  • earth science is the best

  • @ 1:40 .... Yeah!! Stomp on that bitch!!!

  • XD

  • Everything multiplies itself. The same way hexadecimal (binary code) works and how our computer hardware has been progressing.

    2 - 4 - 8 - 16 - 32 - 64 - 128 - 256 - 512 - 1024 etc.

  • booooooooooooooooooooooooooring please kill me. why do you stupid scientist have to complicate everything

  • @itsfunnylikethat

na maybe you are just a dumb shit

  • @itsfunnylikethat For smart people to watch something interesting, if you don't get something so easy, basic and simple and you find it boring, kid, perhaps you should study more or get you IQ tested...

  • clap clap clap

  • the world is an enigma of the pardadox of embafflement . the truth is to be found .

  • cool

  • Or Human being should not exist on to this planet ? ( included you and me ? )

  • Thx

  • "Our Planet" , a place of wonder, water landscapes

Moving water and circulating air - Hey I can do the same thing

  • 5/5! Awesome Video! It really makes you think about other planets too!

  • I wonder what will happen wen we fallout from bed and wake up!?

  • if u want to LEARN watch & dont judge trekie01

  • This stuff is retardedly cool.!!

  • this reminds me of doe's account. simply amazing. google it.

  • If u think of this clip clearly, it actually is the amazing combination of different fields of experts - biologist, scientist, 3D graphic designer, computer programmer, physicist, of course most importantly media which is playing in front of u !!!!

  • did the world really evolve? it is very interesting how science presents the world. i believe there is much to know about evolution. the world is a mystery. science do make sense to me sometimes though!

  • cool video, thanks..........and my 6 year old loves it too

  • In the opening, Earth is rotating in the wrong way;)

  • They're geologes not astronomists.

  • Doesn't matter, when you study geo sciences you ought to know this kind of stuff. you know like the moon is orbiting the Earth and Earth orbits the Sun...

    ;)

  • Good observation!

  • it's all relative :D

  • @geomexp lol your funny

  • @geomexp It is an old modell, it is from before he pole shift ! HA

  • @geomexp maybe the camera is moving not the earth 0_o

  • @geomexp or maybe the camera is moving faster than the earth so relative to the camera the earth appears to be moving the wrong way. physics 101

  • @geomexp lol :) that MAY be for dramatic effect!

  • @geomexp Of course as there are no stars in the opening sequence you don't have a reference frame to be sure that we are not simply orbiting the Earth faster than it is itself rotating.

  • nice!!!

  • oh ! that's all a lie !!!! every one knows that the earth is flat and it is support it in space by a infinite column of turtles !!!!! LOL !!!!

  • @trekie01 lol isnt an slephant and a snake helping too!

  • @trekie01 true true

  • @trekie01 Actually they are an ancient breed of tortoises from planet Dagobah.

  • @trekie01 Finally somebody who knows science

  • Wow. This makes me want to study earth science. It's so fascinating.

  • Did you know oxygen eventually kills us? Perhaps it's a good thing we are taking care of that silent killer! Hooray for air pollution. ;)

  • but if you take oxygen from the air now, you change it from a silent killer to an instant killer.

  • And if you take a sense of humor out of a person you have...

  • when will humans grow brains?

  • i love earth

  • Science is our rapture and our doom as well. keep that in mind my fellows. earth is our space to live in, so enjoy our short trip!! god...evolution...apes...us...

  • Did anyone else notice that at the beginning of the video, Earth is spinning backwards? I'm not the only one who noticed that, right?

  • "How the World Works" reminiscient eh? It could be assumed the camera was panning around the Earth or something. But yes, that was the wrong way.

  • Science is awesome!

Although I have no interest in being a scientist myself, I like reading-about/watching science-type stuff.

  • I don't know such frivolous movie.

  • I was blinded by science!

    Excellent video.

  • why are so many graphics of the earth not spinning in the right direction?

it really damages ones credibility as an authority on something when they dont know the most basic aspects of the subject!

    god!

it is like claiming to be an electrition yet not knowing how to change a lightbulb!

  • the link is fascinating!will explore it more in depth later...thanks ffreethinker!

  • Thank the Flying Spaghetti Monster for geo-scientists.

  • excellent work!

  • I see it

    all this in quraan

    I am cry

  • Another awesome video, thank you FFreethinker

  • Comment removed

  • geoscientists also make a shitload of money:/

  • Great!

  • Sehr beeindruckend gemacht, danke

  • give it up for earth science woot!

  • Lulu, you have no idea how irrelevant movies like Expelled are. Intelligent people dissected this movie long ago. Scientists say the Earth is billions not because they hate God, or Christians, but because that's what the Earth tells us when we study it. The Bible never had the first say in anything by the way. Go read the creation stories of the Babylonian and Sumerian cultures that came long before the Bible. Your story is plagiarized, and you live in a (comfortable) fantasy world.

  • Lulu4Him, please fuck off with your religious bullshit, you creepy idiot.

  • cornflake, I see you are showing your intellect; low that is. Any person who can't think of decent words to say should just remain quiet. "If you can't say some thing good, don't say anything at all". You really should take this good ole' saying to ~

  • @Lulu4Him - Yeah sometimes it's pretty difficult to imagine how things worked out in the past when you grow up as a practicing Catholic.

  • Actually, that's one thing I have to give the Catholics, when it comes to things like astronomy and geology, they are forward looking (there is even a Vatican observatory and astronomer), and they do officially accept evolution, but where they fail is with human related biology, such as stem cell research.

  • They're only forward thinking *now* because they can't lynch scientists anymore. You think they wouldn't put Dawkins under house arrest for the remainder of his life if they still had the power to do so? In a heartbeat.

  • I was practicing catholic.

I grew and learned about sciences.

    I am now atheist.

Most of the catholics I know don't give a fuck about their own religion.

  • "It is a real eye opener!"

Yes it is - I was particularly surprised that Stein was that stupid, as I had always taken him to be of the more intelligent breed of human. It also opened my eyes to the ever-lowering levels of crappy film Hollywood will fund.

I think they should use that film to interrogate prisoners in Guantanamo. After two or three runs through it I can't think of a single person who would not crack and spill the beans.

  • A religious debate on a geology video?! Just shut up until "he" cums. . .

  • Well, tell Him that He's late. He promised to be here about... 2000 years ago.

Oh, We've heard that He will come, pretty much every year, but just empty promises and we are waiting for Him.

Well. If He thinks I'll be waiting for Him to start dinner, He has another thing comming. I bet He already had a burrito on His way here.

  • But he already did come back a second time, didn't he? I mean the Mormons have holy text indicating that he came to the Americas after his supposed death in the Middle East....still I don't feel that I am wrong...

Perhaps you meant that when he comes back for a third time, right?

Also, if I see a picture of him on my French toast does it count as a return?

  • If jesus comes then there would finally be evidence of his existance and then I would believe he exists. He'd still have a LOT of explaining to do before I'd worship him but I'd give him a chance to explain it.

But clearly everyone is childish for not seeing the obvious splender of the FSM, his presence is everywhere and everytime his noodly appendage affects the outcome of an experiment I revel in his glory, peace be upon the FSM.

  • RAmen!

  • Stein is amazingly dumb. He's probably still calling out Buehler's name....

  • Expelled was nothing but a useless, whiny snuff film. It presented no argument, gave no evidence, but made plenty of baseless assertions, most of which there were other reasons for completely independent of the movies theme.

Like the guy that got fired because he FORGED a document he wanted 'peer reviewed', but didn't actually want to submit, so submitted it by subverting the peer review system. Then suddenly he was fired for "being a creationist." BS, he was fired for cheating the system.

  • Same old "believe like me or else" doom'n'gloom nonsense.

I had my head in that sand the first 21 years of my life. I thank everyone that inspired me to pull it out and look around at the real world. YOU can live your death cult for fear of some mythical ending, the rest of us aren't interested anymore.

  • I agree DeadlyChinchilla =D

  • @DeadlyChinchilla Atheists are just as evangelically retarded as fundie Christians. Stop being so smug.

  • @SanguineBullet667

LOL you are stupid, creationist retard by any chance?

  • @gorilla199uncensored Definitely not, I accept Evolution.

  • yet our planet is still so fucked up.

  • The world is pretty darn spiffing. Im assuming then that you are not a young earther?

  • Yes, all praise Zeus, I mean Yahweh, I mean Allah, I mean Elohim, I mean the flying spaghetti monster, I mean Horus, I mean Shiva...

Honestly why do people look at reality and trace it back to their predisposed beliefs based upon ancient scribblings of people claiming to represent a deity rather than examining the evidence to come to a rational conclusion?

  • It's too bad he was so busy mixing colors and balancing out hues he never got a chance to provide enough food for everyone. Over 1 million people are hungry, 1 child dies every 5 seconds from hunger. But there's your god, mixing hues and getting the contrast just right lol

  • ack! oops i meant 1 billion people are hungry

  • 4:39 is that the morning glory pool at yellowstone? cuz that thing is sweet. i've been there, but it looks smaller than that.

  • not if you can't stop global waming and religions and pollution. oops , and a big asteroid called satan ! hehe , thanks great vid.

  • Awesome video and fantastic visuals! As a geoscience major, I approve this message. =]

  • Very interesting video. 5 stars and favourited.

  • "quietly changing over time" ?

How did they know it was quiet ?

If an asteroid slams into the earth and no one is there to hear it, does it make a sound ?

  • @PrivateSlacker I know you posted your comment not too long ago,it does make a sound, but since theres none to hear it (life after people kinda),it'll still make a sound but none is around.

  • nice production values!

  • I'm starting to see the concepts of Peter Joseph and Jacque Fresco in more and more media these days. Just yesterday I was watching people in congress were talking about national health care as being the first of many a step toward an ultimate goal.

People becoming more environmentally and sociologically conscientious is a beautiful thing.

  • To make this video creation friendly, simply mute the sound and blast Christian music in the background. A song with God, Jesus, Glory, Satan, Evil, or Sin in the lyrics and you are good to go.

  • Amazing video! I bet it scares the hell out of creationists!

  • WhyNot?

  • So much has happened in the past 6012 years. JK :)

  • It's like somebody pressed the fast forward button

  • must be so frustrating for them when people think the earth is 4000 years old.

  • Oh that's just silly! It's neither 4000 nor 4000k years old... everyone knows it's 6000 years, right? ;-)

  • woot for geological time!

  • All right, I'm always prepared to do my part to negate the votebots.

    There you are; Five stars.

  • Invaluable!!

  • ,,,,,,,,,,,

  • 2:49 I SPOTTED A LESBIAN :O HAWT

  • Umm. The Earth is rotating the wrong way.

  • Fuck dude I thought it was just me..

  • lol at least they got it right further in the vid.

  • on my screen, this video has 801 ratings, and 300 views, how does that work?

cant explain it, must have been God....

  • Magic dude... Magic

  • No, it was the FSM!!!

    Ramen!

  • I've posted that question several times on YouTube. People keep telling me that they update at different rates.

  • The view and rating system are run by seperate SQL servers, they dont update at the same time.

    Please think before you speak.

  • man, I am getting thumbs down an everything, I was joking. I am Atheist, I free thinker always makes atheist videos, I thought this crowed would get it.

  • Damn, this video almost makes me wish I had studied geology.

  • Is this for primary school children?

The visuals are very good but the narration is obnoxiously simplistic.

  • My guess would be "Yes"...but I am definately sure it's for as much as even adults...

Because you know as well as I do that (at least) someone out there didn't understand most of the video...

  • This video makes me glad I choose to be a Geology Major

  • i like that when he's saying "geoscientists investigate the earth" they're showing a clip of a guy just jumping on the earth.

    lol.

cool video, should be on the Discovery Channel.

  • talk about a hands on science :)

its a great field if you really want to get into the element of research, study and work

you get lots of fresh air and your on the front lines of educating people about the mother of us all, Earth.

  • earth looks so much cooler as a fiery inferno.

  • i agree, quite amazing.

  • Pretty silly of us humans to devote an entire branch of science to our small planet. Geoscience still rocks, though.

  • was that a pun? (the 'geoscience rocks ' bit)

  • Yes, it was :). I wonder if most people saying that realize it.

  • I trust that the 103 comments below have nothing to do with this quite benign video.

  • I smell trolls, also, I still want to be a biologist

  • Comment removed

  • Woo! Geoscience rocks!

  • Says the guy that's typing on a computer made possible by science...stop feeding the matrix man, go out into the desert and free your mind =P.

  • Lol, I seriously hope this comment was satirical, the matrix, what you think your reality is fabricated?

  • Comment removed

  • wonder how long does we have on this planet before religious people blow everything up hoping to go to "another llife".

  • we have as long as it take them.. something we must prevent them from doing.

  • So true, I've just seen another religiously motivated hate message. Sometimes I despair.

  • Well, if 09-09-09 is an upside down 666, apparently not long, cause thats today. Stupid religious fanatics hijacking Mexican planes... *sigh*

  • was that religiously motivated?

  • They think so. Something about the upside down 666 being a "Devils Day" or something fanatical and completely ridiculous like that.

Every person on that plane is probably lucky to be alive. Hopefully there was some thread of human decency in those men that made them stop.

  • ...nice

  • I'm an Earth Science student in university! XD

I'm so excited! I just love geology!

  • Oh...this is such a beautiful video!!!

It just reminds me of our holy bable and one particular scripture pops to mind..

"Verily verily I say unto thee that the FSM so loved the world that he sent his only begotten son, Tortellini (pbuh), to die in boiling salty water for that all men will fear no famine nor death" John 3:4

and you cannot forget: "The only way to FSM is through Tortellini (pbuh)" Mark 6:9

I pray he touches u by his ever loving noodly appendage in Tortellini's name.RAmen

  • rAmen

  • BLASPHEMER. Reformist Pastafarians claiming that Tortellini is the the son of FSM. For it is written in Matt 1:23 "Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Ravioli (sauce be upon him), which being interpreted is, FSM with us."

Repent that ye may be once again touched by his noodly appendage and see the beer volcano and strippers in paradise. RAmen.

  • Very cool....thanks for the upload...peace be with.

  • Earth is overrated.

Now Europa, that's the real deal!

  • Why don't you lot just check out Karadan100's profile before commenting. His comment is merely a spoof..

  • Space science is much more interesting and fascinating. All you study in Earth science class is the types of rocks, dating methods and boring details about the atmosphere

  • very ture but a wise man said learn to walk(learn about the earth) before you try hard to fly(u can guess)

  • Nature's rule Danielsan. Not mine.

    Mr. Miyagi.

  • At the grade school level, sure

  • I really hope your not serious...

  • uh????

    o_O

science have done nothing to us???

how about medicine? transportation, the incredible advances on food productions...

and how about your stupidity??? you are using a Computer and the internet to post that comment.... thats the product of science...

    oh... and a little tip...

there is no god, thats all fairy tales...

  • So, since you can't disprove ANY God, you worship and believe in them all?

  • Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence

    -Carl Sagan

  • If you do become a scientist you will see why we don't need a god and why we don't have one.

  • Yeah since you can't disprove any god, then surely you must take seriously my belief in Qwerty the God of Keyboard Shortcuts and Drink Spilages. If you pray to her, she will ensure most verily that your keybaord is saved. Mac is the evil one though.

  • die heretic worship nova edge and it's waterproof ness LOL!

  • you can't disprove god or any other supernatural claim, you can't disprove that the random idea that it's not gravity that attacts matter to matter, it's the flying spaghetti monster doing it.

What's important is what's believable based upon the evidence, not arguments from ignorance, assumptions and the whole 'well you can't disprove it" as those are the antithesis of science.

  • the flying spaghetti monster is bosssss.

    :D

  • this is a joke right? in reality science has done everything and god still hides behind a rock where no one has found him.

  • It's a pity Youtube's sanity-to-lunacy ratio is so low that it makes sarcasm impossible to discern from true idiocy.

  • I like that :)

I wasn't being serious. I just wanted to see how many rational people are left on YT.. Quite a lot, thankfully.

That, and i just couldn't resist baitin'...
