Hey listen.... I just have to say like probably so many others that there are so many pianists out there like myself who have been wishing for so many years to get some professional tuition on how to play jazz piano... I only just discovered you today and I'm extremely happy I did... your tutorials are simply wonderful and I must thank you for having the kindness to share the technique. You really are a great person.. thank you so much :)
Thank you for the great tutorial again! I say "again", because now I can play the entire version of this song. At the first sight it looks hard, but after two days I understand that it's quite simple, but sounds wonderful!
God has obviously given you a tremendous gift. I enjoy your chord voicings. I'd really like to hear what you would do to a gospel/ christian tune. If you find the time please bless me with something in that genre. God bless you!
Buddy, you don't know how much I admire your talent and what you've accomplished in mastering the piano jazz technique. Like you, I have also been unable to study and develop my musical interests due to the need to work for a living, but your videos and blog have inspired me to try to keep on learning. Thanks for your work and videos, you surely have inspired me today!!!
Really awesome. It's awesome how you can hear the jazz in your head, an/or know what will work against the melody. I play the same way, but with your standard chord progressions. It's really hard for me to hear what jazz chords work well in the context. I need some training in it like you! Awesome playing. I also love the Vince Guaraldi-esque ending to this!
hopefully you will make the pdf of this song available with the chord progressions. you do not have to explain why, as your inspiration tells you what to do, but having the chords will really help
This is some really nice piano playing and you obviously know your jazz harmony very well. I wouldn't call this video instructional, though. You walk through the song and attempt to name the chords your using, but you don't do anything to inform the viewer why those chords work in context of the song. Why do these substitutions work and how are they related to the melody. I can analyze chords and name them, where I need help is understanding why these chords work and how to apply elsewhere.
You are a "unquestionable maestro!" I have heard many many people play the keyboard/piano, and i give them their props, BUT YOU ( taking a breath), my hat goes off to you a million times...... YOU ARE AMAZING!!!!!!!! Your chord choices are really sick! GOD BLESS YOU, GOD BLESS YOU!!
An inspirational tutorial. I've never felt up to trying your stuff (re-took up piano 18 months ago after a loooong break) but now I think I am. Many thanks Tom :)
I really enjoyed this video. You are very talented musician. Do you have a midi file of this tutorial? I have some problems following your progressions so fast.
Thank you for taking the time to share your expertise with us!!! Very interesting chords. I think it will take me months to learn. I really enjoy your tutorials!!
Great video. For this tutorial did you happen to use a leadsheet or something similar on which to base your improvisation and changes? If so, if you could post a pdf of it (and perhaps for your tutorials on Misty and Daydream as well) on your website. Seeing what you saw and then interpreting how you make your chord choices I feel would greatly benefit your viewers so we could make similar choices when playing from a leadsheet.
Justin, I didn't use a leadsheet, but I'll look through my books and see if I have one. If anyone else has one, I would appreciate you sending it to me.
7note:should I FAX or copy/scan and send thru Email? I'm not as technically adept to actually post it on YT without a specific instruction...any suggestions?
I,ve been studying so hard for my midterms for tomorrow the day after. So i've been really stressed until i saw this re post. Thanks a million. Now i can learn this song and add it to my Christmas song repertoire
I enjoy the way you play this. Especially when you change the traditional chords! I don't know if you have stated in a previous video, but do you think it is possible to tell me the original chords? I'd appreciate it

jimbomed, If you would like to share your leadsheet, that would be great. I don't have anything in my books. Just send me a message thru YT.

Diggy, I finally found the original and reprocessed it. The digital keys are a bit buggy, but it's pretty easy to work around the few stuck notes.
