the only reason people arent in the streets & families up in arms over this was is because there isn't a draft. The soilders being killed volenteered to serve our country. What is forgotton about is the # of innocent iraqi civilians killed or tortured because of this war which is anywhere from 10 to 20 TIMES as many US forces killed! These are people just like you & me. They're not subhuman, they're in no way less of a person or than any single American.

All too often this is forgotton...

I stand corrected, I am coming from a time, and place where things were different. I have two college age children now....and as a product of the 70's things are not even close to that. Yes, I will agree that Bush/Cheney, are a disaster and I will for sure be willing to lay lots of blame at their feet. And....I guess we have to blame the parents of today's youth (myself included) for the lack of....well..... interest?

Excellent questions. Partly: (1) A major disconnect from questioning promoted (manipulated) realities. Thus, the standing/rising/revolting of the 60's is beyond their empathy. (2) Commercialization by the Media of every aspect of our lives.

During the covert wars of the eighties, the neo-cons learned a new trick: The "Support our troops" slogan.

This in reference to the hippies spitting on, and otherwise insulting the soldiers returning from Nam.

In other words: If you're not FOR the war, you're AGAINST the troops. The perfect way to silence the opposition.

One could easily imagine those who are responsible for eroding the populace's confidence to this level as high-fiving each other over champagne (- then joining in prayer to give thanks for guidance - most of them unaware that the one guiding their success from the beginning is/was from the darkest of separated origins).
