Probably one of my favorite westerns, I LOVE Val Kilmer in this role, he's just CLASSIC. Kilmer was robbed of the Oscars for this role though, he did fantastic.

i never liked doc holiday, i never liked the character, I loved how Val Kilmer portrayed him becasue he portrayed him almost exactly the way i have always hated doc holiday. He is just an oversexed, cocky, arrogant ass, also a murderer and vigilante. in the end though he died of consumption very badly with nothing to his name except his legacy, of crime, murder, and maybe a few heroic deeds but depending on who you ask, becasue he was as criminal as some of the guys he killed.

And yes, the lawmen were often as bad as the criminals. And in many cases, they were one and the same. Indeed, many lawmen were previous criminals that simply moved on to a new area and gained employment as lawmen... or vice versa.
