not bad.. 600 yards with open sights or a ACOG? there must have been alot of wind tho..
and for ThaoVaMinh you will only notice accuray change when you heat the barrel if you are trying to shooting 1" groups at 200 yards.. And even when I shoot fast with my AR at 200m I hit the bull 9 out of 10 times..
it only seems so because the camera is just beind the shooter, thus you see the bullet quite clearly. the bullet is travelling at the exact same speed as the other rounds, the slowing down is just a thing of relativity.
If it hit near the edge, the bullet will just be deflected. It's funny how stuff behaves at high velocities. It could even have penetrated the wood, then bounced off the ground behind it. Not easy to tell.
We were out there camping, so I went out and found the biggest tree I could find that was laying on the ground and cut that up. It was a spur of the moment thing.
Thank you, kewl vid...loved the tracers! Looking out it does not seem like 656 yards, was a video cam zoomed in all the way???

Does anyone know if tracer rounds have a different bullet trajectory than non-tracer rounds?
abdur88 3 years ago
no difference in flight charachteristics between tracer and non-tracer rounds. the phosphorous burning off the bullet just lets you see where it is.
Tecateracer 3 years ago
actually there is quite a difference because the tracer round loses weight as it burns. i may be wrong though.

Seems you were shooting rather fast. The heat on that barrel must have seriously hindered the accuracy.

It's an ar-15 i doubt it, its not a hunting rifle, its a civilian version of the m-16

I hunt with my AR all the time! Took both my deer, bunches of squirrels/rabbits (with a .22 kit), and I hunt predators all year with one.

it's the lag time of the tracer that makes it seem like its moving slow. Believe me, it's hauling no less ass than non-tracer rounds.

how come th tracer rounds seem to be arcing in at 45 degrees and slow??? sorry i dont shoot

we use clay pigeons at 600 for targets..nothing hard about that stump.

why did the tracer round just ricochet off? I thought it would have penetrated a tree even at that range.

good enough to drop a guy at 600 yards.

Get a steel plate alot easier to call hits with especially when you're shooting the non-tracer rounds.
