  • can i create a lan with antenna in order to monitor my property from a distance about 2 km? meaning to hava a pc and camera at my property and another pc at home. can these 2 pcs connected through lan? without paying for internet.

  • @playmay35 sure, but maybe a little expensive, because you won't be using radio technology, lol

  • lol was this b4 802.11 lol!

  • Thats a nice video on the basics :)

  • We know its the basics of connection granny...Its the age of the video. it's classic. This video cannot be denied its place in the pc museum. This is the vid that should greet everyone at the door like at disneyWorld.ppl lock you in the 1st room when you enter the museum & turn out all the lights, then pop on this video b4 you take your tour thru the Hall of pc's.This could be creepier than Mr.Toads ride.LOL!!

  • plz tell me, i have my laptop connected to a router...explain me how the router is connected, how I know which topology it is, how it is LAN and how I know its WAN plz expain me, because i have exam and i am unable to understand.

  • que merda de video é esse?

  • Robots are everywhere

  • manual to grandfather

  • 2:40 "We'll turn on the computer and let it boot... 2:59 while waiting for them to boot." haha

Technology is so advanced nowdays and improves overtime

  • Good basic information for an individual with no network connection experience. New network connection is somewhat different but this video gives them the background information needed.

  • ohh wow the old crt screens everyone uses flat panel now

  • now a days its so easy to hook up internett it only took me 30 minutes but unless if your talkiing about servers then thats a big fucking lode if time it took me 10 hiurs to hook up 8 servers and racks and more

  • WINDOWS ME :') THE FORGOTTEN OS

  • WHAT IS LAN

  • LOCAL AREA NETWORKS

  • @HisHaloness , Local Area Network

  • I hate 7 and Vista

    Xp ftw!!

  • @PCfreak2412 You need to get out of you're closet, windows 7 is the way of the future. Vista is a total fail and xp is just way- way too old for practical use.

  • @bmw2go11

As a field tech that installs anything from cisco systems to avia, xp is still the industry standard. You are right that vista is a huge fail, because of this no one wants to upgrade to 7.

  • lol, "While we "wait" for the computers to boot, we'll setup the cable modem"

  • BITCH

  • I dont see whats so funny... at this time Windows 98 was good. In 10 - 12 years, im sure people with laugh at our Windows 7's and MacBookPros etc.

  • LOL what old

  • lol.. now just turn on the pc and OS do this all automatic with wireless connections

  • collision fail..-.-

  • collisions.. FAIL...

  • I MADE IN 1947

  • haha this is so old, they probably thought they were high tech and badass.

  • The video says, "The hub requieres power.... " THEN ITS NOT A HUB ITS A SWITCH!

  • @cascarrabias13 Hubs require power just as switches and routers do. The difference between a hub and a switch is that in a hub, packets are sent to all nodes connected to the hub. In a switch, the packet is sent directly to the node for which its intended.

  • A Hub? Great idea for a cheap collision domain!

  • Though this is very old, 10BaseT, lol, it is the same principle, networking will not change, sure, new networking technologies will come out but the principle will always be the same!

  • That Video is very Useful to us ..

Can we use your video for our Thesis Study ..

Pls? .. Reply Immediately ..Your Response is very much appreciated ..

  • @vbpeepee Now its "Fucking Windows vista"

  • this is so old man

  • Its a good video for someone who is thinking about making that leap to frys and shelling out some hard earned dough.

  • lol more like five(5) min of work and 200 bucks outa your pocket for a router

  • @potts123ish I paid like £50 for a Linksys WRT54GL router new about 6/7 months ago if your talking about a all in one Modem/Router (the kind used for ADSL) then they will cost more normally like £15/20 more

  • WTHFS? do i need a card in the laptop to? well lol ive got a port like that on the ass end of it anyway.

  • yea thats cus the laptops now are way better then those shitty ones they had making the video...

  • You people are so fucking stupid - it has nothing to do with how old the video or devices are. For a person who is now to the networking environment it is very useful information because while network hardware and architecture has changed. The standards and principles are the same. So stop showing off, we all know you have the latest OS and Hardware.... my Goodness..

  • @markathompson I don't know...people new to networking may think they should use hubs and 10base-T.

  • WTF how old is this the Basics are still there but WTF LOL

  • yay!!! Best Buy yay!!!

  • sounds like Beneath a steel sky kinda voices excellent! how'd u get that voice??!?!

  • wtf, are we in the 70's? whats with this narrator,

  • "Not bad just a few hours work"

How long??? WTF were they pratting about at?

  • a few hours... more like 3 minutes

  • why did the cable modem need that jack??

  • This video is from 1800

  • She sure is pretty, but she was hired for the video with little knowledge. never hold any adapter with your fingers on or in front of the insert face.

  • What a blond, not bad for a coupple hours work....lol! I would of had all that done in 30 min, WTF! Slow blond!

  • the chick is super hot though, is she available to fuck?

  • i saved this link for when i want to fall asleep. thanks for wasting 4:24 minutes of my fucking day, jerk. this is so pathetic lol, how stupid do you have to be?

  • What router is that? Is it cheap?

  • nice video but you NEVER connect a cable modem to power with out the coax cable connected on both ends first espicaly with toshiba modems or you can blow the transmitter in the modem in seconds.

most modems tell you this in the owners manual.

and any experanced user can do the nessary config set up with out any cds .

my network everywhare aka link sys came with a set up cd its still in the box was plug and play if you got a real os above 98 lol i use xp pro

  • you frigging dummy! That wont happen. pfff blow the transmitter if you dont hook up that cable first.

  • wrong its spelld out in bold type in the toshiba install manual.

and i work for a cable co i think i know alot more than you do.

this video girl or not is wrong you never hook up the power for the router or hub untill all connections are plugged in and modem weather dsl or cable is plugged in and powerd up and ready for operation.

  • haha. HOURS? hell no. only minutes for most

  • ToxicMonkeyPiss, "Only minutes for most"

Some networks require remodeling office space or homes. You're the same type of individual that says, "640k ought to be enough for anybody."
