's overstaying his visa? Maybe he isn't carrying his gaijin-card and passport? Let's stop him and give him a ride home if he isn't carrying his passport.

    Yes, it's fucked up.

  • Next time I want to see your report of the relationship between this guy and Mindan-Chongryon.

    (If it's not too dangerous)

  • At the end of the day, in real life, the way people treat you, it doesn't count for shit whether you are 'officially' Japanese or not, you are still a fucking gaijin so accept it and shut the fuck up!

  • Say it loud and say it proud!

    I am a fucking gaijin! :P

  • debito is my hero, he is standing up for what he believes in, plus he obtained a citizen

  • I think he's my hero too :D

  • you should link this video to the forums of fuckedgaijin.com

I read a little about this on this site. I've also heard about not renting an apartment to gajin.

    It is interesting.

  • Interesting.
