Sorry but most of us Europeans really don't understand why two profit generating, tax paying citizens can't have a civil marriage. The Christian Church has a problem with us which is OK (but very confused thinking if you isolate Christ's actual words from the commentary of his followers - he did after all come to give us new laws from the Old Testament ones). It just seems so Land of the Free to champion these rights. Sorry but you rejected State Religion over personal rights...

Now that Obama is coming into office, we need to pressure him to begin supporting gay marriage. It's not enough to simply oppose a ban- it is time for him to publicly support equal rights for all citizens. Obama's words about his support for "separate but equal" civil unions are not the words of an ally. It's time to take action to get Obama to stand with us for equal rights!
