But you have to remember that Nanoha and Fate's relationship is 100% canon and you have to accept that, it's what the author chose and there are so many people who love nanoha and fate as a pairing, their relationship was just too strong for them to just be good friends.

Even in the first series, they are more than friends, less than lovers type.

Let's see, I'm in a western country, first of all. It's like how people in a lot of other countries other than Japan define anime as "cartoons or animation that originated in Japan." In Japan (and possibly other countries as well) anime is defined as all types of animation. At least that's what I've heard. You get a sticker for straying away from the main topic.

It 's just that for two seasons (I've only watched the first, I'm assuming the second is the same minus the battles) they've only been best friends. I found their friendship to be pretty cute. It's not sudden, it's a well developed relationship founded in mutual feelings and caring for each other that through the 3 animated seasons progress as the years pass by, until the point of portraying them as a happy mature family with a daughter which love them.
