what exactly did the heatlhcare reform bill actually reform. What changes were made to keep people out of the ER? Why didn't the U.S. just adopt the French model in an attempt to reduce costs? Also if employers want a healthy workforce, then those that can will heavily subsidize and offer cheap benefits to their employees however employers are not obligated.
Obama also failed to address how to get medical costs down where one could pay in cash for services rendered based on their income level. That would've been a fairer way to go and I'm tired of watered down insurance policies where I pay a premium then I pay extra on top of said premium in deductibles/co-insurance etc. Well I'm not getting what I pay for then when it comes to health ins. @mystic81006 well it seems like the amount the govt wastes (and assuming there is still a shortage), you can train the homeless and help them get their CDL. That is just one solution. Other solutions are to model it like Nevada's unemployment system where you can get free computer training. As far as shelter goes, there is such a thing as boarding houses where rooms are rented. Yes you are sharing a kitchen and a bathroom but its a start. Varies from community to community.
@mystic81006 overall I think our Federal and State Govts lack a lot of common sense to do what is right in getting people working. I'd be getting the homeless to pick crops in the fields vs. outsourcing to immigrants from Mexico and of course pay them reasonable compensation and perhaps provide them with free shelter or discounted rent. Just one example of many and you'd figure the more people that are working the more that pay into the system.

@mystic81006 I've run across people down on their luck before when workng other parts of the U.S. Without question I filled up a person's gas tank once and I also gave out money as well. Doesn't even begin to solve the problem or put a dent in how bad things really are. Actually in parts of northern CA, and in other states we also have to remember that families did indeed lose their homes. It all comes down to a govt/private enterprise scam.

Actually I think I saw a lot of that on Oahu, HI where some people were living out of their trailers and parking at the beach. Not many options if you go broke in HI. Getting back to the free shelter ideal, the rule is obviously homeless people looking for work if they are able to work & learning new skils.
@mystic81006 where I was living before, I was next door to the lady with her two daughters and I've give them rides wherever (store/doctor/church) because they didn't have their own transportation. The way I viewed it I also had errands to run to so it was no big deal for me and it was good to help out a little without demanding any money for gas or any financial compensation. Those deeds can sometime be paid back in other ways when you least expect but I never expect anything in return.

I've seen the cost of living in the bigger markets where $10/hr and below just isn't enough unless you stop taxing below a certain income level completely where individuals get 100% of what they make. Another guy was trying to take care of his girlfriend and her two daughters, but the mother had a bi-polar disorder making it difficult for her to seek work. Obama also failed to address how to get medical costs down where one could pay in cash for services rendered based on their income level. That would've been a fairer way to go and I'm tired of watered down insurance policies where I pay a premium then I pay extra on top of said premium in deductibles/co-insurance etc. Well I'm not getting what I pay for then when it comes to health ins. @mystic81006 well it seems like the amount the govt wastes (and assuming there is still a shortage), you can train the homeless and help them get their CDL. That is just one solution. Other solutions are to model it like Nevada's unemployment system where you can get free computer training. As far as shelter goes, there is such a thing as boarding houses where rooms are rented. Yes you are sharing a kitchen and a bathroom but its a start. Varies from community to community.

I'd be getting the homeless to pick crops in the fields vs. outsourcing to immigrants from Mexico and of course pay them reasonable compensation and perhaps provide them with free shelter or discounted rent. Just one example of many and you'd figure the more people that are working the more that pay into the system.

Doesn't even begin to solve the problem or put a dent in how bad things really are. Actually in parts of northern CA, and in other states we also have to remember that families did indeed lose their homes. It all comes down to a govt/private enterprise scam.

Actually I think I saw a lot of that on Oahu, HI where some people were living out of their trailers and parking at the beach. Not many options if you go broke in HI. Getting back to the free shelter ideal, the rule is obviously homeless people looking for work if they are able to work & learning new skils.

@mystic81006 where I was living before, I was next door to the lady with her two daughters and I've give them rides wherever (store/doctor/church) because they didn't have their own transportation. The way I viewed it I also had errands to run to so it was no big deal for me and it was good to help out a little without demanding any money for gas or any financial compensation. Those deeds can sometime be paid back in other ways when you least expect but I never expect anything in return.

I've seen the cost of living in the bigger markets where $10/hr and below just isn't enough unless you stop taxing below a certain income level completely where individuals get 100% of what they make. Another guy was trying to take care of his girlfriend and her two daughters, but the mother had a bi-polar disorder making it difficult for her to seek work. Kind of fucked situations that are out there at the moment. You help who you can though within reason.

Also, there's so much bias in the title it's absurd. Way to twist words to make it sound scandalizing. A more objective and accurate title of the video would be "Obama says there will be fines for people who can afford but refuse to buy health insurance, and not paying those fines will lead to penalties, possibly jail time". I know it's a little long, but the point is that it's unbiased, unlike the title used here to get people up in arms.

@eifersucht2 You can essentially view health insurance like a tax, where everyone pays it, and everyone gets the service (unless you can't afford it, in which case they'll help you out). Your comment is like saying you'll "choose not to pay any taxes", and not use any public services, or publicly funded entities. Sorry but that's not how it works, and if you choose not to pay your taxes, there will be penalties. Same thing here.

here is a perfect example of what happens when you force aspects of socialism on top of a free market tradition, citizens are forced to buy health insurance or been fined. In Europe they don't have that problem because of socialized medicine, in a free market America, real competition allows health care to be affordable, but in this toxic mixture of freedom and socialism in America, instead people get fined for not BUYING health insurance, thus gone is the benefits of freedom and socialism

I believe the increase in IRS agents was 16k not 61k. The selling across state lines has some risky drawbacks that i wont get into. This bill according to the CBO would actually save billions of dollars.
I would disagree. With more ppl buying into the pools and the hidden fee removed premiums would go down substantially.

If we had a real market system people could afford to buy on the open market and people would not overuse health care. Its a shame that Obama ignores the twisted premise of this third party cartel system. People are not mandated to eat food, but because food is a good, if you are poor you can still get food at very low prices, or go to a church or soup kitchen. We see what happens with food stamps, poor families misuse buying unhealthy food that sends them to emergency rooms for free care

Obama is making our inherit property (our lives) tantamount to acquired property, our cars. We are mandated to buy insurance because in our cars we can injury other peoples lives. Just because of the system is screwed up (a non-free market third party cartel subsidized by government) does not mean Americans should have the right over their inherit property (their life and the health or un-health that comes with it) controlled by government.
