  • This will be played at my funeral

  • Beautiful interlude 2:05-2:20

  • this is such an excellent band. i miss them alot.

  • @defndpoppunk i see your man overboard username there. and btw they are still kicking man.

  • @8Dgman really? ill have to keep my eye out for them.

  • We should play this song on every deppressive moment of our lives. I'm sure this will take a smile from us.

  • Rodney poking his head out lol

  • Dave always played the women <3

    RIP

  • I was sitting on my couch thinking of all I could, there was a song playing I understood, So I stopped and turned it up. The rest of the world just stopped there with me, we all had a laugh and left reality. Maybe I saw too much to understand, but ever since I just don't care. The secret to me is no secret at all, I laugh instead of cry and I know that's how it goes. I just heard this on the radio, almost 20 years to the day. I started smiling then I cried, I felt beautiful and free.

  • @ymerej33 I love those moments. Where you just laugh at life, because it all just seems so funny. Not a lot of people understand it, but once you get to the point where you do, it feels like the most simple thing there is.

  • I should've gotten video of them as well but didn't think about it till descendants went on.

  • One of my favorite songs. I was really hoping they'd play it at Riot Fest East but they didn't. Still I've been waiting years to see them and it was amazing!

  • @morgan16382 i was there too! so fun!!!

  • This might be my favorite song of all time

  • why are the songs jack do alwats sound great

  • LSD

  • probably my favorite song ever.

  • Maybe the person in the song was originally Stuart, and his old man was WAY off

  • So... a guy taken to another world, leaving everything behind... and a supercomputer from which is learned the answer to the ultimate question of life? Hm. Makes me wonder if Douglas Adams was a Dead Milkmen fan.

  • @BlkKatt13 Maybe Dead Milkmen were Douglas Adams fans.

  • oh my gosh joe was such a cutie

  • 5 people aren't on drugs. ;)

  • THIS SONG MAKES ME CRAY. :( i love it.

    best deadmilkmen song EVER.

  • wtf random toaster?

  • I love this freaking song. Love live the Milkmen!

  • lol @ joe's face during "don't wanna read them anymore!"

  • luv it

  • beautiful! and insane! good song overall!

  • This is one of the best songs ever.

  • crazy bastards. <3 this song

  • Why is this song so elusive on record sites and itunes? what album is it from?

  • @shaolinotter Soul rotation

  • New Dead Milkmen album this April!

  • @BrentFail where can one purchase this album?

  • @shaolinotter You can keep yourself updated on the release date and purchasing options at their official website.

  • Thank you deadmilkmen, you always take me out of a bad mood

  • I never knew they made a new wave song

  • when was this video made

  • i love their half-assed guitar solos and how it goes over the vocals.

like the band themselves, this is a half-assed video to a song that sounds silly but says more about life

screw walt disney-owned hollywood records for not giving them the rights back to their own records.

dave blood, you are missed. and @iHaveGeekStinkBreath, you are totally right they should've played this at the funeral.

  • ok where can i get some gold pants?

  • they are recording a new album

  • Love the dead milkmen, I only wish youtube would leave the damn video's alone. They keep taking down video's that I want to see and hear. Yet they leave 129 copies of punk rock girl....

  • 3:30 that guy is totally in soundgardens black hole sun video!

  • hahah.... drugs...

  • do they have a greatest hits cd out?

  • @jshkendra death rides a pale cow

  • 5 people dont know the secret of life !

  • this may be the smarted song ever

  • lol that dude with the beard and the purple glasses was in the music video for black hole sun by audioslave i think

  • @GuruBabadesh Blackhole sun was Soundgarden!!!!

  • The bassist is dead isn't he?

  • @jshkendra not only is he dead, he killed himself.

  • @GuruBabadesh Was he gay? Just wondering.

  • @GuruBabadesh it would've been great for them to have played this song at his funeral.

  • @iHaveGeekStinkBreath David is my uncle! i miss him dearly even though i never met him once. my mom told me he was hoot growing up with round the house. Kurt and Joe, her two dick brothers would pick on her, and david would defend my mommy as she's the oldest child and took care of them all when margie (her mom, my grandmama) and david (the father) was at work.

  • Also, david was the lady dressed in white. And the one in the pink dress in the video "smoking banana peels"!

  • @michaelallenfarmer hot! =D

  • the most retardedd band ever, but thats why i love them

  • The song version of cliffnotes for Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

  • i fucking LOVE the dead milkmen. and also love danelectro guitars. win win.

  • 3:37 - Black Hole Sun, anyone?

  • lol i love the whole grindyness to his voice

  • RIP Dave

  • @lynus111 That was sad to hear about.

  • @lcacwelder Very sad indeed.

  • 3:35 hey its that old man with the hat from that Soundgarden video

  • does anyone know what kind of guitar joe is using?

  • @ColtyRamone danelectro i think

  • @ColtyRamone Its a custom Bell guitar.

  • @ColtyRamone it's an ovation. some call it the "Lamb chop".

  • This is one of the best songs ive herd in a while

  • they are my favorite band

  • I always pictured the alien "guide" to be a female. Now it is ruined.

On another note, people are still griping about soul rotation??? What year is it again?

Oh, and this video is horrible. Still love them though.

  • It's like the battle between some fans of The Clash that do not like "Combat Rock" and some like it all.

The Dead Milkmen are no acception. Fans who love their old stuff only and those who like it all are different breeds. I'm of the later.

  • I noticed a tone of "sellout" in the history of the Dead Milkmen. I think this video kind of adds to it, but the 90's seemed to be rife with it. Looking at the vids (not just of this band) it seems like the 80's ones were fun and amateurish and creative and the 90's ones were overly produced and wannabe funky. I still really liked this album, there's some great melodies in there...

  • @ianc2674 I place Soul Rotation down the scale as well, but it did grow on me. I guess you can't catch lightning in a bottle with every album. But even on their worst day the Dead Milkmen were still awesome. Kids today can find out about them on Youtube. What a great band to "discover" online. The music is still fresh today. I got to see DM twice back in the day. Everyone sang along and those shows are two of my favorites ever.

  • I absolutely loved DM back in the day, but Soul Rotation was subpar compared to all their previous efforts. Hollywood Records ruined the band.

  • Fucking awesome!

  • One of my very favorite Milkmen tunes. Thanks for posting this.

  • i like the dead milkmen, but this just sounds so generic....

  • @sxephlI agreed. this is just kinda boring.

  • @sxephlI considering it was recorded in 1984, nothing like it was really done, I mean even Sonic Youth, didn't have it together, it's really ahead of it's time from a sonic writing stand point, and the cure was still experimental at this time too.

  • X) yayayayayy YAYY

  • It seems like they always tried to tell some stupid story in their songs.

  • I think the lead singer and bassist look like they might have been lovers!!!!!!!!!!

  • @jshkendra do you mean the actual lead singer or the one singing in this song?

  • @donnerparty57 The singer of this song and the lead guitar player also.

  • Is that Jamie Farr from mash at 3:21?

  • @jshkendra I have this on vhs and that is not Jamie Farr.. but I think its the same guy from the Violent Femmes America Music video. This fact always puzzled me.

  • @ianc2674 I was just saying the guy looks like Jamie Farr. That is who he looks like.

  • I found them all because i Googled milk man... i definitely love this band (:

  • I think the budget for making this video was very tight!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • :')

  • the spirit of punk!

  • On the second guitar solo you can see two hands on the fretboard and one hand strumming. Where did this third hand come from?

  • aaaaaaaaaaaaaah

  • hey avalanchessoul: I'm fairly sure it was on soul rotation...the album cover is like blue with little stars i think

  • what is this on? i thought i had, or at least heard, all dead milkmen recordings.

  • @avalanchesoul believe its from the soul rotation album

  • @avalanchesoul - This was on Soul Rotation, which was awful compared to Metaphysical Graffiti, Beelzebubba, Bucky Fellini, and Big Lizard.

  • Wow

  • Wow

  • My all time FAv Band ever!!

  • I believe that everyone thinks that this video is just random and funny, I just realized how geniusly thought out and directed this was.

  • this song reminded me of getting stoned

  • lol_ bangles_ theme

  • LOVES It

  • is this from soul rotation?

thats the only album i don't have

  • @cheseeproductions yep second track

  • @BrentFail is it on itunes?

  • @BrentFail is it on itunes?

  • One of the greatest bands ever! fun and original. 80s and 90s punk geniuses.

  • SO GOOD SOOOO GOOD

  • butterfly joe rulez

  • They were released under a different record company and dont think they were rereleased

  • @lynus111 they were released by hollywood records.....they hold the master copys and will not give them to the band because they are greedy assholes!

  • @looshkin66 thats what they get for selling out and signing to a company owned by Disney. shame, really. love the band though

  • i love this song, has a sense of freedom to it, when i get a car ill definatly have this song cranked.

  • they've changed my life!

  • classic!

  • I just knitted my first sock :D

    this song is touching..

  • beware of dick

  • definatly one of my top 5 favorite songs ever! it gets ★★★★★

  • This is really one of my favorite songs ever.

  • This is wonderfully ridiculous. xD

  • This song is getting played at my funeral.

  • or take my breath away by berlin

  • @flontobin me to

  • me to

  • famous is fer the rich people. whod wanna be rich n famous?

  • The Butthole Surfers did not try to get famous, they tried to find a record label after getting kicked the one they were on, and they lost 2 of their core members.

  • Going from Touch and Go records to signing with Capital Records???

Capital aint gonna sign nobody that's gonna sell a few thousand records.

So in order to sell more albums, the Surfers had to compromise their creativity that made them unique.

  • The Dead Milkmen don't need to be famous.

Look what happened to the Butthole Surfers when they tried to "get famous"

    They lost their roots.

The Milkmen always stayed true to their fans.

  • Does anyone know the solo for this song?

  • man this song is so awsome, it should like be more famous, ya know?

  • got to love the dead. (milkmen that is)

  • RIP

    Dave

  • what guitar is that?

  • @coldplaysbiggestfan2 Yes they're still amazing, and they just played in Philly on the 24th.

  • They were awesome at Riot Fest, so much damn energy.

  • amazin

  • so much love

  • That black lady at the end is my grammy!

  • when i form my band, i don't want to be big. I'd much rather have the respect and reputation that the milkmen had when just being a college rock band.

  • The Dead Milkmen are brilliant...I don't think they'd be 1/2 as good if they'd gone "big time"

  • i felt beautiful and free. . . rip brother dave

  • Dave was always the drag queen, RIP my friend.
