  • Viznut has a unique style, minimalism and nice messages. His parody demos for DOS are funny too, I watched some of them subtitled to English :)

  • Beautiful.

  • One of my favourite VIC demos. The music is fantastic!

  • Amazing stuff!

  • One of my favourite VIC 20 Demos

  • The crude voice synthesis is my favorite part

  • That video was amazing

  • GLORY TO THE HUMAN RACE!

  • @teachme325 and Social democracy!!!!!

  • PWP, the group, is the masters of the craft. For now, I'm going to just talk about the music, which is good enough to be warranting, possibly, a WHOLE album worth of the stuff...

  • I just hope Timbaland doesn't get to it first.. :(

  • @jci10 let put a bounty on timbaland if he does....

  • sounds like mad world by tears for fears a bit

  • love to get my hands on that vocoder code

  • it's not a vocoder but a speech synthesizer.

  • Forgive me for being a clueless man on the subject, but how exactly did it work? The speech synthesizer that is.

Did it work through the rectangle-wave generators (Assuming Wikipedia isn't lying, it's had enough mistakes as it is) or did you use PCM samples to sample parts of the speech?

  • Wait, this isn't one of viznuts videos... whoops.

I'll repost my question there, sorry for the mistake.

  • yeah he can give better answers.

  • read a note from viznut somewhere that this requires an relatively unfragmented disk to run from, which makes me think this is a vocoder which implements formants using a pre-recorded signal rather than generating its own....cant imagine the 6502 being too good with a band pass filter haha

  • as far as i've understood, the visual side is somekind of animation which is streamed from disk.

  • I'd be completely unsurprised, the whole demo looks like it is a demo of the disk drive, not the VIC-20. =p

  • well, if you think that's easy to do on vic-20 then you're pretty clueless.

  • Good point.

I should have said in comparison to his other demos. =P

Then again, I don't really know that much about the VIC-20, I will admit.

  • @nosfeh Im guessing the challenge isnt programming in itself, but limiting the programming to fit VIC 20's low memory? Im betting theres alot of shortcuts necessary :) never programmed on the vic20 myself.. But this looks wicked! Great upload man!

  • pwp b33 BRAAAAPP

  • Take that, Microsoft Sam and Vocaloids.

  • Don't be messin with my Miku or Rin!

  • Incredible.

  • Viznut is the one taking it to the next level!! This is some of his best work yet...

  • This takes so much tenacity and downright guts to do what Viznut does on this machine.

    *Salutes*

  • There were no robots in this PWP video...or was there?

  • I thought it was a unique change.

It actually has a story that makes you think what exactly has happens.

  • nice!

  • haha, VIC-20 demos, and good ones to! :D

  • Rules!!

  • I hoped this one would've won but 2nd place is good too :)

  • take me with you!

  • I would like to hear this with some realtime vocoder singing :D

  • Even tho the speech synth is bad, I really like this one for some reason.

Also thanks for re-capturing this. The stream has a slightly lower sound quality.
