  • you can lay me

  • do u like musicians

  • The key to keeping your job is to love it. If you don't love your job....who cares if you get laid off? Live on unemployment for awhile while finding a job you do love.

  • fight the dragons...lol

  • Welcome to the state of life of the common wage-slave.

  • Welcome to the Plutocratic States of America.

  • work sucks my supervisor is a cunt

  • Oh wow, I was thinking of something totally different when I read the title of this video. I guess I have a dirty mind. Hehe.

  • "Interesting when money is involved" I wouldn't have used the word interesting myself, I'd have sworn.

  • Wow.. petite little blond! I worked for a campany with an HR manager that fit that description. We referred to her as "Black Cloud". When you hear her voice on the phone and it starts with "... are you sitting down..." You know what is coming next. I was laid off while on vacation, over the phone no less!

  • i hear you there, the company i work for is laying of a huge number of people, im one of them, all cause of the price of oil !!! oh and not cause the price was high, but cause it dropped.

  • i'll lay you alright.

  • lol

  • that person was such an ass that just sayed that, why do people waste time Trying to put others down, I THINK UR CUTE;)

    send me a message

  • You should really be a trainer or something, you've got the motivation and the desire to care about other people's appearance. You could turn that into something very positive and lucrative for yourself. Good luck.

  • you should be a story writer

  • I happen to think she is cute, creative, talented and intelligent. You, on the other hand vibrion, conjures up in my mined a vision of a person of malcontent, spite, jealousy, ignorance, self-loathing ugliness.

  • i like your lipgloss color!:D

  • It's a job for fuck's sake. No job, no money, no computer, no video blog, no gay stuff. You need money. You need a job.

  • ...I have a job, and I have money. I wasn't even remotely concerned about my computer or my vlog.

  • I understand your concerns. I used the term 'You' more in a general context than anything personal.

  • I like the baby hat pic. Outstanding. I wrote a song called "go f@#$ yourself". Perhaps I will send it your way when I get a chance. Hang in at work. If anything, let it motivate your creative side and perhaps start a business of your own.

  • Did u ever think the job u have might not last forever.Thats with any job. What do u expect. If u dont like it ,open your own buisness.I did.Theres a million things u can do.Stop acting like a baby.

  • very brave of you to broadcast your personal thoughts like this.. and the baby picture is so cute...! was that writing on there or was it put on there later...? who put that on there? funny...

  • ur eyes are too much to look at.....

  • (((((((thinkmorepink)))))))) thanks for one of the most awesome, honest and refreshing vids I have ever seen on u-tube. It's a privilege to see the real you.

  • yes i know waiting to looses you job is devestating. i mean sitting in you position is very difficult, but it what they have to do saddly. i know you wont loose you job, you seem like a very hard worker. relax.... if it happens it happens, so just make them know that you are here and you are worth keeping.

  • well you have to think.... yeah if it involved your JOB then i would be saying the same stuff those people were. look, you could be thrown on the streets because of losing that job... and yes i agree about the laying off... but i dont think the people turning on each other is neccessarily disgusting.. theyre just relieved you know? but i do love the video

  • the song didn't match but it's great :)

  • yeah cheesy and pretty funny really. totally killed the mood she was trying to create.

  • I really liked seeing this video. I love your attitude. Life can be scary and unpredictable. And some things that we have no contorl over are the biggest things that would effect our life. I hope you are able to keep your job. And please keep making videos. I and many other people enjoy watching them. Thanks for your workds of insperation! Good Luck!

  • I just saw this video. I am so sorry to learn about these layoffs. If worst-comes-to-worst you can use me as a reference.

  • you are soo awesome! Your videos helped me thru many many rough times!!

  • that so true all you can do is prepare you are soo right

  • thanks this was a good vid to watch on new years

hope all is well with your job

  • ahaha you were so cute little, and yer hat?did yer perents know?lol.

    Adorable.

  • it is disgusting :-p

  • I believe in you

    =)

    You have inspired me

    and given me strength

and I wish you the best of luck

  • Horrible distorting times. I hope what remains is preservable, and that you stay safe. Thinking of you x

  • Lay offs are so stressfull :( Even if you get to keep your job. We've had a lot in my hometown as well.

    Btw. Love the hat ;o)

  • Just dropping by a hug and a casserole!

    Love You!

    Jolene Sugarbaker

    The Trailer Park Queen

  • If you duck, you wont be able to see the possibilities behind the rock they'll throw at you, so walk with your head up high!

  • I know the fear, I have it as well, although I quit my job four years ago. I worked at a bank, for 8 Years, and I was so disgusted with me having to lie to that many persons, that I got sick of myself. Since then I study something completely different, and I love it, although I am done with my exams in march. I know what I want to do afterwards, but I have no idea how to reach it.

    But really, never duck!

  • I just subscribed to your, um, 'channel'--is that the correct word? You know, you are a great talent, and you should not be working for anyone. You should be self-employed. I don't know your strengths, but you seem to be a very strong, talented person.

  • I'm a fairly new subscriber, but from what I've seen You are amazingly talented. Whatever happens at your present day job your talent will help you land on your feet. Good luck to you and the rest of us that are being effected by this situation.

  • I really appreciate your videos. You're in my thoughts, and I wish you the best.

  • Dont Care? Wrong. I do care.

It is hard to trust when you have been betrayed. A lot of companies say they care about their employess. They dont. They care about the bottom line and will stab you in the back as quick as they will look you in the face if they think it will save them money. Been there enough times to know better.

    My best wishes to you

  • Stay strong!

  • Money is one symbol of power in this world...

  • aw thats sad... i hope you dont lose your job... D:

  • Shan, what happened today at work??

  • they let one person go, and now I'm the only one left in the company who can do my job. I'm happy for now, but I feel sorry for the person they let go.

  • I meant in the location I'm in, not in the company, sorry

  • Yeah, what an uncomfortable feeling that must be. You're happy for yourself but sorry for the one who wasn't so fortunate. Its good to know you're not self-absorbed and thinking only of yourself at this time. That is one true test of character.

I'm very glad you avoided the axe today and being the only one who can do your job is, of course, a good position to be in. :)

  • Life can be a real SOB sometimes eh? My ribs still hurt from the last boot stomping it gave me.

  • Well, content yourself with the fact that none of this will matter in a hundred years.

  • I don't know how you can be so positive...LOL But you're such a wonderful person. I really hope you don't lose your job sweetie. I wish you the best of luck.

  • I'd hire you, Shan...if you lived in my area.

  • Very scary times we're living in right now. No one feels secure. I think it's great you're getting prepared and redoing your resume and all that. Chin up.

  • Stay strong, keep focused girl, wise words of encouragement. My husband was with the company he worked for long as 7 1/2 years, we are managing and getting through after he was layed off. Perseverence and pushing forward. You're in my thoughts Shan. Love You.

  • Grumpychuck is right, and learning new things is the only protection we have in times of crisis. Like love wounds, loosing your job is quite depressing but rarely lethal. Take care !

  • there is no spoon

  • You are not your job. The change might seem daunting, but it is amazing how frequently people will later reflect on a job loss and exclaim loudly, "That was the best thing that ever happened to me." The day after Sophie B. Hawkins was fired by Bryan Ferry, she wrote her worldwide hit "Damn I Wish I Was Your Lover." You are more resourceful than you imagine.

  • Sorry hon, been there with several start-up companies & two corporations. 8o(

1:19 + Usually the same vultures are picking clean the corpse's cube or office. They're an inspiration for the ways I wouldn't choose to be.

1:32 + Seen family feuds start over twenty dollars.

Fin If you can fail, then why ever try? A coward dies a thousand deaths, a soldier only dies once.

The only advice I have , if you want it, is renewable resources & tactile assets also supplement with capital & a network.

  • Not all companies are the same. But for me it has been very clear in most places I worked at that the friendlyness was just superficial and that everybody on the job including fellow employees meant business (thats how it should be I guess). When I was young I was astounded at how management would lie and mask things for the corporation. But then later on I realized that was their job. That is why they were payed. The game is they want YOUR deep trust and loyalty. But their loyalty is NOT to you

  • For me I guess recognizing this fact never made me a "warm" employee. I realized the necessity for false fronts in business in order to lubricate the wheels of industry but when I was working I always tried to be polite and dutifull but always staying de-tached emotionally from others. This was my way of dealing with the work environment

  • There's a lot of people pulling for you right now. That's got to have a positive effect on your outlook. :} Good things happen to good people. Really.

  • Good things happen to bad people and bad things happen to good people. Think of all the pithy aphorisms on the subject, like: "the good die young," and, "Nice guys finish last."

  • Actually, if you look up "pithy" you'll find it to mean "precise and meaningful". Although I didn't intend my remark to be "precise and meaningful", I was trying to put a positive spin on her situation by altering the original quotation slightly. :)

  • good luck!

  • You deserve better than this...To be honest a lot of people deserve better right now. Of course, best of luck...And I hope you don't have survivor's guilt if they don't do it to you. The rich get richer and the rest of us try to survive.

BTW I'm afraid that if I try to pull myself up by my boot straps, I might accidentally hang myself with them

    Again, best of luck! ;0)

  • Shan...I realize what I'm about to say to you might mean nothing right now and hopefully it will mean everything later on, but you're already one step ahead...you have a great attitude.

I was laid off, a number of years ago, from a job I put my heart and soul into for 15 years as a graphic artist and sometimes photographer. I stepped back and asked myself "What are my talents? What can I offer people?". That layoff turned out to be the best thing that ever happened in my work life.

  • I then further developed my photography skills, as well as teaching myself webmastering, so I could offer a complete package to small businesses. I lived cheap for quite awhile, even hungry sometimes.

I now work for one boss, myself...I give my clients what they need, a no hassle soup to nuts image-website-catalog-flyer package.

With some thought and vision, and as you've stated, no panic, things like what you're going thru can be turned around.

    I'M WISHING YOU THE BEST!

  • Aww Shan! I am so sorry you are going through this right now. We have lost over 70% of the staff where I work, its devastating. The work loads become impossible and peoples true character comes out when money is tight. I work directly with our financier, he has changed into something I would never believe. *hugs* I hope today went better for you. You're always welcome to move out in the woods with me and grow veggies :) Take care!

  • You have a unique way of thinking! I like!

  • Damn it, Shan. You had to mention Bill Cosby, and for the entire rest of the video I kept imagining him with little petite blond women and you talking about the Jello Pudding Pops. :(

  • i would really like to give you a hug right now

  • Always live safely (from a financial standpoint). It's important for the rainy days like now. Oh, and thinkmorepink.

  • A lot of people are losing their jobs right now. Our economy is only bound to get worse. Its not only here in the US but abroad as well. Just hang in there and make sure you have some food and stuff stored up. Peace

  • I care.

My parents are also having troubles at work.

Though they haven't been fired yet, many have.

Depression part 2 here we come.

    Take care Shan.

  • Did you lose your job? Join the military. They need more disposable soldiers for their war on freedom.....i mean terror. Or you can stay home and fight the criminals that have hijacked your country.

  • I've been laid off several times and I've had several business ventures that failed miserably. Things will get better only if you stay positive and never give up.

  • I care about you! :)

    Good luck *huggle*

  • I went through this in 2003. I tried to rationalize why I was saved at first, then why I was chosen later. Then I realized that management is irrational, so why would it make sense? The company went bust in 2005. I didn't adjust well at first - I felt and looked like a loser. I let my job define me and having a family to support didn't help. After numerous interviews, I finally realized what I wanted to do and that I was a valuable person. Keep that chin up.

  • The title of the video led me to believe you were talking about something else.

Ugh, I'm really glad I work for the federal government. We're in for really rough times.

  • I hope you keep your job!! P.S you are like my therapist, you help me through everything!! So I don't need one now.

  • <3

    A random girl

    in Canada

    cares about you.

    A lot.

    <3

  • Loosing ones job at this time in the economy is very terrifying.

  • Please keep us updated as to what happens, there are always those who care, or are even just curious. I think one who can carry themselves so well should be able to find alternative employment, if necessary, though hopefully it wont. Peace, BMS1974.

  • I hope everything works out for the best and you can keep your job. Also nobody can be brave all the time but you are still being brave by Updating ur Resume and deciding to keep going so good job Shan and I hope everything works out for the best.

  • One problem with our system is that business doesnt see us as real people. We are just commodities like corn and oil. I dont know how to fix this but it needs to be fixed.

"You can easily judge the character of a man by how he treats those who can do nothing for him."

    ~James D. Miles

  • I think a possitive mind set is one of the things we need to pull ourselves out of this recession. Good job at helping us remember that.

  • hey Shan, I hope the cuts are over now adn you are still there. This sort of thing is difficult. take care.

  • We a third of our crew about a month ago. Cut back on everything from health care to the number of hours we work. It's a strange feeling to be at work after so many have been "let go." Even worse is knowing that there is so little work to do we could do it all with even fewer people. I am not updating my resume I am sharpening and expanding my skill set. Good luck woman.

  • I care dear. :-) These are the things that so many people are going through even more so now with our collapsing economy. You are not alone. All you can do is keeping going and, like you said you can only be prepared and be ready for anything. Stay strong babe. You have people out here that love you and will help you if you need it. Its how we get by....together.

    <3<3<3

  • Corporate Stockholm Syndrome

  • I got axed back in November, so I know exactly where you're coming from.

  • A real person, with real fears,..... and real beauty as well.

  • When people don't have the strength to trimph over one dragon they turn to other to help fight the battle. If your company lay's you off they'd be foolish you can hear how much you care about your job you have tons of dedication and an amazing heart. Also I love that hat it's hilarious.

    -Adam

  • You have shown in your videos and in this one that you are strong, brave and intelligent woman. Your strength of character, to realise that if, and I hope not, you are laid off, it will not be because of your job performance, but yet to keep your chin up, to empathise for your unfortunate colleagues, and to prepare for the worst will see you get through.

Thank you for your bravery and honesty in sharing this with us.

  • Best wishes girl!

  • I hope everything turns out for the best.

  • Indeed ★★★★★

  • you are wonderful person and wonderful things come to wonderful people. Smile. It will all be okay

  • You are wrong, we do care, we care a lot, because you are one of 'US'.

If they lay you off, it's not because of your job performance but because of some fat-cats at the top. They're greed has brought us to this point. If it does happen, you will come out on top. It might be an opportunity rather than a failure. Luv ya.

  • y isnt the gov. using the 700b$ to save the jobs? crazy

  • That's only some jobs and it's doesn't even break the surface in helping most Americans keep their jobs. These are bleak times

  • lol, you should be more horrified that youll have to do twice the work with the same pay lol, good vid shan

  • hope you make through this shan p.s. where do you work??

  • Isn't the New World Order wonderful?

    1. Billions of dollars to ultra-elitists

    2. Suspension of your rights

    3. Govt corruption

  • It sounds rough :( You are a determined, intelligent person and you will come out on top. Based on how creative your videos are I think you would be great at marketing or advertising.

  • ::: hugs :::

  • best of luck on this! The kicker is the "larger bank" that owns your company is probably lining up for their share of that 700B that you, me and everyone is going to have to pay for.

  • The type of behavior you mention is one that perpetually infuriates me. The classic quotation is "It's not personal, it's business." This is nothing but a selfish excuse to shove our morals under the rug, and so many have been conditioned to think it is acceptable.

In business, money, or any endeavor, people must always come first.

    We love you Shan :)

  • you will get throught that :D

  • good luck :(

  • What is so disturbing is that this has been coming for years, manufactured by corporate greed. I work for myself, can't fire myself, but the work dwindles as all but the bare essentials go for everyone. Hold tight, with a little bit of luck maybe humanity might notice what is really happning. I'm not holding my breath though.

  • Good luck to you Shan!

and good luck to everyone :)

    Stay positive

  • It's disgusting how this is happening everywhere. No matter how strong a person is it is a humiliating experience to lose a job. I know someone who it just happened to last week and they were shocked. No one is safe lately. Good luck!

  • Thinking of you, Shan. X

  • Awesome video Shan, the title threw me off LOL a little but i really enjoyed the honesty in this!!

    ~RAGE

  • Great video, you are level-headed considering; hope you keep your job. It is similar in the UK. There have been sales before Christmas; companies disappearing; takeaways not getting customers for weeks, etc. And in places like North Wales, where unemployment was already high, it has hit especially hard. There is even talk that increasing depression is causing high levels of winter illness. Still, it will pass and everything will go back to the norm until it all happens again.

  • Rich's second rule of work: If the worst thing that happens to you today is that you lose your job... then you're doing ok.

Of course Rich's seventh rule of work:Don't spend your "fuck you fund" on a cool car.

Rule seven was a hard lesson.

  • Much love to you Shan! This was really cool. May your job be secure!

  • i just wanted to tell you how incredible you are. through very tough and stressful situations...you end the vid with words of advice and hope

i definitely look up to you as a role model and i hope everything turns out well at work

    =)

  • wow!

  • Have I told you what an amazing mind you have?

  • :) oh you

  • does getting evicted hav anything to do with Economic crisis? cuz ill be homeless by wednesday,jw

  • Well, good luck.

  • Bob, great to see you friend. :)

  • im confussed

  • but that makes it worse

  • i wanna be friends with you, you seem amazing!

  • well thank you Don! :)

  • I must say that you are INCREDIBLY inspiring; you are such a strong person who strives to see the best things in life and it seems that you always hold your head high. The world truly needs more people like you!

I wish you the best of luck, and hope that everything goes well with you!

    Love from Canada :)

    ~Altimacloud81

  • Thanks Altima :) that means a lot

  • Where do I get a hat like that?

  • LOL My parents were crazy!!!

  • why are people getting fired?

  • Economic crisis, Gaby :)

  • goooooood luck shan =]

  • thanks ken!! :)

  • We love you Shan!

  • I love you too :)

  • good luck Shan, i always keep in mind that the only job with real security is an undertaker.

  • <3 Thanks, I'm going to remember that one :D

  • <3 shan all we can do sometimes in life is hope, prepare, and take what you get. :)

I sincerely hope you don't get laid off, but i'm glad you are prepared for the worst. Good luck in this section of your life.

  • Absolutely :) Thanks so much fle :)

  • I would normally write a long, elaborate comment, but it's too late for me to think. Shannon, you have a WONDERFUL personality and attitude about everything, even terrible things. Keep your head high and hope for the best.

    Much love,

    Dylan

  • Gotta keep it on the up <3 Have a fantastic evening and get some sleep Dylan!

  • Wow. That is so scary. Shan I hate to see you having to go through this stress. :( I will be thinking so much of you tomorrow and I'll be waiting for an update. Best wishes.

  • You, Michelle, are seriously amazing. Thank you.

  • We're all in this thing called life together my friend.

  • Ahh shity stuff shan. My wife was laid off last month, she has been getting casual work since, but its a worry. I'm glad if you do keep your job you wont be justifying it on the others shortcomings. Good folk are not that common, thats why your special.

  • no YOU'RE special :)

  • If you lose your job I'll hire you as my official awesome... person.

  • YES!!!

  • 加油!!

  • <3333 I love how supportive you are.

  • You can read that? Or did you just run it through a translator?

In case you're just guessing that it is a statement of support, and aren't sure, it is pronounced 'jia yo' and is literally translated as 'add oil' but in vernacular English, a phrase that would be used in the same situation would be 'You go, girl!'

  • I know a few phrases :) I'd only translate if I were desperate, and I think I'd just ask you, rather than translate. <3

  • in the same boat shan-its quite scary. We have become too comfortable, and now many of us are on the verge of having our world turned upside down. I guess all we can do is endure.

  • We HAVE become too comfortable. You are SO right.

  • It's terrible in the event. It is scary how people respond.

Just come and move to Australia. We don't have
