I have to say this Flashbulb, or should I say the Flashbulb makes some really great music. I've just acquired Soundtrack to a Vacant Life, got any tips on which ones are the must haves? Would make searching a little easier.
As always, fantastic drumming, your vids makes going on youtube all the more entertaining and amazing. I'll go and pretend I'm not a human again. :D
kirlian selections is his most well rounded album i think, definitely get that one if you can. flexing habitual is really great for fast intense robotic rhythm sections with still a great sense of melody. that missing week ep, the ep that came out with STAVL is really really good. reunion is great for some chilled out beats. every album has its hits though, especially the song brown #12 on M3. hope that helps :D
Thanks for the recommendations, I'll check them all out since they sound right up my street and what I've heard so far of the Flashbulb sounds all like Quality!
When I was listening to Venetian Snares last year I began dreaming of being able to play it. I'm glad to see it's possible. Well, I've just started again with programming the paradiddle in my brain, so I'm still a loooong way off but I will get there. :-)
yeah dude the paradiddle is sooooo key to understanding music like this! read up on linear drumming as well if you hadnt already. i also really recommend a video by thomas lang called creative control. through studying these you can figure out way to orchestrate really intense drum beats through linear patterns and orchestrating rudiments all over the kit. its like doing an ultra combo in killer instinct or a brutality in mortal kombat. or a hyper combo in marvel vs capcom, take your pick ;D
Once again, thank you very much for the advice! I've just looked up linear drumming, a video by a guy (heyfunkydrummer). Will be practicing that as well.
I'll pick the hyper combo because I think that one is with Street Fighter characters right? I always loved that game the most out of those three, and I sucked the most at Killer Instinct hehe.
The paradiddle is coming along nicely now I think...have been studying it for 2 days now and it should sound good in about a month I hope. Accents:D
Magic scientist! You're being insane again! I thought you were going to fall off your chair this time, but instead I fell off mine. You've won this round... seriously though, I've commented 3 of your videos and I usually only comment videos of cats. Keep up the amazing science, hopefully you have more hits next time I watch this video because it's kind of gay that your stuff is so entertaining and crazy and only 160 people have watched it. My mum thinks you're badass too. 8 stars!
hah i have total confidence that you can be way better than me someday :)
it simply just comes down to believing in yourself and integrating everything you love into it somehow, even if its just using your imagination when you play!
hah never too early to start! building my acoustic kit was a matter of strategically plotting out birthday/christmas gifts and meticulously saving money in certain intervals xD
ive probably mentioned this a thousand times already but if you can read up some stuff on linear drumming (i think vic firth has some good resources for it) that will give you a better idea of rhythm sections not only for drumming but lots of electronic music in general
it looks a bit like you speeded it a bit up

@bplus1plus1 I would definitely say Kirlian Selections is a must have. But he has a ton of albums. All containing extremely good music.

@bplus1plus1 Just about every album from The Flashbulb is awesome. "Kirlian Selections" "Arboreal" "Red Extensions of Me" are all good to start with.
smellycheeseman1 1 year ago
@bplus1plus1 I would agree with blooandwhite that Kirlian Selections is his most well-rounded, and IMO a must have.
Arboreal would be next. Lot of unbelievable tracks there.
