See Star Trek III for a modern take on the classic phaser and communicator. They were wonderful pieces that DID look modern, but they also paid homage and respect to the original classic designs. This is all the new designers had to do...keep the same basic lines and put their own modern twist/stamp on them. Alas, no, they fell for the cliché of thinking 'modern' means ultra sleek, impossibly shiny and like it was bought at an Apple store. How desperately unimaginative of them.

What is the size of this model in comparison to other communicators like the Master Replicas or DST version, or inches? I'm asking because I've never had a chance to get a look at it and, being blind, the video obviously doesn't help either. Thanks a million.

Compared to DST it about the same size, just an inch skinnyier. It doesn't quiet fit in its holder, that it comes hit, the holder is a little to big.
