I really hope Seattle gets a team. It's got a local rivalry with the Canucks, and it will be possible for me to make a road trip up there. Also, better travel for west coast teams
Press conference coming tomorrow at Seattle City Hall to announce a new arena deal. If the Coyotes don't get their deal done with Jamison and JR, then we would love to have them up in Seattle :D
@seattlesharksfan I think the Coyotes are headed to Quebec City, they're way ahead of seattle for a team. But I'd love to see a team in Seattle. As an Oilers fan I think having them in our division is better than Colorado. So maybe Columbus or NY Islanders?
Kansas City Coyotes has a nice ring to it. Here's the bottom line: Quebec City and Seattle are the two best cities to move the Coyotes (and Hamilton of course), however only Kansas City has a state of the art arena.
Quebec's arena won't complete for a few years and Seattle has no plans for a new one. It won't be hard to find owners in KC.
That's stupid Los Angeles, Anaheim, Dallas, Carolina, and Tampa is in the Sunbelt yet you think hockey belongs in those cities. The predators in attendance went from 14,979 in 09-10 to 16,142 in 10-11 to season which in percentage from the number 17, 113 it shot up from 87.5 to 94.3 which included 20 sellouts and every playoff home game being sold out. We care about our team. Atlanta didn't that's why they are in Winnipeg.
@titansnascarfan11 thats not stupid.real Icehockey dont belong in the sunbelt.doesnt make Sense.
but you are right in atlanta those idiots didnt care about their team.good for you if you guys in nashville care.but for how long?????????????????????/
@TheHockeyfreak1964 Tom Cigarran, chairman of the Nashville Predators, said a week ago he wanted to raise $20-25 million in further equity to reduce the debit & that could take 1.5 years to complete. If this deal gets done the predators are here in Nashville forever whether you think Sunbelt sucks and Hamilton deserves a team doesn't matter preds are here forever once that gets done.
@TheHockeyfreak1964 How long?? Well their total overall attendance is a little over 15,000 which comes out almost 89% capacity. Not bad for a small market team. The Preds have never had a average season attendance under 13,000 and they have only had 2 seasons in the 13,000. The other 12 seasons they have had 14,000 or higher. I don't have any idea why everyone thinks Nashville attendance has been so bad.
@chrispredsfan This is the 2nd season in a row you guys have averaged over 16,000 it's really cool how your team almost moved and a couple years later they became pretty much the best example of a good market in the South must be cool.
@sandman8185 It is very cool and closeness that our team has with our fans is incredible. Fans can go watch practice and then have lunch with them. For a small market team their ownership and organization is ran so well. Lower budget but very competitive year in and year out. GO PREDS!!!
@chrispredsfan There a fun team to watch defensive low scoring close games low in the playoff standings usualy an underdog in the playoffs i'm a Canucks fan and you were a fun opponent in the playoffs.
They should move a hockey franchise somewhere in the States that isn't doing very well in its sports environment to Seattle. Most noticeably, the Phoenix Coyotes. It should quite a Pacific Northwest rivalry between the Vancouver Canucks and the Seattle ?. The bottom line is: Seattle is the right market and climate for professional hockey.
@Lurvy1963 I think so Seattle needs a NHL team maybe the Seattle Thunderbirds or the legendary Metropolitans first US team won the glory Stanley Cup in 1917.i think it is only a matter of time that the City of Seattle get a NHL team.good luck.
Bellevue will have to be the place where the arena will be built. Either it will be in Bellevue Auto Row or in the Safeway parking lot. The easy access to the 405 freeway Northbound or southbound is only 1 block.
The problem with Key Arena is not enough parking and plus you would have to tear down Key Arena and build a completely new one. Key Arena is in a neighborhood, so it is very hard to expand that. You would have to build the arena
@comradecommedy Nashville is one of the loudest arena's in the NHL and that is according to the TSN announcers. Their attendance is strong and 90% of their ownership is local and has no plans on moving the team anywhere.
@rparry82 I think it is possible for the Islanders to move but I think they will go to Queens. I don't Wang will take them out of the NYC metro region. Also the Coyotes could relocate if the NHL can't find a buyer to keep them in the Glendale.
@titansnascarfan11 Then why are they still losing money? Oh, that's right. They have to drop the prices down to the point that people will actually buy them.
@FAITHandLOGIC Well no wonder why Atlanta lost their team another northern transplant that only went to a thrashers game when what NY team came to town.
@titansnascarfan11 You got it! We northern transplants root for our OWN teams, not the teams of cities that we just happen to live in. Bettman is too stupid to know this.
@FAITHandLOGIC Actually that is not true. I sat in area that has two rows and all but another couple are originally from Nashville. They come from Detroit, Buffalo, New York City and Boston areas, they are all now die-hard Preds fans. All with full season tickets.
@titansnascarfan11 well if the thrashers were winners you would probably would have rooted for them, but they only were winners in 06-07 so that doesn't help, and the owners barely advertised the thrashers in atlanta from what i'm hearing so how do you expect people to fill the building when they don't know what days the games are in a non-traditional market
@titansnascarfan11 Real Pro NHL Hockey dont belong to the Sunbelt.nashville can have a Hockey team in the CHL but not in the glory NHL.face it my friend.same for Phoenix,Florida,Columbus because it is not the market for hockey.
@SilvinFin No problem. I've always thought Seattle should have a team — long before I ever lived here. And the YouTube channel is nothing new, I just don't often have videos to upload for the blog.

This has been flagged as spam show
these are the only markets for expansion or relocation:
Definitely - Houston, KC, Seattle, Portland, Hamilton, Quebec
Maybe - Saskatoon, Oakland
thats it. Forget Hartford, Cleveland, Milwaukee, Indy, Regina, Las Vegas.

We will eventually get an NHL team soon hopefully - I could actually root for a team that's in my state and not across the Canadian border.
