I think the reason they changed some of the lyrics was because in the original there are references to Abbe Lane ( sort of the J-lo of her day in the 50s) & Chichicastenangeo which is in Guatemala & I don't think a lot of people in the 90s would pick up on the references.

@vidsbyseon I guess stereotypes offend some people. I am Spanish from Spain and I am totally non-stereotipically Spanish. I usually don't care (I mean, there's stereotypes about everyone and no one with half a brain expects all Japanese to be Ninjas or all Americans to be Hillbillies or anything like that). It's only annoying when someone insists that you should be able to dance flamenco, as if it was ingrained in your genes. Or when they tell you you're too white and hazel-eyed to be Spanish.

@EscuchaYcalla The whole point of the song is that the future mother-in-law is so stupid that she thinks all of those stereotypes from various cultures are true of all Spanish speaking people. This closed mindedness and prejudice is only one in a long list Rose has against this woman. The song is basically making fun of all people who think that way. It isn't agreeing with them. It's the opposite.
