Thanks for the interest. Most of the time we are just trying to keep the line fairly tight. Although, some days, a retrieved presentation works incredibly well, when obviously the chironomids are hatching and rising fairly quickly. I always try varying retrieves, no matter what the fly. BG.
How are you fishing/ retrieving the chironomid? Is it just a dead drift or are you using a figure of eight retrieve? I fish a lot of stillwater lakes in Florida and I am interested in learning about chironomids. I use a lot of beadhead nymphs for catching panfish here.
