  • i dont get it

  • lol only 1 dislike THIS SONG IS REALLY AWSOME!

  • what's the name of the girl in the beggining?

  • @crysis1147852369

She is the british actress, kate steavenson-payne

  • @pv7369 thx

  • @SupportHandbook well the origional inspiration behind the song came to guy when he saw a couple recovering from a drug addiction, he said it was amazing how love really could conquer all.

  • "We got to loose the sax solo!"

  • These lads have been about for a very long time. Finally some recognition....

  • The music is great but the video is very insignifiant

  • does anyone know the name of the actor thats up on the pole? he looks so familiar.

  • Everytime before I sleep I ussually listen this song and it brings me very good memories :)

  • perhaps its a character flaw of mine, but i was into Elbow before their first album came out...and i always consider this my music...so it winds me up when people are into them now ...as i say my fault but im sure most can undersatnd roughly what i mean

  • @SuperStonewaller Yep that's selfish attitude

  • the wonderful music of elbow, and others, has woven itself throughout my life in a most beautiful way and I am grateful to those who create something of such value that all people can share.....

  • so sad :(

  • I've loved this since I saw them in London in early 2001. Asleep in the back is a brilliant album. I feel jealous of you guys hearing them for the first time because I remember the feeling I got when 'Any day now' started. Amazing song from an amazing band. I feel proud to be British when I think of bands like Elbow.

  • @rybekdesign Have you heard of Cherry Ghost? Straight from the heart, like Elbow.

  • The sound at 3:38 is sublime!

  • It's about heroin. "The sunward flight begins..." "I'm proud to be the one you hold when the shakes begin..."

There were also a lot of people on the telegraph poles at the end. Don't know what that means, though... Very powerful and emotional song

  • @06macdonaldsmith sorry, but guy garvey is strictly anit-drugs. said he tried cocaine once and he felt great, but

all his ideas sucked, and he never tried it again.

  • @The4fourEver Yes, but he might have known someone who did

  • it's a really great song :)

  • That was a hell of a car crash to catapult him up that telegraph pole !!!

  • beautiful!

  • I realised that there isn't one song that I don't like by Elbow! On my Ipod, I put artists up, click Elbow, then shuffle and thats it for the day! They are so incredible! I hope they never stop creating this magical music! xx

  • a bit funny the guy made it on top of the pole through a car accident. but great music still!

  • song is about loving someone and standing beside that person no matter what... even when you're in deep shit

video imo is about a man, who loses everything and still has someone completely attached to him, together in his grief and the guy below can't even reach a glimpse of such a love

  • I'd love to know what this song is about, but I adore it all the same:) x

  • @vikicoetsee the song was about ,according to the singer ,was when he was in a bar in Manchester and he noticed the love and care a couple withdrawing from drugs had for each other, He said it was beautiful to see that love can conquer at the most terrible times in ones life.

  • That is such a great song, and the video is really symbolic as well. They go together so great. I'm going to get this cd.

  • Holy crap! i just found out if you pause it 0:00 and press the up and left arrows at the same time, then tap them both again, you get a game of snake on the video! sorry to spam the comments a bit, it was just taking ages to load...

  • This has always been my favourite song by Elbow. I actually think the video goes well with the song.

  • so peacefull (:

  • I think the guy in the suit is Death. He realizes he's arrived for no reason as love keeps them alive. Just a thought.

  • Video makes absolutely no sense - but that's the beauty of it! And I could listen to this song on my death bed...pure musical poetry!!!

  • @stevegeek Dtto

  • Guy has such a nice voice, I can listen to him for hours and hours!

  • @KLee0777 Every day when i go to work i listen on my Mp5 to Elbow, so that's for hours and hours and hours

    LOVE THIS SONG

  • awesome

  • might be a good song to play in a music video with scenes from the movie "powder."

  • that´s very goog song but anyone know why this video it´s kind of crazy

  • Reminds me a little of pink floyd

  • Yeah.. definitely seems to be some Floyd influence in there. I just discovered this band a few months ago and I'm blown away. The American music scene is dull compared to the bands that the Brits are turning out over the last 5 years or so.

    Elbow is amazing.

  • @Vetrlz07 Us Brits like to plough our own path. Music comes first, the rest is unimportant.

  • @Vetrlz07 I don't know if that's entirely fair. There are some great bands in North America currently. They just don't get media attention the way some crowd favorites do.

But yes, as a recent Elbow convert, I have to agree they are powerful and unique.

  • @Vetrlz07 the american music scene has been dull since led zepplin disbanded

  • @Vetrlz07 and maybe some radiohead here :)

  • @Vetrlz07

You know, I feel where you're coming from...

But you made this comment and then the Red Hot Chili Peppers released a new album. That kind of kills the argument.

  • @CAMxman5 The Chillis have sucked ass for a while now...

  • @CAMxman5 fuck Peppers. that album wasn't as good as I hoped.

  • just close your eyes ... & dream !

  • please reupload, video got corrupted.

  • ARGH! Whats up with this AV track?

  • @teekey28 it was directed by an english threesome called two big eyes. i know this because i work with two of them now at a company they started called bigballs films..
